Congratulations to the Seahawks fans! (1 Viewer)

In Superbowl XL, Pittsburgh defeated Seattle 21-10. Pittsburgh won because they had the better team and played a better game. They defeated Seattle on the field. Although there were some close calls by officials, almost all of them were correctly called. The officials did not decide the game; the Steelers did.

However, ever since this game, fans of the Seattle Seahawks have whined about it, and refused to admit their team was beaten. Maybe if Seattle wins this Sunday, they will stop behaving like little #####es.

I'm not a Seattle fan and it's not whining. That game was straight up theft. All Steelers fans should be ashamed, especially the ones like Tim who have never set foot in the city of Pittsburgh.

I don't think Seattle fans will ever stop behaving badly. I said in the Shark Pool that Seattle fans are the libertarians of the NFL and they cant stand not being appreciated or validated. I think it's a true statement.

 I had no idea he was a bandwagon fan. As if he couldn't get any more annoying.

So apparently there is a corner on the Seahawks who made some controversial statements at the end of the NFC title game. Did you guys hear about that? I Googled it but go 0 results.

Not a Seattle fan (and based on the way they've acted the last week in the shark pool, I certainly don't pull for them), but they were definitely jobbed in that Super Bowl. Would they have won otherwise? I'm not sure, but I would have given them the edge.

Seahawks have always seemed like a joke franchise to me, like the Browns or the Falcons. I don't think even winning the SB would change that. If the NFL is Appetite for Destruction, the Seahawks are Axl's sigh at the end of Think About You.

You're still the biggest doosh on this board. It's amazing. :lmao:

In my opinion there was really only one atrocious call against the Seahawks (illegal block on Hasselbeck) but there were 4 or 5 borderline calls that didn't go their way. Add them all together and it seems like they got jobbed. In reality it happens a lot but it is always easier to blame the officials.

Holmgren was the main reason they lost that game.

There was definitely a time in the 70's when most kids were either a Cowboys fan or Steelers fan no matter where you lived. I think about 99.99% grew out of it though. You've never even been to a Steelers home game?

No. I've been to 2 games with the Steelers at San Diego. I plan on going to a Steeler home game one of these years. I'm not ashamed to be a bandwagon jumper- I was 10 years old at the time. But they've been my team ever since.

GB you for sticking with them through all of those down years. It must have been tough.

To be fair, if you've been a fan since you were 10 and you're now almost 45, I don't think you're a bandwagoner.

Most grew out of that phase when they realized how lame it was. I think i cried when the Cowboys lost in The Catch game. I didn't even know what state Dallas was in.

The modern version of this is being a "fan" of Manchester United and going to your local "pub" at a suburban strip mall that has a satellite hookup, wearing your soccer jersey and funny hat.

I don't give a crap about Denver, Seattle, or Pittsburgh.. they are all cities I neither love nor hate.

But I am a champion of the best team winning and for games to be called correctly, and the Seattle vs. Pitt Super Bowl was one of the worst atrocities in officiating I've ever seen and it's pretty clear to me the best team didn't win on the field that day.

It wasn't as bad or egregious as the 2006 NBA finals where the Mavericks were robbed in the worst way possible, but it was pretty close.

That was the most poorly officiated Super Bowl of my lifetime. I had money on Pittsburgh and have never felt good about winning from such a terribly called game.

I am not sure why you think Seattle was the better team that day. Up until the last drive when the Seahawks were down by 11 and the Steelers defense was in prevent defense, the Steelers offense had outgained Seahawks. The difference in the game was two huge plays for the Steelers offense: a 75 TD run by Parker and the 43 yard Randel El pass to Hines Ward.

As I said earlier if you want to be pissed at anyone be pissed at Holmgren. He made several horrible coaching decisions that cost the Seahawks dearly.

That is the one Super Bowl I can honestly say my rooting interest changed during the game. I went in rooting for the Steelers, cause I thought Seattle had gotten a gift by playing a depleted-Carolina team in the NFCCG and thus didn't deserve to win it all, but it was so annoying to see the Seahawks get jobbed the way they did, that I couldn't keep rooting for Pittsburgh. That, to me, is up there with the 2002 Lakers/King series and the 2006 Mavs/Heat series, where bad officiating directly influenced the outcome of a playoff game or series.

I felt as if the Steelers shouldn't have been in the game to begin with.

The NFL shouldn't even have a playoff format where 5/6 seeds make it...

Pittsburgh shouldn't have been in that game.

Let me make it clear that I am fine with Pittsburgh, I like Big Ben, and I'm grateful that a good Steelers team denied a 9-7 team from winning the superbowl.. even if it did happen shortly after that.

I cannot wait until they add more playoff spots and a 7-9 or 8-8 team win the superbowl and finally everyone is like... um.. why did we even have a regular season again? oh, it's nearly worthless? ok, I won't watch... just like how it's not worth watching the NBA regular season because they accept so many teams into the playoffs...

Okay that is definitely a different argument and one that I am not in total disagreement with you. A 9-7 team has no business being in the post season.

Ok, but Seattle got a TD called back on a OPI call that would have given them a lead. They also were called for phantom holding on a ball thrown to Stevens down to the 5 yard line when the game was 14-10. Since you want to get into this, I'll play along.

I'm a Steelers fan and I'm not ashamed in the least. Even if you think there was a bad call that went against Seattle, you have no way of knowing how the game would have played out if the call had gone the other way.
