Concerts thread - FBG's lovin' live music, we're back in action! (2 Viewers)

What's everyone's go to for last min deals?
Probably Ticketmaster resale. Maybe stubhub if it’s the day before or early that morning but not sure I want to be trying to get tickets last minute through them

I’ve never had any issues but hear a lot of horror stories.

If there’s a better option I’m open to it

My son was interested in seeing The Offspring in NJ
Figured why not, I know plenty of songs
Was an awesome time.
Would definitely watch them again

Also monitoring NIN prices in Philly at the end of the month.

Will Oasis prices ever be less then a Bryant Boat?
That's what I say about Billy Strings tickets. I mean he is good but its not like its a Beatles or Pink Floyd concert.

Billy is on another level. Deserves whatever he is charging.

Went to Jason Aldean concert last night at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. I'm not a fan of his political views (and he didn't do a lot of talking so that helped), but he sure gives a great performance. It was about 100 minutes of loud, raucous, country-rock. Also Kane Brown popped on stage for Dirt Road Anthem.

Nate Smith opened for him and played his recognizable hits.

We then hit Broadway and listed to even more live music until 2:30a. It was a great couple of days. My son turned 21 on Wednesday and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to rally last night but after a couple of vodka + Red Bulls, we were off!

I’d pay whatever he’s asking to see him again but my problem is he’s playing massive arenas now and that’s not for me anymore. I saw him twice in small venues years ago and that’s going to have to suffice until 20 years from now when he’s on the county fair circuit. He sold out the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee tonight which is about 20,000 capacity for concerts.

I’ve got Neko Case, Leon Bridges / Charley Crockett (the Crooner and the Cowboy tour) and Colin Hay booked in the next month or so with a few other possible shows I’m looking at.

Just saw Descendents and Teen Mortgage. Heading out to Denver in a couple of weeks for Ghost Canyon Fest. So far for September, I have tickets for Bob Mould, Bronson Arm, Dazzling Killmen and Tropical **** Storm (3 shows)
Descendants still sound great after all of these years.
Indeed. Saw them before Milo went to college and after Milo quit his gig at Dupont and was shocked at how they hadn't lost a step. Maybe better now.

Wow, much earlier than me. I think the first time I them was in 96, give or take a year.

NIN was amazing. They definitely didn't gain any tickets because Boys Noize was the opening DJ. I've been a big fan of his for the past decade or so. But listening to people at the bar and pre show...no one knew. His decks were at the back of the floor opposite the mainstage, right where my tickets were on floor. Incredible for me because I've always wanted to see him live. But it was funny that everyone around me didn't know where the music was coming from. They just sat in their seats and stared at the curtains on the main stage...anyway.

Beside playing the classics on the main stage with the full band my favorite part of the show was just Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Boys Noize performing 4 or 5 songs in a middle pop up stage where they re-did some songs from Pretty Hate Machine and Downward Spiral that they were remixing live and more of an electronic vibe to them. Incredible performance.

Lastly Josh Freese absolutely killed it on the drums. Great to see him back. He got the longest ovation of anyone.

Oh...they also did Bowie's "I'm afraid of Americans" Another highlight.

Sorry, I have to self correct here. I was off by about 10 years. Maybe a bit more. I first saw them in the early 90's shortly after ALL.

Saw Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs last night in Clearwater.

They played a little more than 2 hours, 20+ songs with a handful of Tom Petty & Heartbreakers hits sprinkled in, and had former fellow Heartbreaker Steve Ferrone on drums, which I wasnt expecting. It was really cool to see those 2 back on stage together having fun.

Heartbreakers hits they played:
Love is a Long Road
A Women In Love (It's Not Me)
You Got Lucky
You Wreck Me
Runnin Down a Dream

Just a great, fun rock show.

