Commish question (1 Viewer)

Last year our league voted, and approved, a league cap on free agent pick ups.

It's been proposed(by an owner that wasn't in favor of the vote)that we have revote on the subject.

Is this a common practice?

Or should rule changes have a shelf life before being eligible for revote?

Certainly not common to try and change a rule adopted last year......UNLESS the vote was very close last year and some didn't like the way the rule worked for your league. As a commish I would try and get the guy's point of view and disarm it if I felt it was frivolous......but leagues are generally democracies for making/changing rules while the commissioner has to be the dictator in enforcing them. so at worst you tell him to write up his proposed rule change AND get someone to second it......and then put it to a preliminary vote for the league to decide whether there should be debate and a vote on the rule change.

Thanks Hook,Yeah, the league vote was close. 7-5 in favor of a waiver capI know the guys point of view. He loves to make moves, and see's no problem with making 120 moves a year. The only problem is, that the majority of the league voted for this rule last year. If I allow this to go to another vote this year, am I going to have to revote on the same subject each and every year? How do I write this into our constitution? Something close to each rule made will stand for no longer than 3 years? Something along those lines?Funny thing is, only one owner met the league limit last year, and he's not even the asking for the revote.Sometimes being the commish is more of a pain in the ### than anything.
