DOSS ON THE BLOCK: From the It's a Little Late For That File, the Colts this week called some teams looking to trade starting safety Mike Doss, just days after being arrested on serious gun charges.

It's a long shot but could we see C. June (a safety who is over 6' tall) anchor his old position in college. In return, it would pave the way for Gilbert Gardner as the starting WLB. RAPTURE

Might be the answer to my post on Gilbert practicing at the WLB spot?

Who steps into his spot??? Does Marlin Jackson end up at FS?
Whoa, getting a little ahead of ourselves, aren't we?My guess is that The Colts open the season with Bob Sanders and Mike Doss at safety.

Though I would admit that Sanders is the safer bet right now...

Duffman, if the Colts have announced Doss on the trading blocks....I don't think they are playing around. Dungy is a very religious man and when you have a man on his roster cap em' people, it is not a good sign. I blew that last part out of proportion, but you get my drift.RAPTURE

If Doss is traded, Sanders will move to SS and Strickland will move from CB to FS. Over the past few years, Strickland (when healthy) has bounced around from CB to FS to CB again. If Doss is a goner, the DB situation will be the following:SS: SandersFS: StricklandCB: HarperCB: Jefferson (first few games) / M Jackson (remainder of season)

I may have spoke too soon...Colts | Police and Courts: N. Harper - from www.KFFL.com

The Indianapolis Star reports Indianapolis Colts CB Nick Harper was arrested on a domestic battery charge at his Carmel home Saturday, June 4. Harper's wife, Danielle, suffered an eye contusion. Harper is charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic violence, but must stay in jail until he appears before a judge. "He'll be in jail all weekend," Hamilton County Sheriff Doug Carter said. A spokesman for the Indianapolis Colts was unaware that Harper had been arrested.

What a mess. :( I don't think many teams would be interested in Doss, given his OK Corral incident. Indy may get some low ball offers but I don't see many teams willing to assume the risk. Maybe Gruden in TB? I know thier cap is not in the best of shape but Indy would take the hit for the signing bonus so Doss would have a lesser impact on TB. I've not heard any rumors to this effect, just thinking out loud.

Colts | Police and Courts: M. Doss - from www.KFFL.comMon, 6 Jun 2005 14:44:57 -0700TheIndyChannel.com, citing NewsNet5.com, reports Indianapolis Colts S Mike Doss was sentenced Monday, June 6, to 40 hours of community service and ordered to pay $1,036 in fines and court costs for a gunfire incident in Akron. Doss pleaded guilty to charges of carrying a concealed deadly weapon and discharging a firearm within the city limits. He was also given a suspended 180-day jail sentence for the deadly weapon charge and a suspended 60-day jail sentence for the discharge count. If he can remain out of trouble for one year, he won't have to serve either of those jail terms. According to the clerk's office, charges of inducing panic and obstructing official business were dismissed.
