We're certainly not closing the book on the 2009 season yet. And we hope everyone sticks around for the awesome discussion that always flows from the coaching changes, free agency movement and draft season to come after the NFL regular season ends.

But we're always looking to improve our IDP coverage and very much appreciate your comments and suggestions for next year.

In the past, your comments have helped us...

Separating DT and CB into separate positions in the database
Doug Drinen's Matchup Analyzer Tool
Getting IDPs added to the MyFBG function
Our own IDPcentric Assistant Coach Forum
Additional focused preseason and inseason contentThe team has a few things on the docket for discussion this offseason (how to improve the consistency and process of our dynasty rankings, tweaking the projections process, etc), from suggestions made earlier this year.

We'd appreciate any feedback about anything you'd like to see us continue, add or improve about our offseason and inseason content and the Forums.

Thanks for reading and for being a part of the strongest and most active IDP community anywhere on the web.

Jene - thanks for all the help this year. I'm going to the SuperBowl!

I'd love to see KR/PR yards added to projections across all the tools.

Thanks,

Eph

Jene, John, Sig, and the IDP crew.

Thanks for another super productive year! I have one dynsaty team playing in the championship and another that lost last night by 2 points. Given my dynasty bent I would love to see John, Jene, Sig, and anyone else do there dynasty rankings at least monthly in the off season. While I know things slow down, just getting something up there gets me thinking and then some discussions with my league mates.

I too would enjoy a KR/PR factor in the projections/rankings. Currently, I do a dump, bump, and rearrange in excel and then tweak some more.

Thanks and safe and happy holidays to all!

:bag: I agree with all of the above (minus the KR/PR stuff)Special thanks to Jene and Anthony for tirelessly keeping up with this (and the assistant coach) thread.I think it has already been discussed this year - but more stuff on dynasty particularly as we get to mid-season next year. Maybe a weekly column (or bi-weekly) on what to expect in 2011 - in terms of players waiting in the wings.

the linking the custom cheatsheets to mfl leagues and teams is AWESOME, helps locate free agent matchup guys soo much easier...

i personally would like to see a 2nd projections set like we get with offense.... thats all i can think of at the moment

keep up the good works gents

Under the "always current" dynasty and other league type rankings it would be nice to include options for IDP players like "big play" or "tackle heavy".

I had another thought about this on my drive in today. This isn't just for IDP but dynasty in general to show similar to your weekly projections who is on your team and who is a FA when you look at dynasty rankings. It helps when you are trying to manage three or more dynasty teams keep everything straight.

No suggestions, just well deserved kudos. The IDP forum and staff have enabled me to draft league-leading defenses that go a long way towards my playoff appearances. Before a couple of years ago, defense was my achilles heel. No more! Thanks to all of you.

Very, no extremely happy with what you guys put in my IDP table. I suppose more than anything, I would like to see Bramel also do projections. I understand how inexact projections are, and the amount of time required to generate them, but a second opinion projection would make my Christmas even happier!

I am not singling Norton out here at all... but in general, I like to look at several projections when making line up choices. Then I create my own rankings for that week. I often don't agree with Dodds either, but having a second opinion projection is something I really like to use and mull over, and FBG does that for the offensive players.

I sometimes find my projections for a particular player to be very out of line with Norton's and Dodds. It's nice to be able to dial up another opinion for the offensive players. To be able to do that for IDP... well, I'd love it.

Merry Christmas to staff and everyone else. I am having my best year ever, and I owe much of that success to FBG!

Great work by everyone involved with the IDP side of things at FBG's. Keep it all coming, especially the podcasts. It would be great to hear from the IDPers with Sig and Cecil over the off season as things heat up to draft day and beyond. I'd like to see the KR/PR yards in projections too but I understand how unpredictable it is and if its in the too hard basket.

Have a merry christmas all......I hope all of you are still playing in Week 16, I know I am and I give all the kudos to the IDP team here.

This is an IDP re-draft league comment.

As IDP become more popular and therefore competitive, draft strategy is increasingly crucial. My particular league has a 25-round IDP draft and the first 10 rounds are extremely predictable in terms of both offensive and IDP players coming off the board.

Rounds 10-25 is when things get interesting. One of the last bastions of competitive advantage is making "relative value" tradeoffs during this stage of the draft. For example, these types of choices were numerous in our 2009 draft and people were extremely random in how they made their choices (and therein lies the opportunity).

Backup QB (Garrard/Flacco)

vs.

LB3/4 (Urlacher/Tatupu/EJ Henderson)

vs.

DB2 (Q. Mikell/J.Joseph)

vs.

Rookie Sleeper (Shonn Greene/Crabtree/Maclin)

vs.

Aging vet starter (Julius Jones/Derek Mason)

What mental algorithms do people use when making these choices?

FBG staff and user community has phenomenal resources for ADPs, VBD strategies, sleeper debates, etc. for both IDP and offense individually. Even the FBG forums are somewhat segregated (naturally) between the Shark Pool (offense-focused) and IDP forum.

What would be incredibly useful is more discussion/data/advice about relative value between offense and defense that integrates knowledge and therefore can help better make mid/late round drafting tradeoffs.

Because there are so many variables (league point system, team roster composition as the draft unfolds, opponents' moves, etc.) it is obviously impossible to have something like a Draft Dominator for IDP leagues. We're not talking about that.

FBG did come out with a really good article in the past that began to touch on this subject.

http://footballguys.com/08incorporatingidp.php

I would think that a combination of (a) expanding that article with more insight/data, (b) more access to IDP mock draft results (these may exist already but I haven't found any yet) and © just increased forum discussion, and (d) any other ideas might do the trick.

Thanks!