Tedeschi Trucks and Whiskey Myers tomorrow at the Greek. Should be a beautiful night of music
Great night. The Greek in the summer is my favorite venue of all. Surrounded by trees in a natural amphitheater, phenomenal acoustics, perfect cool/clear night. Susan even commented she loved how cool it was compared to the rest of the country. Pregame on picnic benches beforehand. It’s just perfect. Seeing Teddy Swims here next month.

Hardcore TTB fans were upset that this a true co headliner show. They both played 90 minutes. I liked WM. Lead singer was great and they were high energy. Brought balance to the show. But people wanted 2+ hours of TTB. I get it. Susan and Derek were on fire as were the whole band. So so good. Brought Doyle Bramhall II out for the last 3 songs which was cool

Of course, and he did a little crowd sing along for it. 😄

going to the 10th Outlaw Festival Tour in 4 weeks

Set List:

Madeline Edwards 4:00 PM – 4:35
Waxahatchee 4:55 PM – 5:55PM
Sheryl Crow 6:20 PM – 7:35 PM
Bob Dylan 8:05 PM – 9:20 PM
Willie Nelson: 9:50 PM – 10:50 PM

Looking forward to seeing Bob, have read a number of show reviews this summer saying his voice sounds stronger than it’s been in many years. Also been busting out songs he hasn’t played live in decades.

Taking another couple who are in their early 70s. This is more their scene but I’ve always loved Bobby. First LPs of his I bought were Blood on the Tracks, Blonde on Blonde, & Before The Flood on 3 consecutive paychecks (7th grade - the old man put us work in his mfg shop when we turned 10.)

The it turned into an experience tracking down the early stuff & the plethora of bootlegs out there (some were of such poor quality.) By the time Desire came out I had several inches of my stack devoted to him and it grew steadily thereafter.

Generally, not a fan of seeing my heroes at an advanced age - there’s always new music to discover - but this should be a super fun day.

FOUR HOURS UNTIL OASIS!!

#toronto
Wanna hear the review! Going 9/7 at the Rose Bowl. The videos of the tour have been awesome. Haven’t seen a crowd bump like Cigarettes and Alcohol in a long time.

So great. Two hours just rockin' out. You can see the setlist online - it's terrific.

Last night, it poured rain for the last hour. And that also was kind of awesome. Kind of increased the atmosphere.

They sound great. They played most of the hits. They had sing-a-longs with the crowd. If this really is the last tour of Oasis - that's a huge bummer. Because they still freakin' rock.

I'm seeing Wilco opening for...........Wilco in Ogden on Wednesday.

Two 90 minute sets, 35 songs. So looking forward to this one. I haven't seen them in several years.
This was a fantastic show, even with the 96 degree temperature for the first set.

They played a wide variety of their catalogue. I haven't listened to their more recent albums as much as the earlier ones but all of it was quite beautiful. I will say that Tweedy is looking like Twiggy. I hope that it's a planned weight loss.....

Flew out to Denver for this last weekend. Don't expect too many folks know many of these bands but trust me when I say that it was absolutely epic.
Give me the names of the top five bands to sample.
There were so many different genres represented, from indie pop to harsh electronic noise. I'm more of a punk, noiserock, post-hardcore fan usually (the more challenging, the better) so YMMV but my top 5 sets were:

Big'N - just good straight up noiserock . Great drummer and completely unhinged frontman.

American Motors - combine postpunk, postrock and Americana and somehow it works. Great songwriting, especially if you're from an economically depressed are and recognize or even identify with the characters they write about.

Neptune - pummeling experimental rhythmic onslaught.

Black Eyes - were on Dischord in the early 2000s but you'd never guess it. 1 guitarist, 2 drummers, 2 bassists and 2 vocalists with, at times, 4 of the members on percussion. Abrasive yet danceable.

Pink Lady Monster female-fronted dance punk. Not my usual jam but the live performance was undeniable.

Honorable mention - If you're REALLY adventurous, check out Evicshen.

Also right up there. I've been fortunate enough to catch them twice at fests this year.

