Colts cuts and other player movements... (1 Viewer)

Who will take over from Morris - did I miss something?

If there are no real replacement they could be resigned for less, but that they are cut would mean that they would not accept a pay cut in the first instance

Ty Hagler was starting at SSLB after Morris' injury. Rocky Boiman was Hagler's backup. The Colts also have a very promising LB on the bench named Clint Sessions - and I think they will find a way to give him signficant playing time next year.

2 minor losses, imo. They had arguably the best D in the league last season. And neither of these guys was the reason. Those guys will be replaced by young, hungry players that will be coached well and get the job done, just like about every other player Tony Dungy coaches. The man is a phenomenal defensive coach, and Polian is a phenomenal judge of talent and shrewd personnel man. But with that said, Id say Indy's first order of business needs to be in addressing their D tackle position - whether thru the draft or FA. They seem as sound as anyone else in the league at every other position.

They could use another DT, but what I REALLY want is a DE that can pass-rush. Not having a DE that could pass-rush opposite Mathis killed them against the Chargers more than any single other factor. And I'm saying this assuming Freeney comes back relatively healthy - then need a backup DE that can rush the passer.

I think there'll be some depth there in that DE area of this draft, if that's what the Colts are looking for. I understand its also a good Oline draft, and they may choose to go in that direction with one of those 1st couple of picks. But they need that big body in the middle of that line that can command a legitimate double team game to game. That alone would free up atleast one double team that either Freeney or Mathis would face. There just arent too many weaknesses on this team. DE or DT, Oline seem to be the areas they need to upgrade or add depth. Indy doesnt often get involved in FA, but if they were able to bring in a veteran at DE/OLB with pass rushing skills it would help. You'd think some veteran would want to come in there and fill a role for a shot at a ring.
