Concerts thread - FBG's lovin' live music, we're back in action! (1 Viewer)

In Nashville. Freezing. The Ryman is right across the street from my hotel. Saw Lee Brice’s tour bus out front as he’s playing tonight. Cool. Walked over to the box office and grabbed a ticket. Should be fun
Very very cool show. Acoustic. Edwin McCain opened. Both told stories throughout and tons of hits. First time at the Ryman. Small, cool venue

That said I’m already committed to Disturbed with Sevendust at the same arena and considering NIN and Ghost for later in the year

I'm definitely interested in one of those bands
I’ve never seen them, heard they put on a good show. Wife was the one who mentioned going. Looks like any decent seats are $150-$200 each though, plus probably another $25-$50 in fees, and I’m just not sure I want to drop $500 to see them.
Ill probably check and see if I can find any better prices closer to the event, I’m done with nosebleeds at LCA though, so I’m either going to overpay or just not go. If I can get us both in the door in lower bowl for $300 I’ll probably go for it
Coheed and Cambria is also playing another venue the same night but doubt I can convince anyone to go see that one with me
I really want to see a Ghost show though, if I had to choose between the 2 im probably going Ghost just to experience the spectacle

I saw Ghost open for Iron Maiden. It was decent. If you're into metal, Ghost is pretty lame. If you're only partially interested in heavy music, Ghost is a fun band. But essentially, they are KISS with newer costumes.

Wu Tang Clan and Rage Against the Machine publishing new music for Record Store Day on April 12. I've never seen either live, so I would be psyched if they staged full tours. This year. And if they decide to tour together, I'm scared to imagine how much I'd pay for that ticket - because that would be sick.

I saw them together in 1997 in MA... it was great. Show went wicked late though as Zach broke or hurt his ankle the night before and came in separately from the rest of RATM.

Yeah I don’t really consider them metal, I’m into all kinds of different bands though. I kinda want to go just to see what kind of weirdos show up

I think I’ve seen Rage twice, I know I saw them at the Palace in Auburn Hills looks like that was 99. Think I saw them at Cobo in 96 too.

I’d definitely go see them if they tour, I’m sure my kid would be up for them, he’s always playing the killing in the name of bass line

I'm super jealous.

I see all kinds of music outside my comfort zone. Great way to find new stuff!

First time seeing Rage for me was in summer 1996 too. I think Evil Empire had come out that week. Jesus Lizard was the opener. Top 3 show for me of all time.

My buddy would be jealous. He's a big Jesus Lizard fan.

Saw them together in Pittsburgh, same tour same year. Was awesome. Crowd mix was lit. Top 10 show for me probably because of everything.

I'm seeing MJ Lenderman and Wild Pink next Monday in SLC.
Should be a great show.

Hopefully Lenderman, unlike Andy Schauf the last time Wild Pink was in town, will let them play with the full band rather than just an acoustic set with John Ross. Really lame move by Schauf.

Think I might grab Sonic Temple passes for me and my 16 year old for the Friday set

Got my son pass for this for the two days Metallica is playing.
You going too or just the kid? Mine mainly wants to see Acid Bath, looks like Friday is nearly sold out so I probably need to pull the trigger soon. Rob Zombie and Suicidal Tendencies would both be good to see on that day
The rest I’m not sure, I know he’ll want to see cannibal corpse I’m sure

No I'm not going. A full day of this type of music isn't for me.

Saw Hyryder Friday night, often called the midwest's best Grateful Dead cover band. Awesome musicians and I'd call them more than a Dead cover band. Played a variety of things, a couple songs that even I'm not sure what they were but sounded familiar.

It's likely only West Coast punkers will have heard of these next two bands, but I'm going to see Victim's Family and Nasalrod in March.

I was hoping for Thurs/Fri/Sun to make sure I got the two Metallica sets, but Sunday is Mother's Day, that would be a super tough sell, especially since I am working every other weekend in May.

Deftones touring with The Mars Volta. I'd love to see this show, as I've never seen either band. But stadium shows aren't my thing anymore.

Im not a huge Deftones fan, would like to see Mars Volta but yeah, hard to justify stadium prices, especially for good seats so I’m skipping this one.

Covid and Zack's achilles injury kept me and my son from seeing RATM. I kept holding onto my tickets thinking ... I'll simply go when they finally do come here. With his injury, they just refunded my money.

Any Slightly Stoopid fans in here? I've been coaching youth girls softball with their lead singer the past few years; he's a great guy and donates a ton of his time to our local youth softball league.

Looks like Wu-Tang Clan is launching a big stadium tour with Run The Jewels. I hate stadium shows, but I might have to see this one.

So a guy from work convinced a group of us to go see Psychostick Thursday night. It sounded fun, so I figured what the hell. We get there, and there are THREE OPENING BANDS. Are you kidding me? I had to work Friday and this was a good 50 minutes from home, I wasn't looking to do a late night. This was one of the openers. If you know me, you know this really isn't my type of music. Still had fun though. I didn't stay for much of Psychostick, was getting to late for my old ***.

If I can walk OK I'll be seeing Professor Louie and the Crowmatix on Saturday night.
Got to see the first set and wanted to see the second, but at that point I'd been sitting still for 2 hours and my leg muscles were locking up so I decided it was safer to leave.
They're worth seeing, doing mostly their own tunes but some very good covers of songs by The Band. Professor Louis worked with The Band for a long time.

TL/DR: $25/ticket, only got to see half the show, would definitely go see again.

Man I might end up with 3 concerns in 4 days

Saturday - Daniel Donato

Monday - Disturbed, Three Days Grace, Sevendust

Tuesday - my kid bought tickets to some small metal show that he was supposed to go with an older friend that had a change of plans
1. Says 17 or younger needs a parent or guardian (doubt they are checking but who knows)
2. Don’t really want him driving there on his own

I thought this was an interesting story about concert life.

When I saw Dead and Company at Wrigley Field in 2019, a guy sitting behind us was instantly recognizable to me. They showed him on the big screen behind the stage at a D&C show in Columbus in 2017 during a song and he had this humorously tiny hat on the top of his head. I chatted him up a little and we laughed about it.

This guy ended having the seat right next to me at DDCC in Cincinnati last night. I didn't even notice until after the show when I actually turned and looked at him.

Not the biggest fan of festivals, but going to When We Were Young in Vegas in October. My daughter is going with us and it will be her first time in Vegas after turning 21. She wants me to teach her to gamble.

Sounds fun. I would embarrass her by intentionally messing up the band Alexisonfire's name. Call it "Alexis on fire" or something.

roverkid and I have seen a lot of shows together. Most recently LCD Soundsystem. She'll know better.
