For the past few years I have been interested in finding some consistency pattern for choosing my fantasy players. I have done this since 2003 and based it only on fantasy points scored per season and per week, not per game. For all positions, my conclusion is that the most consistent players are the ones that score the most points for the season. Consistency was determined by the number of times a player scored in various point ranges (see chart below). The players who recorded the most weeks in high point ranges were the ones who finished in the top 15 scorers for the season.Below is a summary of my findings for QBs in our 2007 ppr league where all tds are 6 points. I have tweaked my rankings for 2008 as charted below.
I will not list Dodds results here since his article is a $ one, but his article is prominently listed for comparison.
Despite the high finishes of Roethisberger and Favre, I rate them lower in consistency because of their 4 games in thelowertwo ranges. I rate Warner and Garrard higher despite their 5 and 4 low scoring games because these includedunplayed or part time games early in the season. Brees deserves higher ranking if you throw out the first 5 weeks of the season when he had his worst scores. I enjoyed Dave’s article and had fun comparing it to mine. I hope this gives you some food for thought.