Decided to pull the trigger for Nine Inch Nails in Philly on Wednesday. Felt $110 for lower level was worth it. Actually my first time seeing them live.
See ya there!
I was gonna go cheap and get a decent seat up top for like $55 but read up on the tour setup and the consensus is best view to take a lot in would be 101-102 sections
So i jumped in at $132

Saw them a few years ago at a small venue (The Met) in Philly and waaay back in 02? in NYC at the Garden. Looking forward to visuals and all that jazz in a large venue.
opener comes on at 8
NIN will come on 9 sharp

Deciding if I will jump in
SUN or MON in NJ but 2 tix and parking would make this a 1k night (for cheap seats)

I loved it. And, if they stick to what Noel said back in May, this will be it for them. I sure hope not, but it could be.

Was lucky to get a pit ticket when they went on sale, will be my 5th time seeing NIN and this seems like an awesome setup in a bigger venue. Interested to see how the two stages work out and going back and forth. Aside from seeing them in Philly on the Fragile tour, I've seen them in smaller venues (AC House of Blues x 2, The Met last year). By the way, the sound in the pit at the Met sucked last time.

Funny thing is I'll be "pregaming" across the lot at the Linc for an Eagles season ticketholder event right before the show. Go Birds! 🦅

I want to believe but....i also can see a 4th farewell tour in 2039 announced

Yikes, not last year, 5/24/2022, time flies!
Here's a video from the pit I checked for the date.

NIN last night in Philly was very good.
Good set list
Nice constant flow
Great visuals and set up
Even saw some mosh pits and crowd surfing
It was fantastic and an amazing all around visual performance. I think at one point I saw Santa crowd surfing.
Awesome show, really happy with the setlist. When they started off on the main stage with Wish and MotP I knew we were in for some 🔥. They haven't played Mr. Self Destruct, Burn, or Sin much on this tour and those were great. They hadn't played The Perfect Drug much ever but have been playing this tour probably to give the new old guy, John Freese, that awesome drum solo. Not sure how the multiple stages played in the stands but the back and forth was fun in the pit and at least loosened things up for a bit when they went back and forth.

Here's the setlist from setlist.fm...

We were talking to Santa before the show started in the pit a bit. I later learned on the NIN Discord group for the Philly show that he's been around to some other concerts too. I was about center about 3 rows of people off of the rail so right in front. We all got surprised by the first crowd surfer when he accidentally booted the guy in front of me hard and knocked off his hat and broke his glasses, he got dropped back into the crowd and didn't make it to the rail shortly after that. A little while later, we were all like, "Holy $#!t, there's Santa!" as he was carried up to and over the rail during HLAH. The funny part that we saw but I later learned not everyone picked up on (some thought his mic cut out) was that Trent started laughing and missed a verse because of it. Here's the Trent reaction video someone posted on Discord.

A guy recorded the entire show from up high and posted on YouTube, and you can see Santa go over the rail at about 1:33:45.

There are a bunch more great pictures and videos in the Discord if you're interested in checking it out.

I caught the Trent misstep...assumed he choked or something
Too funny

Super happy we got Mr Self Destruct and Perfect Drug 2 of my all time fav

Saw Spin Doctors, Gin Blossoms and Blues Traveler at the county fair in SoCal a couple weeks ago.

Spin Docs were OK, Gin Blossoms sounded absolutely fantastic, and Blues Traveler actually sucked. They just went on and on with self-indulgent "jamming" which didn't even sound that great. Concerts like this with "pop" bands from the 80's and 90's need to stick to the basics and play their hits. Didn't even wait around for BT to get to their bread and butter 'cuz it was just going on and on with no end in sight. We were there to see Gin Blossoms, mainly, and they didn't disappoint.

Gin Blossoms used to play at our local club (Canyon Club) all the time. So many hits and they are tight. Fun night

They’re ok. I wouldn’t go out of my way to see them but they’d be a fine opener

I saw them once with sponge, the spin doctors and maybe counting crows or live ? I think we went to see Sponge open
