coles or cotchery (1 Viewer)

They're about equal.

Cotchery - more yards.

Coles - more TDs (gets red zone targets)
It is a misconception that Coles gets targeted more in the red zone.2007 red zone targets: Coles 14, Cotchery 12

2006 red zone targets: Coles 15, Cotchery 21

ETA: in the past 2 seasons, Coles has 14/92/6 on 29 targets in the red zone; Cotchery has 14/106/3 on 33 targets

Of course, there is no guarantee that Coles won't get targeted more than Cotchery going forward, but I don't see any rationale for that. As already noted in the thread, Cotchery is in his prime, while Coles is beyond his, and Cotchery seems to be building at least slightly better chemistry with Favre. None of that guarantees anything for Cotchery, but what case is there that Coles will get more red zone looks?
It's no misconception.Coles missed many more games than Cotchery and still had more red zone targets. I had Cotchery last year and saw first hand how they went to Coles in the end zone. In fact in one series, they were on the one and threw a fade to Coles that was incomplete. The very next play, they threw to Coles again, this time for the TD.

Of course I was livid  and remember it very clearly.
Well, first of all, you bolded 2007 but ignored 2006, when they both played 16 games and Cotchery had more red zone targets. I decided to compare the red zone targets in the games in which both played in 2007. They both played in weeks 1-8, 11, and 14 last season. In those games, Cotchery had 9 red zone targets and Coles had 11. (I did this by scanning FBG play by play info for those games, so I can't swear these are accurate.)

That means over the past two years, in games played by both of them, Cotchery had 30 red zone targets and Coles had 26. I think that reinforces my original point.

All that said, I agree that with a new QB, and likely different playcalling that will fit Favre's skillset, which is quite different from Pennington's, this past data is not necssarily a good indicator of how targets will be divided this year. Still, it would seem that all signs point to Cotchery outperforming Coles this year, and that is what I expect.
Let's hope we both end up with the right one.

There's a difference between red zone targets and goal line targets. From inside the five, Coles has 8 targets and 3 TDs, while Cotchery has 4 targets and 0 TDs.

Anyway, I still don't see much difference between the two receivers. People want to see a difference, so they look for one. Yes, Cotchery is younger, but that doesn't matter. In 2006, Coles had a ton more targets and a ton more fantasy points. In 2007, before the injury, Coles had two more targets and about 20 more FPs. Coles has been the WR1 for the Jets since he came back.

Sure, Cotchery closed the gap. At this point, they're even. If you project them both for 16 games, I think you've got to project Coles at around 1000 and 8, and Cotchery at around 1000 and 6. Cotchery, of course, is more likely to play 16 games.

But Coles is healthy and ready for week one, and I'd expect him to play well. He's being drafted as a WR3, but he should absolutely play at a WR2 level when healthy this year.

i believe cotchery will have better numbers than coles, thats recs, yds and tds...take it to the bank! cotchery and favre have developed a relationship while it seems coles doesnt approve of favre being there..cotchery has gotten many more reps with favre than coles has also...

This is nonsense.

Do you want to hear a funny story?Well to bad I am going to tell you. This last weekend I draft cotchery in the 7th round. Everyone asked why I didn't draft Coles. I told them that Favre didn't like him. Well when the 11 round rolled by I realized coles was still on the board. So even though I already had Cotchery I also grabbed Coles. :excited: That is the way to manipulate your draft.
I was reading this thinking you were either lying or had a noob league. Then I realized who you are and that you were talking about our league. In my defense, everyone, I drafted my WR's early and was filling other holes later. I love Cotchery but am not big on Coles this year or ever really. He is way too hot or cold for me.
