Computer Guys . . . A Little Help (1 Viewer)

I was using my laptop running Windows 7 Pro and had a bunch of files in my download folder. I clicked and opened the file I wanted. Then went to open another file and everything in my download folder was gone. As in gone gone. Not even in the recycle bin. I searched/scanned my entire machine and there is no evidence that the files are on my machine. There are still other files in the recycle bin, so I am guessing I did not delete the files by accident.

- Is the stuff truly gone?

- If so, where did it go and how?

- Is there a way to recover the missing files/information?
