COD: Black Ops 3 (1 Viewer)

Just picked this game up on Friday (PS3) after being a long time BF guy. I like it a lot. Then again, I also enjoyed BF games so it makes little sense to flame one or the other; both are fun to me so no need to diminish one to enjoy the other.

- I like the matchmaking and that games generally last 10 minutes. In BF, you could get 'stuck' with a bad team and you'd be dominated for a long time.

- Gameplay is generally similar and it was easy to jump into COD without feeling lost.

- I too have games where I'll run at 25-8 and then get schooled at 6-20. Seems like it's a little to do with the connection, but I'm still feeling which guns go best with each map.

- I tried the Black Hat and engineer thing and I watched an online video to figure out how to use it. I think so far I've disabled one gun to date. I've also managed to get killed about 8 times while trying to hack some equipment to date. Maybe I should sell this game back since I don't like Black Hat.

Is there an easy place to jump into FBG games? I sent out a few invites (PSN: mrcreamjeans), but I was also wondering if there is a standard place to look to see who's online.
Good post, but the bolded is especially true. The spawn system in COD has some real problems (like when you spawn right next to an enemy or when you run across the map to flank the other team only to find that the spawn just flipped), but at least you don't get spawn-trapped for 15 minutes at a time. The slower pace and grander scale of Battlefield is nice, but once you learn to appreciate them the short and arcadey matches you get in COD are fun too.

The biggest difference for me is the lack of medic and ammo support. In BF, if you're running with a teammate and he gets shot, you're trying to figure how to revive him so that you have someone to battle with. In COD, you're just happy that he got shot and not you.

On the other hand, you never get shot and then immediately revived only to be shot again because the medic who revived you didn't bother to take out the guy who killed you.Edit: I didn't do much sniping in Bad Company 2, but when I did, I always loved it when I would kill somebody and then spot a medic dashing over to revive his fallen teammate. I would deliberately wait for the guy to be revived and then shoot him again, laughing the whole time. Never got old.

Good article.

And SC2's ladder system IS awesome. Not enough experience to judge the BO2 system yet.

When will they fix the spawn & quick scope issues?
Seeing as how these are long-standing issues with COD games in general, I'm guessing never.
Yeah. I had heard that they were going to require the scope to be all the way up before allowing you to fire accurately but that's clearly not the case. Had also heard that there would be no aim assist until completely scoped but that seems to be not true either. At the very least they could make it so that your running speed is the same as with an LMG or make it virtually impossible to hip fire it. But guys sprint around at crazy speeds, start ADSing for a millisecond and get a one shot kill without the sight being anywhere near the enemy. And I've already been killed by a hip firing sniper more times than it ever happened in MW3 and BO combined.I don't think the spawns are horrible since the latest patch where they worked on fixing them. You'll still have some issues, but I think it's largely due to the super small maps.

I agree on the spawn thing. If you're going to have tiny maps and you're going to move the spawns around to avoid spawn-trapping, then it's just a fact of life that you'll occasionally have players spawn right by an enemy or in the immediate line of fire of an incoming hellfire. Slightly annoying, but not the biggest deal in the world.

Ran a long ### time last night with Bogey/Pollard/tjnc09

What time do you folks usually hop on? I just prestiged so I'm not good for much but ready to go. Had fun last night

Pollard & I just wrecked shop. I don't have a consistent time, but is a lot more fun playing with buddies even if they are random strangers from the internets :thumbup:PS the more I play, the less I lose on sports. Win win

Brutal night tonight... bad connection no matter what game/party I joined. Was losing every single gunfight.

I like playing "Hotspot". Pretty fun. I wonder if the locations are random. I played a team last night who seemed to know exactly where the next one would pop up. Dunno.

Think you're talking about Hardpoint. The locations on the map are the same each time. Really fast-paced game type

:goodposting: The first location is always the most central. Then it rotates from there. With a little practice, it's not hard to predict where the next hardpoint is going to be.

lol. yeah. Hardpoint. I know the locations are the same, but is the order random?ETA: according to the COD wiki the order is random.

Yeah, it was a good run. I'm usually on from 10-12ish.

Not a big fan of Hardpoint. Granted, I've only played it a few times, but I felt like the spawns could be incredibly unfair. Multiple times in a couple of matches the enemy spawned in 2 or 3 guys and then the new Hardpoint moved right next to them. There's just no way to win when your enemy is practically spawning in the Hardpoints.

Slowly but surely getting the hang of this game. Had a series of games to end last night (with Smoke and Pioneer) where I was really feeling it, even on a West Coast host. Pretty encouraging.

I need to open up dogs tho - the Lodestar isn't cutting it for me. Everytime I put one up people seem to switch to their blind eye class (since I usually had a stealth chopper up at the same time).

Really dissapointed with the connection/lag/whatever in parties.

I'm maybe 11-11 with the 6 of us last night.

Went like 35-3 solo in next 2 games.

And of course forgot to change my KS so I missed my chopper.

Clear them out? That's what makes this mode fun IMO.

You just gotta play more aggressive...can't hang back in our parties cuz the easy kills won't be there.

I don't think I can play with you guys when we have a west coast host.

It was really really bad.

Hardpoint can be fun but perk 1 greed is a must imo as you gotta equip lightweight and flak jacket to really be effective. Also gets easier the more you play as the points are predictable - we've had the most success when we migrate before the time expires. basically its KOTH (gearz) on COD.

I agree Perk 1 Greed is a must, but I run with Lightweight and Hardline. UAV, Hunter Killer, and the Cluster bomb thing.

Yep if you hang back all you are going to get is the spawn flip and they will be behind you shooting you.

My PS3 still locks up right before entering games sometimes and I have to do a hard reset.

It's a week old PS3 so I'm hoping it's the game and not my ps3

Agreed... I usually run with Hardline and Blind Eye and Coldblooded Perk 2 since so many have target finders and millimeter scanners... stick n move, stick n move... But change up the perks for different gun classes depending on map and game-mode.

Play a lot of Zombies as well...

PS3 - Beverachi

I use Hardline and Flakjacket with Coldblooded...love being able to run through bouncing bettys and get kills.

I use engineer to shoot all the betties, claymores and shockers I see for the other teammates. And now that I saw the posts on here about using black hat, I love hacking those betties I can't shoot against their own campers. I use tactician to get extra tacticals and use two black hats.

Seems everytime I have tried that I die. The person is actually paying attention I guess, and when it changes colors after hacking they are waiting on me. Much better just to run through and put a few in the back.

How is the campaign for this? I don't get into the online play, would it still be worth it to buy?

Has anyone played teh campaign through already? Time estimate?

Considering buying this or the new Hitman this weekend.

Go with Hitman, without question. No way the campaign is worth $60.
