Concerts thread - FBG's lovin' live music, we're back in action! (5 Viewers)

I had a very slow start to the year.  Caring for a geriatric dog made it hard for both Mrs. Eephus and I to go out together.  I went to see Wand by myself and she went to a bunch of shows.  Now that Bosley has passed, we're back on the trail just in time for Covid scares.  Great timing.

On Tuesday we saw The Struts and Starcrawler.  I had no interest in either band but Mrs. Eephus got on the guest list.  The Struts never did anything for me on record; every song sounds like a Classic Rock pastiche of Queen, Faces and the Stones.  But I get their appeal after seeing their act.  A lot of live bands are only as good as their frontman and in Luke Spiller, The Struts have a great one.  Starcrawler was just weird.

Last night, it was The Seratones who performed a solid set of R&B and R 'n R.  Their frontwoman AJ Haynes is a firecracker on stage.  It was nice to get out again and rock a little in these very strange times.

Love Starcrawler.

Starting to get nervous about the corona virus scare and its effects on my summer plans.  Already have tickets for 9 shows this year plus flights/hotel for Red Rocks.

I saw SXSW cancelled, any other concerts being cancelled yet?

I’m with you. I’m currently at 1 of my 10 for the year (Wire) so far, but worried about my trip to Philly in September for a show. Lots can change and probably will before then, but I’d rather not go to these shows if it puts me or anyone else in harms way.

Wire was awesome last night in Atlanta. The played a bunch of songs off their new album, but played a lot of great stuff from the past too (e.g. Ex Lion Tamer). Glad I flew up for the show, but can’t wait to get out of this Petrie dish of an airport.

The things I do for my wife. Got an anniversary trip planned in a couple of weeks from now and part of that trip is to use one of my wife's Christmas presents. We'll be 2nd row on the floor for Cher in North Charleston Colesium.  :scared:

My wife is stoked and me, not so much. I'm kind of pulling for a cancelation due to the Corona virus.

Assuming we're not all dead by the summer, this is what we have planned:

7/25 Green Day/Weezer/Fall Out Boy at Dodger Stadium

7/29 Kelly Clarkson at Planet Hollywood in Vegas

8/14 Lady Gaga at Wrigley Field

Pearl Jam postponed their North America  tour that was to be this spring and summer.

Zac Brown just cancelled including Nashville stop in April

Saw The Strokes last night in Seattle.   Talked to an event security guy today, and it sounds like that may be the last large concert in Seattle for a while.  Have tickets to Wilco on 3/19 and expecting it to get cancelled. Had tix to PJ in Oakland and have Loverfest West and Lolla this summer.  Expect both to be cancelled.

So what is the protocol for tix bought on Ticketmaster for shows that get cancelled/postponed?
Following.  My purchased tickets so far:

March - Band of Horses - Cincinnati
June - Lord Huron - Red Rocks
June - Joe Russo's Almost Dead - Red Rocks
July - Dead and Co. - Cincinnati
July - Barenaked Ladies, Toad Wet Sprocket - Cincinnati
July - Tedeschi Trucks - Cincinnati
August - Roger Waters - Cincinnati
August - Phish - 2 nights - Indy

Sorry to hear about bosley. :(

How was Wand?

I'm with you on the Struts- too affected sounding. But I have no interest in seeing them, so won't be swayed by the front man.

Still wanting to see Sports Team in May across the street from our pad at the Mercury Lounge...nice little spot.

You live by Mercury Lounge? I think I've been there a bunch of times, actually. Funny. You're down on Houston (How's it?) Street, huh? My friend's old stomping grounds are there. I joined him quite a bit.

Wand was terrific.  No opener--two sets with an intermission and a liquid light show.  Laughing Matter will get a lot of points from me when @Northern Voice gets the AOTY thread going.

Was planning to see Umphreys McGee tonight, but 2nd guessing myself.  You guys still seeing shows?
I'm not necessarily a stalwart here, but I'm not going to shows, and I'm the type of guy that's supposed to believe this isn't as serious as people would tell you. I think it's every bit that serious. Like right now.

I went to Lumineers last week (they aren't great, Mt. Joy was good). I have a bunch of concerts lined up the next month or so and I would go but I'm expecting most to be cancelled/postponed.

its loud. you probably puked in our doorway like lots and lots and lots of other people.

I haven't been there in ages- used to go to see friends' bands play. I don't have the energy or hearing left to just pop by any more... but a band I actually like and listen to- why not?

Popped into this thread to see what other FBGs are doing about upcoming shows that haven't yet been cancelled. I have a ticket for Steve Hackett this weekend and so far the show is on. Debating if I should just eat the ticket.

Also was planning to buy King Crimson tickets but now, not so sure. Will most likely hold off on them for now. Just not sure about the Hackett show.

The Chris Stapleton/Willie Nelson show, first event at the new Globe Life Field, has been postponed.

If Willie dies before this show is made up, going to be a lot of angry people.

This thread is going underground for a while :sadbanana:
Still some small venues near me with shows, although they sell out faster then I can say corona virus. Sweetwater, Terrapin crossroads and mystic theater still hosting shows for now.

Jinxed it :wall: Terrapin now closed

  they are all closed now.

Waiting to see if small show I’m supposed to go in Orlando next Friday night is cancelled...and the rest...all the way through the Summer and into the Fall. Ugh

Of course Ticketmaster isn't offering me a refund yet and are actually still selling tickets to the show.  I wonder how I can charge them for an inconvenience fee.
