2025 QB Draft Class - Greg Cosell Scouting (1 Viewer)

Cool way to get caught up on this class if you haven't familiarized yourself yet, is listening to Greg Cosell's quick scouting of each QB while watching the player's highlights on mute. Cosell has great insights and observations about each - better than most IMO - and he conveys his thoughts well in brief summaries for each player.

Starting first with Cosell's back-end QBs (we'll work our way to his top 4 QBs later) - Tier 2 QB Summaries: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvPAn75P9z0

I'm stoked on the Will Howard and Jaxson Dart reels. Dillon Gabriel looks fiesty too, especially for a normal sized human. Howard looks explosive running; I'm surprised he isn't getting more hype. Not a fan of McCord and Ewers' lights.

Highlights:

5. Dillon Gabriel | Height 5’ 11’’ - Weight 205 lbs - Arm 29 5/8’’ - Hand 9 1/4’’
6. Will Howard | 6’ 4’’ - 236 lbs - 32’’ - 9’’
7. Jaxson Dart | 6’ 2’ - 223 lbs - 30’’ - 9 1/2’’
8. Kyle McCord | 6’ 3’’ - 218 lbs - 31’’ - 9 1/2’’
9. Quinn Ewers | 6’ 2’’ - 214 lbs - 30 3/4’’ - 9 3/8’’

OP edit with Tier 1 QBs coming this weekend, after we get a chance to discuss the above guys. Preview: Cosell swimming against the current with Louisville QB at #2.

I think this will be an excellent year for the QBs that come off the board after the 1st round.
2nd-4th should be exciting and a couple guys that might be drafted in the 7th round just so teams have them under contract to develop for several seasons vs UDFA

The reason I am focused on this angle, you look around the NFL and the vast majority of starting QBs are/were drafted in the 1st round
Even QBs who don't make it with the team that drafted them, many times they land into starting roles on their next team like a Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold

Think about it as you go over all 32 NFL teams. It's kind of an oddity when a QB makes it from the 2nd round and beyond like a Russ Wilson who was a 3rd round QB, not the norm

For sure not the norm, but there have been great (or at least longterm starting) QBs that have come from R2+... Brady (of course), Favre, Brees, Warner, Garcia, Gannon, Romo, Dak, Hurts, Purdy, Cousins, Wilson, Hasselbeck. Lamar was nearly another. I'm probably forgetting at least a few more in the modern draft era.

Still, your point stands that the NFL generally tends to uncover future starters by elevating them to first-round draft picks by the time selection day comes around.

AFC
Bills -1st
Phins-1st
Jets- 1st
Pats- 1st

Steelers 3rd and 1st
Ravens 1st!
Browns 1st
Bengals 1st

Jags 1st
Colts 1st
Texans 1st
Titans 2nd

Chiefs 1st
Chargers 1st
Broncos 1st
Raiders...no 1st but one of the most thirsty right now at QB in the entire AFC

I kind of mean present and the vast majority are all 1st round investments.
I know there are QBs that make it in terms of NFL history but not very many start in the NFL right now
I'm not saying this Draft is loaded at QB but I am almost more interested in the ones that will go after the 1st round and depending on the landing spot

You mentioned Lamar Jackson, a 1st! Round pick and I simply wanted to use the same example to show where we might see several teams want that No 32 spot to try and get say Milroe under control for a minimum of 4-5 years and perhaps longer with the franchise tag
