COD: Black Ops 3 (1 Viewer)

I picked up 2 copies tonight since I was working the overnight shift anyway. My intent was to only grab a copy for my son since today is his birthday, but decided to grab a copy for myself so I can play with/against him.I need some tips since I have never played a Online FPS. Is there a particular class/weapon I should start with(or is that not an option)? I am not looking forward to getting pwned by my 10 year old so any tips are greatly appreciated.
You are going to get pwned by your 10 year old. I really do think the best thing a total noob can do is use the training mode in multiplayer. You can learn the controls at a slower pace that way as well as learning the maps. Those two things make a huge difference. As for gun, probably an assault rifle is the way to go as it is the most balanced for all fights. The early consensus seems to be that the Type 25 is pretty BA.The other option is to go close quarters spray and pray. For that, go with the Skorpion EVO under SMGs. Add a laser sight and extended mags. Also, stick to the outer parts of the maps as much as possible early on. That will help keep you from getting flanked and allow you to setup the gunfights rather than your opponent. Even better, pick a small area, say a building with a few close surroundings, and really learn it and patrol it. Learn where the good areas for cover are, where you can get the high ground, and where the entrance/exits all are.
Thanks for the tips. I tried a few training mode and was just destroyed by everyone, lol. Anyways now I have like 5 classes I can choose from which would provide me with one of the weapons described above? Sorry if this is a stupid question explain it to me like I am Shuke. Also I had guys popping out and killing me like they were invisible, is that possible or was it server lag.

I would adjust the difficulty of the bots. Recruit level. There shouldn't be any server lag in combat training.

WIth the bullet damage set it takes zero skill to get a kill.
How is this different from every other COD game? Compared to other shooters I've played (Killzone, Bad Company 2), COD has always had near-zero health.
Black Ops 1 is different. Took a lot more bullets to kill and you could eat a lot more bullets and get away from a gunfight. With MW3 and now Blops 2, it is instakill.
Last I checked, bullets hurt/kill in real life too. I don't know how realistic it was to be shot by an AR a couple time, then be able to hid out while your red screen clears up and you are automatically back to full health.Guess I can't get shot. :boxing:
I don't care about what getting shot by an assault rifle is like in real life. I'm playing a video game. Gameplay concerns should always trump literal realism. I always liked the fact that when you start to take damage in Bad Company 2, you have quite a bit of time to turn around and return fire with a realistic chance of winning the confrontation. It took me a long time to get used to Black Ops, where it seemed like the first guy to pull his trigger won about 95% of the time. I "get" it now though -- given the fast-moving style that COD is going for, huge pools of health would be counterproductive.

Well, I'm enjoying it so far. There are countless ways to loadout, knifing is very difficult, no noob tubes (so far) & the maps look great.

It makes sense to kind of hold back instead of rush, rush, rush, because the spawns are kinda sketchy. If you are the only guy on one end of a map, you better have your head on a swivel.

I like the menus as well. So far so good.

ETA: Oh, and if you rage quit, you get a 5 minute TO from the lobbies...

Encouraging...

Wait until the noobs level up their Type 25 (not really OP, just an example) to the point where they unlock the tube. :hot:

Well I had my son show me how to change my weapon loadout :bag:

He told me to use a SMG and a Pistol. I made it to lv 4 and he played one map and got me to almost lv 7. I have a feelig I am going to get seriously pwned.

Oh, you're going to get seriously pwned. By the sound of it Blops2 may be as garbage as MW3 was in terms of dying randomly to stupid ####.

Wow I really stick at this game, but have gone from a .07 kill ratio to .5 and sometimes I get close to 1

I feel alone on Halo.
I'll be there. It's funny that almost all rushers/aggressive players on twitter are saying you have to roll with a party. Why does this game and MW3 all of the sudden make BK's good? I want to say it is because of instakill weapons. There is not much skill involved when it takes one burst to kill a player. I had 3 bullets from my MSMC kill someone. You know how many bullets it would have taken from my ak-74u in blops1? I am not a fan. I want to say COD will be dead, but until something jumps up and takes its place, they will continue churning out another version. This is purely opinion and I am sure a lot of you will disagree, but BLops1 was my 1st shooter and honestly, without looking at it with rose colored glasses, it was the best. Take out second chance and you have a winner. Unfortunately, they stole MW3, added maps and took out deathstreaks.

does your weapon level matter? If so how does it affect thigns
Yes. As you level up your weapon you can add different attachments to it. Things like sights, extended clips, laser sights for better hip firing accuracy, etc.
thx the kid didnt tell me about that stuff added a suppressor and sight. Finally completed the combat training up to lv 11 but I cant find any of my kill info. Where do I look to see how bad my ratio is?

I don't think the combat training numbers are saved. You start the regular multiplayer at all zeros. In other news, don't ever pre-order from Newegg unless the ~$10 in savings is a huge issue for you. Not only did they not ship from the facility an hour and a half from where I live, but they "processed" my order yesterday at 12:13am and indicated they had "shipped" it. What that actually meant was that they created a shipping label and then didn't actually give it to UPS until 4:00pm today. Instead of being able to cancel my order and go to ToysRUs and grab 2 copies for $90 today, I'm sitting her stuck waiting until Thursday. At the very least, I wish I had pre-ordered from Amazon to get release date delivery instead of release date shipping.

I suck at this game but I am enjoying it. I took the day off tomorrow as well. :bag:

Zombies are quite a bit different as well. I am hoping they will add the old zombie maps in the future.

According to Woodysgamertag, the lag compensation is much less aggressive in BO2 than it was MW3. That is a huge plus in my book. My single biggest problem with MW3 was constantly getting owned by DSL connections when I was host. Getting hugely penalized for having a good connection was total bs.

Refuse to buy a game for my 10 year old console with 15 year old hardware, can't handle COD games on pc.

But I got in a little over an hour today and the game feels good, imo better than the previous CODs, I enjoy the new customization system, I love the feel of most of the maps.

I think the time to kill is insanely quick but feels much more like MW2 than MW3 (which is a good thing).

The MTAR is my gun of choice in my short preview, UAV + Care Package and no 3rd streak, just run and gun all day.

Game seems great. If you can somehow manage to get into a match. Trying to play in a party is nearly impossible.

I guess we should know by now that dropping $110 on a game doesn't mean it will actually work at first.

They always get it worked out and when they do, it seems like it could be the best COD yet.

If it's just BLOPS1 with Kill Confirmed and better weapon balance (as it appears), that would do it, I think.
