Consensus leaders at multiple positions (1 Viewer)

Tomlinson is almost the unanimous #1 RB, Peyton Manning is the consensus #1 QB, and Antonio Gates is hands down top TE. The FBG Projections will go members only in a couple of days, but consider these facts from the most recent projections:

Tomlinson is number one RB and its a separation of 44 points to number two, with number three being 70 points behind LT. The next 13 are within 70 points of number three.

Manning is 46 points ahead of QB #2. The next drop of 46 takes you all the way down to QB 13. Antonio Gates leads the number two TE by 30. The next drop of 30 takes you all the way to TE #9.

Curious as to whether anybody drafting 1st or 2nd in a 12 team league woould consider following the first pick of LT or SJax with P Manning and Gates in rounds two and three? Then grabbing a 2nd RB and their WRs in following rounds. Don't recall such a separation and such a magnitude of consensus picks at three positions.

WRs on the other hand goes almost to the 10th place to get the same separation as one to two at the three positions mentioned.

rzr,

It seems pretty similar to last year to me. Great opportunity for someone drafting early to attempt the stud at each position strategy although I wouldn't go for both the QB and TE. I think getting a top 3-4 WR is more important than getting greedy at positions where you're only starting one of them.

However, my thinking on this would change if it was a non-ppr league, smaller than 12 teams, that only started 2 RBs, 2 WRs, and 1 TE. Otherwise, I'd be much more inclined to go with a WR and one of either the TE or QB depending on the situation and whether we're talking the second or third round pick.

You are probably right. I was just surprised by the amount of points between #1 abd #2 in each category as well as the closeness of the top ten or so WRs. I doubt that I would pull the trigger on Manning that early unless it was a 6 pt TD league and definitely not Gates unless there was enhanced TE scoring like two ppr where WR and RB got one.

I don't know if Gates is worth that high of a pick, but I've never been in a league where Manning made it to the end of the second round, he rarely makes it out of the first...

;) I think pick #14 in my 12 team league is as far as he's dropped in the last 4 years or so. If he did make it to the end of the second, good God that would be a great pick for the LT owner.
