Probably a drop in DEVY leagues at this point, because if he’s out this year I don’t think he’s valuable enough to tie up a roster spot. Most DEVY leagues don’t allow custom players on IR because they are still in college. I have one share that’s about to become zero.
Unless you are playing in a very short bench league, I would not even consider dropping Stewart. He wasn't scoring you any points this season, regardless. Are you suggesting Stewart's career is in jeopardy? Stewart may spend an extra season in college if he misses all of 2025, but who are you picking up on the waiver wire who is so valuable you are just outright dropping a College DEVY prospect? He is a solid hold, imo.
All he has to hang his hat on is being a former 5 star recruit. His star had already faded and hasn’t exactly filled the stat sheet at both Texas AM or Oregon. He has a slight frame and from what I’ve read doesn’t like contact. He has proven to be an overrated DEVY asset imo. Roster spots are valuable in a league that has 25 and you can’t use an IR spot on college players. It’s not like this is Jeremiah Smith we’re talking about here.
I suppose it depends on your league's roster limits and rules, but I would hold.
I thought Stewart was overrated, so you won't get much argument from me on that front, but if you believed in Stewart enough to draft him as a DEVY prospect, why would you cut him now? He was going to take up that roster spot this season, regardless of the injury.
If Stewart recovers and enters the 2026 Draft, you lost a season of college development, and perhaps his injury lingers into his rookie season. If Stewart takes a medical redshirt season and stays in college an extra year, you either ride with him for an extra season or drop him for another DEVY prospect in next year's draft. Either way, he should be valuable enough to hold onto.
The only reason I would drop Stewart is if I am convinced he will never recover
and league rules will not allow me to preserve a valuable DEVY roster spot if Stewart opts to stay in college an extra season.
