Concerts thread - FBG's lovin' live music, we're back in action! (7 Viewers)

Packing to see The Eagles @ the Sphere in Las Vegas. Seen many times but this is the last. (still pissed at Hell Freezes Over Tour) ..lol

This Is IT! I Swear!

How was it? I'm going to check this out in March I think. Childhood buddy is taking over for Steuart Smith on the guitar for the remaining shows in Vegas and I am beyond excited to see him and them. Once in a lifetime kind of stuff that we dreamed of when he was first learning to play guitar in middle school. Guy was a prodigy at an early age. Taught himself how to play piano at my house - my sister SUCKED at piano, so it was fun to hear somebody actually produce something resembling music coming from our living room.

Saw a couple of shows in Vegas over the weekend. First was George Strait, Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town at Allegiant. Have to say it is so easy when staying at Mandalay Bay. Easy walk over the bridge. Concert was excellent. Little Big Town opened and were solid. You can tell when they do solos all are talented. Sometimes they harmonize too much IMO. Songs get loud. They are better when understated. Plenty of hits, especially for a 3rd act. Stapleton - what can you say? Just delivers every time. Played some covers which meant other songs had to go. Didn’t play Joy of My Life which was a bummer. But so good. Strait played a lot of his new stuff. Sounded great. Finished with all of his hits. Hard to beat Amarillo by Morning and Troubador back to back. Great show. I just prefer arenas over stadiums.

Last night we saw Garth Brooks for the first time with his residency about over. Favorite set of the weekend. Intimate venue at Caesar’s. He had so much energy and he did a lengthy encore including a lot of acoustic stuff. What an entertainer. Trisha came out for 2-3 songs and sounded great. Really glad I finally saw him.

Mixed in some excellent new Jose Andres and Bobby Flay restaurants, so overall a great weekend. @bigbottom - sorry we didn’t connect. Hope the Eagles at the Sphere was great. My friends went Friday night as well

Garth is on the short list of acts I’ve never seen but would like to

Saw him at the Texas State fair before I knew who he was - bunch of the gals we went to HS knew who he was and we just followed them around. Not being familiar with him didn't matter; that guy concerts!

Wish I could put it into words. It was great. Sound was exceptional and band was tight. I saw them with Vince Gil. It's not loud it's not distorted, best sound I've ever heard at a concert. Got to do it once. Bring your wallet. Everything is beyond expensive. Still- it was worth it.

Light of Day Festival at the Stone Pony last night. So many great bands, jams and “Asbury” moments:

Adam Ezra Band
Joe Grunsheky and the House Rockers
Willie Nile
Tangier Blues Band

Saw Papadosio on Friday. First time, and apparently they are going on a touring hiatus after this tour. Good time.

Thinking about making the 8 hour drive down to St. Paul for the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival … Hozier, Weezer, Alabama Shakes, Green Day, Fallout Boy, Sublime and others over three days. I think this is a new festival but the lineup looks great. Anyone go last year and hear about how it went?

Tedeschi Trucks goes on sale for the Greek in LA tomorrow. Absolutely going to that. Also got a presale for Morgan Wallen, Brooks and Dunn and Ann Wilson. Love that lineup so if not ridiculous $ I’ll get em
Looks like Govt Mule opening. Saw them last year, would absolutely go again but the wife says “we just seen them “ :bored:

Got my tickets for the show Mar. 15. I paid more for my seat than probably my first 15 concerts I ever attended as a younger fella, but I can't wait. My buddy has been doing great by all accounts and it's been a trip watching the videos of him up there trading licks with Walsh and Vince Gill. Cannot wait!

Fully psyched to see more live music. Here's what's on the list so far:

Kool Keith ~ MC Homeless ~ The Fleshies, Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco
Always wanted to catch Kool Keith, and I've never been to a show that combines punk rock and hip hop, so this should be dope.

Russian Circles and Pelican, The Fillmore, San Franciso
RC my new favorite band. Super heavy, doomy instrumental metal. Gonna be a rager. I urge you to listen to Gnosis. One of the best heavy albums of the last 10 years.

Kruder Dorfmeister, Fox Theater, Oakland
My fellow electronica and trip hop fans are gonna all see this tour. They're touring with a real band - which is already awesome. And they're playing the entire K&D Sessions double album. Got into these guys in 1998, so that's how long I've been waiting to check them out.

What a great opener!

Really excited about this tour. In addition to Mule, it looks like they will also have Little Feat, Steve Winwood, and Buddy Guy at some of the shows

I'm this close to getting tickets to the Oakland show and road trip from PDX. Or I might go see them in Chicago...need to go see them one way or the other. I remember using the K&D sessions double album to break in my new stereo system back in 2004/05.

Just got tickets to Underworld in May. They are doing a small US tour.

