Colston -- buy low or stay away? (1 Viewer)

Because he is still the #1 WR on a top offense with a top QB and not much has changed that would indicate a sudden substantial drop-off
And yet a substantial drop-off is what has befallen him through six weeks this season (or, in other words, 40% of his fantasy season, when you eliminate week 17).

Still a buy low. Barring injury, he will be there with 1000 and 8 at the end of the season like usual.
Doubtful. He might eke his way to 1,000 yards, but I doubt he gets to 8 touchdowns, unless he has a crazy good week where he catches 3 or 4 in one game. Either way, even if he does, he has killed FF owners (most of whom probably drafted him in the 3rd or 4th round) with his lack of production early.
The bolded part is true, but doesn't really mean anything from here on out. From this point, do you want a guy with his best games likely ahead of him (ie Colston) or a guy with his best games likely behind him (ie TO)?That is why he is an easy buy low imo
i wouldnt be shocked if TO outscores him from here on out, would you?
Shocked? No. But I also don't think that is more likely to happen.

It is true. Mostly from a TD standpoint though. He is still getting catches and targets, and yards for the most part which is more indicative of the future imo. Touchdowns can be a fickle thing. I suppose he could catch 80 passes from Drew Brees this year and not score a TD. But I think it's more likely he scores something like 4 TDs in 3 weeks sometime soon and ends up around his career averages.

It's not like brees has been all that good this year so far. Both guys are slow starters and the future will tell....Colston believer <<<

I'm seriously considering dropping him outright. No one in my league wants to trade for him and he is killing me. There are some other decent WRs on waivers like Branch, Garcon (who should blow up in Week 8), M.Williams and Breaston. I need wins now.

Saint WRs are tough to own in FF. Brees spreads the ball around which is why that offense is typically so good. Colston has value though and should be able to be moved via trade.

don't do it

Question for those in the know: Does it seem like Colston lines up inside more often than other WR1s from other teams? I seem to think that they keep him in tight, is it for security? I seem Meachem and Henderson on the outside more, and Colston not so much. Curious as to why this is?

Better yet, I hope he stuck with Colston and dropped someone else for Williams. Williams and Colston seems like a great WR corps, or at least a great start to a WR corps.

It was only a matter of time until this guy got going. He isn't on the elite level due to how Brees spreads the ball, but this guy is a damn good player. He's big, good hands (even though he dropped two balls early on) and is the number one target. His end of the year numbers should be there.

I actually dropped him and Amendola for Bowe and Garcon before Week 7. Other WR's are Harvin and TB Williams. No regrets so far after winning 2 straight (was 2-4), and I was able to get Garcon before the Indy injuries happened. Not suprisingly, he was immediately picked up after I dropped him but he was on that guys bench for the last 2 weeks. I'm sure he will have a few more good weeks but when you mix that in with the inconsistency and the headaches of him being on the pine when he finally does blow...I'll pass.

I respect your defense, but I don't agree with it. He's simply too big of a good offense to drop outright for Garcon/Amendola. Being dropped/being on the bench are more of a poor management decision than anything else. His production is where it should be to this point.

I just sold Colston in 53 man 12 team dynasty league with traditional non-ppr scoring.

I gave Colston and 2011 5th rounder

I get Davone Bess 2011 1st and 3rd rounder

I like the trade because it is a team I just took over last week and it will be 1-7 and in total rebuilding mode.

I dropped him and dropped Amendola and picked up Garcon and Bowe. Based on what has happened in Indy I would gladly give up Colston for Garcon. I was 2-4 and quite happy with the matchups Bowe had over the past few weeks, especially since I needed wins immediately. Colston posted good numbers over the past 2 weeks but I bet he was on a lot of benches as well, like he was in my league. I can't say his production is where it should be based on the first 5 weeks. If you drafted him in the 2nd like I did then you were counting on better numbers as a WR1.  Those first 5 weeks were a killer.

Fair enough, I appreciate the back and forth. I'm probably just a bit more bullish on him than some.

Just broke into the top 10 in my PPR, although he does have his bye this week. Been very good the last few weeks, despite the low ypc, which is a bit low.

Maybe if you had some thoughts on why he is going to be at 1,000/8 and is a buy low instead of just saying that he is.
Colston on fire and now on pace for 99-1128-6. I personally think with some juicy matchups coming up that he gets to 8+ TDs.

Buy low. He's still a great WR on a pass first offense. He should be in line for some very good weeks. The Seahawks in week 11 don't match up well against him...100 yards receiving and multiple TDs wouldn't be shocking.

I think the time for "buy low" has passed my man.
