Colts are still biggest threat to Patriots (1 Viewer)

Not to point out the obvious, but any team that wants to beat the Pats is going to have to find a way to contain their offense, and to answer your question -- no, Dallas cannot, even though you might not have realized this yet. This defense is somewhat similar to the old San Diego defense that had strong line play, but gave up points because of mediocre secondary. I believe the powerful Dallas offense essentially scored 7 points in the second half, when the game was still a contest, so I'm not sure how you call that "fine", and that was against a substandard New England D. I would also like to see Green Bay in the superbowl, because Dallas already had their shot and couldn't do squat with it. It'd be pretty sweet to beat every good team in the league, so I'm rooting for Green Bay to make it.

I'll tell you. I despise Peyton Manning and have really had no axes to grind in regards to this Patriot team but some of their fans make it really hard to appreciate the way this team plays.
Before I respond to your post, let me just comment that "Darth Cheney" is a hilarious name...Don't blame the team for one or two obnoxious fans who happen to post here. Of course the team itself is also obnoxious, and you can certainly blame them for that...
Timscocket, I don't know where you get off saying some of the things that you say. If you are pooling me in with the "obnoxious NE fans" group that you mention, I would ask you to substantiate your claim. On one hand, we are all sports fans here and the testosterone pumps at times to defend our home teams. As far as I'm concerned, it's all in good fun. However, with regards to you, I believe you take it a bit too seriously. If I recall correctly, you have made several statements since "spygate" that imply New Englanders, not only fans, are scum bags. Don't you think you're getting a little carried away? Calling an entire region of the country #######s is somewhat of a loose argument, wouldn't you think?

Fantaholic,I haven't read enough of your posts to comment on them. I was referring to eom specifically, and one or two others I can't think of offhand, who seem to enjoy calling people "idiots" who don't agree with them, and disparage every suggestion that other teams might even dare to compete with the mighty Patriots. No I don't like the Pats, I don't like Bellichick. I'm less upset by the "Spygate" than by Bellichick's arrogant attitude about it and also what I perceive as attempts to run up the score. I admit I'm also jealous because I think that if not for the Patriots, Pittsburgh might be the dominant team of the 21st century with three SB wins instead of one. After all, I think in 2001 and 2004, the Steelers were the 2nd best team in football, and they were defeated by the Pats. The same thing may very well happen this year. So I'm filled with envy.

But I want to correct you about one thing. I have called Randy Moss a scumbag, and I think this title is deserved. I have never called the rest of the Pats, this, or any other name. I also have never called anyone on these threads names, or idiots, or ###### as you put it. I have never made ANY personal attacks, even though I have been personally attacked on more than one occassion. Do not put me in the same class as eom, thank you very much.

I'm filled with envy.
As petty and completely pathetic as this is, at least he's honest about it, unlike the great majority of the Pats haters.
My thoughts exactly. I appreciate the honesty. It's about time. Hey, I would be just as envious as the next guy if I were a non-new englander. We are enjoying the ultimate fan experience in 3 of 4 major sports. It's completely understandable to hate us in some sense, but it's just sports people. Let's not take things personally.

Obviously I remain fascinated by this subject, which I think is the key discussion for the rest of the year. Everyone agrees that New England is the best team. But there are four other really really good teams, (Indy, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Green Bay) none of whom have very many flaws, any of whom could easily be a Superbowl Champion in any other year, and all of whom could challenge NE this year. The Pats will have to face two of these four teams to win the championship. Which two will they face?
All I know is if Dallas gets to the SB they will win it, and you can put it in 3 inch headlines!
"Most of my posts were in response to attacks from others". -YOUNoone breathed a word about Dallas before you brought it up. This isnt a big deal. But its the basic lack of respect that I was originally referring to. You dont get your BUTTs handed to you by superior team in Texas Stadium in front of the entire country, and then lock-in a Superbowl title in "3 inch headlines". Just take it on the chin and keep enjoying Dallas' great season. But dont take the fight back to the dog that's already chased you off the porch.
