COD: Black Ops 3 (1 Viewer)

So I'm in 7/11 this mirning and what the hell is staring at me, COD black ops 2. I figure it's a blank case and don't think anything of it but the guy in front of me does and proceeds to buy the last one  it cost the guy 80 bucks and I'm sure it's been worth every penny  what the hell is it with 7/11 and shady ### ####
Might have to check out the 7-11's near me. Never heard of this. Some D-bag here in Denver is asking $300 for an early copy. I don't mind people asking a few extra bucks for their time, however some of these guys are dumb enough to ask 5 times as much for a copy early. I guess people must be dumb enough to pay it.

So clawyer you going to give us a review or what?
My review:Maps suck- there are head-glitching, hidey holes EVERYWHERE. I am a fan of rushing, so it is incredibly frustrating not being able to turn on someone who is camping. Now, when a UAV goes up the campers are in for it. Ghost is not unlocked until level 55 so they will be exposed for a while. Guns are instakill (hopefully they continue to patch this, they've patched it twice already), the guns have little recoil as well. Lag comp is not bad although I have felt it a few times. For the most part the better connection wins.Snipers, OMG, snipers are ridiculous. A lot of lines of sight into spawns and they are pretty much a one hit kill. Speaking of spawns- it is a mix of MW3 and black ops. Not as predictable as black ops and people spawn in front, behind, there really is no good feel for the game when this happens. In black ops I always knew where the enemy would be. In MW3 you never knew. Black ops 2 is a mix of this. Sounds are great, maps are pretty to look at, I just don't like them much. Plaza, raid, turbine  There are some good maps, but there are some really bad ones.

I will say this for the game, people PTFO. One thing the new scorestreaks do to help the game. Nobody passes a flag, they always assist. There is a race for tags in KC. It is refreshing.

I plan to pick up a copy over lunch tomorrow. Will check it out tomorrow night.

Clawyer/bshell/whatever alias you're using today - I planned to go straight to multiplayer. Is there a campaign or something you'd recommend before that?

I haven't really followed very closely...any thing super exciting/new about this release? New features, etc...?
No. There's no hype, like a TV advertisement cameo with Robert Downey Jr bringing a jet to a knife fight. It's exactly like the previous release.Sorry. I don't typically reply to these. Just this once.

Training mode is back, so you can go spend time learning the maps against bots before jumping right in.

Don't mind ender, he's drunk.Compared to previous CoD's, no, there's nothing revolutionary. They supposedly made big improvements/expansion to the zombie mode, if you're into that. Campaign will be more of the same. Multiplayer has some new stuff (pick 10 system for weapons/perks which lets you customize your loadout a little more), but nothing too big.

Wow. According to the official COD Twitter account, over a billion hours of BlackOps2 have already been played. How is that even freaking possible?

I picked up 2 copies tonight since I was working the overnight shift anyway. My intent was to only grab a copy for my son since today is his birthday, but decided to grab a copy for myself so I can play with/against him.

I need some tips since I have never played a Online FPS. Is there a particular class/weapon I should start with(or is that not an option)? I am not looking forward to getting pwned by my 10 year old so any tips are greatly appreciated.

You are going to get pwned by your 10 year old. I really do think the best thing a total noob can do is use the training mode in multiplayer. You can learn the controls at a slower pace that way as well as learning the maps. Those two things make a huge difference. As for gun, probably an assault rifle is the way to go as it is the most balanced for all fights. The early consensus seems to be that the Type 25 is pretty BA.The other option is to go close quarters spray and pray. For that, go with the Skorpion EVO under SMGs. Add a laser sight and extended mags. Also, stick to the outer parts of the maps as much as possible early on. That will help keep you from getting flanked and allow you to setup the gunfights rather than your opponent. Even better, pick a small area, say a building with a few close surroundings, and really learn it and patrol it. Learn where the good areas for cover are, where you can get the high ground, and where the entrance/exits all are.

Looks like my newegg delivery won't be here till tomorrow. Bummer.
Mine shows Thursday :(If I had known they would ship it to me from Memphis instead of 45 miles away in Edison, NJ I would have paid the extra $8 or so and gotten release date delivery from Amazon.

Why not just drive to a store?
Preordering is easier online. I sometimes wish that developers wouldn't offer preorder bonuses because then I could just swing by Wal Mart like you suggested.

I pre-ordered to get the $12 off.eta - and I have a wife and 4 kids that demand pretty much all of my time that falls between work and bedtime/video game time... easier to just have it sent to the house

Maps are a cluster####.
Well, they usually are when you don't know them yet. Maybe they'll settle down after you get the hang of 'em?
I don't find them to be a cluster, better than MW3. However, I find the spawns to be a cluster. I fight 1-3 enemies in front of me and then they magically spawn behind me, even when COD logic says they should continue to spawn in front of me. So far, it is not very fun. WIth the bullet damage it takes zero skill to get a kill. I do like they took away a lot of the abilities with the knife. I like the look and sound of the game. I don't want to be negative about it, but the way it plays is terrible. You definitely have to change your playstyle. Head glitching and laying prone while waiting for an enemy to turn the corner is a must.

How is this different from every other COD game? Compared to other shooters I've played (Killzone, Bad Company 2), COD has always had near-zero health.
Black Ops 1 is different. Took a lot more bullets to kill and you could eat a lot more bullets and get away from a gunfight. With MW3 and now Blops 2, it is instakill.
Lets do some private matches tonite while we still have enough people that play this to do it. I'd much prefer that to the BS you described in your previous post.

Stopping to pick up my pre-order(stupid Best Buy not open until 10am)...or I would have picked it up on my way into the office

I'll give this a long look, as I really can't stand Halo.

Private matches are the best thing about FPS.

Last I checked, bullets hurt/kill in real life too. I don't know how realistic it was to be shot by an AR a couple time, then be able to hid out while your red screen clears up and you are automatically back to full health.Guess I can't get shot. :boxing:

:lmao: Not trying to compare a video game to real life. COmparing apples to apples. Black Ops 1 > than Black Ops 2. JMHO, right now. Dev's have the black box and can change things whenever they want. They've already had 3 updates before the game was available to the public. I appreciate they support their game unlike IW. The way it plays right now, I am not a fan. That doesn't mean you don't have to be too.