Going to see Darkside in April. (Nicolas Jaar side project)

Nice! Feels like we've been chatting music for two decades, so if you make it to Oakland, I'm buying you a cocktail. I don't know you lived in Portland. My brother's been there for years and owns a pretty famous store in Portland.

Underworld are awesome. That's another artist on my bucket list. I don't know anything about Darkside. What's the vibe?

I'm going with my buddy who recommended seeing them. I've listed to some songs and their first album. Slower more experimental electronica is how I would frame them.

I'll take you up on that drink if I make it to Oakland. What's your brother's store?

Going to see this guy on Fri. Jerry Cantrell. Guitarist for Alice In Chains. solo act now. I hear he’s a really good show. Never saw AiC so no idea what to expect.

Newish solo tune of his. …

Mule isn’t playing at the Greek. It’s Whiskey Myers. Never heard of them so looked em up. Cool sound

Solid band from Palestine (TX). Kind of a more rock version of Reckless Kelly. Good shows.

Prepare to be blown away. I have seen him twice and Alice three times in the last three years and have been amazed each time. I am working in CA an plan on at least seeing him here and possibly out in Ventura. While I love his solo stuff, he weaves Alice classics in the set list too. I saw the set list, which changes a bit nightly, at his solo stuff is so grand too. For my wife's birthday in March of 2022, we flew out to Boise to see our son and I surprised her with the meet and greet with Jerry. We were both awestruck and he could not have been more kind. ENJOY!

Going to see Billy Strings at the Yuengling center in April . Really looking forward to it. He puts on a great show.

About the only reason I'd go to Tampa anymore other than for the Bucs and maybe the mammary gland bars which I'm getting a little long in the tooth for.

Damn I was looking at a few shows I want to hit, everything is like $100+, granted it’s all secondary market but still. Oh well I’ll probably just wait until it gets closer and see if I can snag some cheaper

I bought second row tickets to see Jason Isbell in Red Bank, NJ in July. Probably the most I've spent on concert tickets ever, but I'm a big fan and looking forward to being so close to the stage.

He's playing a few nights in Cincinnati, but I'm having some concert choice anxiety that weekend:

6/20/25 Billy Strings Lexington
6/21/25 Billy Strings Lexington
6/21/25 Modest Mouse Columbus
6/21/25 Jason Isbell Cincinnati
6/22/25 Jason Isbell Cincinnati
6/22/25 Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Nathaniel Rateliff, Trampled by Turtles Cincinnati

you can't really go wrong at least.

@shuke a Billy,Jason,Willie combo would be one hell of a run and affordable if you’re willing to part with a kidney.

I was fortunate to see all those acts except MM last year and with the exception of Dylan they are great. As a big Dylan fan that hurts to say but it was bad.

For the smaller bands I can’t recommend live Nathaniel Rateliff enough and Trampled are no slouches.

My daughter got the two of us Weird Al tickets for a show in June.

Best daughter ever! :nerd:
Been to a lot of shows over the years and realized this is one I have not made it to. And I am a bit sad about that.

Got my tickets to the Nine Inch Nails - Peel It Back Tour 2025 for September in LA (Kia Forum, formerly the Great Western Forum). My daughter wants to go with me.
So far we've seen Depeche Mode and Olivia Rodrigo together.

But if make the effort to go to Louisville and get a hotel, I'll want to stay for the second Billy show.

Nathaniel was so good at the Robbie Robertson tribute. Amazing. Think I’m going to grab some tix for the Night Sweats show coming up in LA

Picked up tickets to see Glen Hansard in September. Going to start looking for a couple destination concerts for June/July.

How many times are you going to see Willie or Dylan before they die? Not trying to be assholish, it's just that by the time I discovered Guy Clark (whose name I'd seen numerous times as 'written by' of songs I liked) I learned he was ill some of the time, I figured I should go see him. And man was it worth it. I figure if an artist has done or is doing music you like and they're getting into the end of life part of their career, a ticket may be the last chance.

edited to add: I was lucky enough to see him 3 times before he died. Like watching Mt. Rushmore sing and play.

I’d probably opt for 2 nights of Billy to be honest, he might be the best act touring right now

Unless it’s the Eagles who have had 100 farewell tours

6 nights in Ashville with something like 120 songs and no repeats. That’s mighty impressive

That might be a bit excessive

In Nashville. Freezing. The Ryman is right across the street from my hotel. Saw Lee Brice’s tour bus out front as he’s playing tonight. Cool. Walked over to the box office and grabbed a ticket. Should be fun

Deftones touring with The Mars Volta. I'd love to see this show, as I've never seen either band. But stadium shows aren't my thing anymore.

Im not a huge Deftones fan, would like to see Mars Volta but yeah, hard to justify stadium prices, especially for good seats so I’m skipping this one.

That said I’m already committed to Disturbed with Sevendust at the same arena and considering NIN and Ghost for later in the year
