Colts Offense (1 Viewer)

No official word yet on Collins' concussion status but he was already banged up with a shoulder injury prior to the game.

Curtis Painter started shaky but then got it together for a nice 80-yd TD drive. He also looked very good in the third preseason game with a nice rapport with Reggie Wayne in particular. Obviously he's no Peyton Manning, but on the surface Painter appears to run the Colts offense much closer to the way it's supposed to be run. Kerry Collins is worthless

It would obviously be a calculated gamble, but it may be time to acquire some Colts skill players (Collie, Garcon, Clark) on the cheap based on the assumption Painter takes over and maintains the job. Their schedule sets up well the remainder of the year (including KC, Cincy, CAR, NE, JAX) and their value couldn't be any lower (Collie and Garcon have even been dropped in my rather shallow league).

Thoughts?

Painter sucks even more than Collins. You might as well forget the Colts this year, they won't help your fantasy team.
I think Wayne is a solid #2 WR - especially if Painter takes over. Yes, last night was horrific - but I think Wayne is probably the best chance of yielding consistant production out of a Colts offensive player.

It looked to me that Painter looked to Garcon all night once he got in - not Wayne.

That said I am permanently benching Wayne - I don't think you want any Colts players....

Unless you're desperate I would look elsewhere for fantasy help. You will not get any consistency from Colt players this year.

Such a strong opinion, such little insight. Care to elaborate? If he's so bad then why did they draft him and why was he the number two behind Peyton?Rookies are doing great all over the NFL and it just seems the Colts have thought Painter needs a little more seasoning but this could be a good transition point.Maybe your opinion would be different if Painter hit Garcon on his first throw for a long TD.

garcon has been getting a lot of targets deep in games 1, 2 but collins never hit him. i think he's a wr3 with lots of upside with painter in.

Painter also threw almost exclusively to Wayne in the preseason game against the Packers. Way to small of a sample size for sure, but I think he may lock onto a particular target in games. It won't necessarily always be the same guy.

:goodposting: Yep. Not sure what to make of Painter (or who his favorite target is yet). I do remember Wayne pining for him in the preseason when Collins was signed. Not sure if it's just the "devil I do know" thing, or if Wayne and Painter have any chemistry.I guess we'll see.

I think with Painter you will see more throws to the TE's and RB's. I don't think they will go downfield like they were with Collins. I would not be suprised to see Clark and Addai get alot more catches.

There are some (me included) that doesn't believe Painter belongs in the NFL. He has looked terrible in "real" games and has only looked decent in one preseason game counting last year and this year.

I agree that Garcon seemed to be the favorite target, at least in last night's limited sample size.... that is coming from another Wayne owner.

am desperate in one league

We are all speculating but the colts did seem to look like they were running more of the stuff they normally do vs. last week when it was so packed in and conservative.

My hunch if Painter is the QB is that Wayne is the biggest benefactor. For route running in short and intermediate routes, there is no one on the team that will do it better or be more sure-handed, WR-wise.

But overall, it is like saying you have a dime when you need a dollar. It is more than you had but not as much as you need. I'm not sure anyone outside of Addai has enough value to actually put into a lineup and it is hard to imagine anyone would have said that three months ago.
