Down to 78 albums by readjusting to 1 album per artist. Not sure I will stick with this but I am finding this extremely difficult. Everytime I try to do some adjusting, I get stuck pretty quick.
I kind of went the other way with my choices. It was "Ok, what album would I HAVE to have? That's #1. What's the next I'd have to have? That's #2". Then I stopped when I got to 70 and submitted the list before I could change my mind.
Because, otherwise, I know me and I'd have 2,500 LPs on a list and end up in 6 months of therapy trying to winnow them down. I know I'm gonna be kicking myself as the reveals happen, but my own sanity has to take the front seat![]()
This might be a good time to re-post this Ranking Engine for those who are struggling.
As for me, I'm on a business trip and returning very late next Wednesday. At that point, I can focus on this. I do have a preliminary list that is mostly just a bunch of artist names. Also, I talk with OH about this periodically and he names 20 albums in his top five each time, but he hasn't put "pen to paper" yet.
I justified the approach when I vaulted one from #65 to top 30 before even completing a full spin. The top of your list is the top, you don't forget, but once beyond tier 1 when breaks are sometimes needed, you're prone to forget how great some albums are just because you haven't listened to them much recently. You guys are stressing me out, and mine is done.
I thought to myself the other day I haven't listened to many albums over that last week. I think subconsciously I just don't want to stumble on any I forgot about and want to change my list.![]()

We have our 4th - unique #1 overall album.
I think I might give this a spin (see what I did there?). If I do,I expect to have a lot of outliers. I am also going to find it hard to keep greatest hits off my list. I assume greatest hits that were smash albums in their own rights are out as well? I'm thinking along the lines of Bob Marley & the Wailers "Legend", Cream "Strange Brew", or The Eagles Greatest Hits, which were all multi-platinum albums.21 lists in

Doc was straight up out of the gate about that, though I think some artists who weren't allowed as much creative freedom as others at the time will be sorely underrepresented. You're tough but fair.No greatest hits compilations.I think I might give this a spin (see what I did there?). I thought there was some leeway with early artists and Doc said that would not police too heavily, if those are what have in mind. E.g., I included Muddy Waters’ The Real Folk Blues on my list even though it is a singles compilation. It seemed distinguishable to me from something like The Eagles’ Greatest Hits where everything was originally on studio albums which were pretty widely available. And if I wanted a Muddy Waters’ greatest hits album, I would have picked the 2001 anthology instead. I could see something like a Robert Johnson collection similarly.Doc was straight up out of the gate about that, though I think some artists who weren't allowed as much creative freedom as others at the time will be sorely underrepresented. You're tough but fair.No greatest hits compilations.I think I might give this a spin (see what I did there?). As of now one band has 3 Top 10 albums (and 4 in the Top 11) - it's NOT the Beatles
I’m still holding out for Floyd but yeah it seems like we have a lot of people that actually enjoy Robert plants vocals for some reasonAs of now one band has 3 Top 10 albums (and 4 in the Top 11) - it's NOT the Beatles
I'm not surprised by this at all, assuming the band is:
Led Zeppelin
If so, I am encouraged by the collective taste and judgment of the voters that have submitted lists so far.
I have a similar album on my list and Dr O hasn't sent out a hit squad for me yet, so I may be just on the right side of the cheat line.I thought there was some leeway with early artists and Doc said that would not police too heavily, if those are what have in mind. If I stretched it too much, whatever. I probably stretched it more with a few Brazil/Africa compilations that are not going to appear in the 300 anyway.
I'm outNo Eagles either
I am assuming one of these is mine, but at the same time in would have thought the artist is prominent enough that it wasn't. Time will tellNo - I mean a #1 overall album that only appears on that one list.21 lists in

Yes, some one else just asked in a pm and I said compilations where those are the only real recordings is fine. What does this mean? If I construct the most in excel but then paste it in a pm should I just ctrl-c and ctrl-v or do I need to do something else? One week away from the deadline - 23 lists are in (we have our first female perspective).
Reminder:
Submissions should be formatted as
Album Name - Artist - points
points should be in reverse of the ranking meaning your top album gets 70 points, second favorite 69 points and so on until you're 70th album gets 1 point.
It would be helpful if lists are submitted from a excel spreadsheet - but not necessary if you can't.

I made my list in Excel, and every time I tried to post it into a PM, even if I cut down to 35 or even 25 albums, I got the error that it exceeded max characters. Ultimately, I copied it from Excel and used "Paste and Match Style" to paste it into a numbered list in a PM.
@Dr. Octopus : I missed the direction to use this format and put mine in a list numbered 1-70. I assume my intent that 1 was my top album (70 points) and 70 was my lowest ranked album (1 point). Sorry about that.
Er, forgive me for being dense, but if there are no hypens, how are you distinguishing when the album names end and the artist names begin? Surely you're not going through the lists by hand, but you can't use text to columns without a delinating character...Excel and paste in a pm should work - no hyphens should be included. What does this mean? Because it's sent to me in columns already. It's usually the points column that does that and I really don't need that since it's easy to replicate otherwise. Thanks, I didn't realize that simple paste in a PM resulted in columns. ----*the more you know

If mine is one of those, kick it back my way and I'll sort it out.At this point I’m catching a lot of the “mistakes” people make with bands/albums (I.e. “the” before some bands or album titles left off), some even getting words wrong in an album title “everyone” instead of “everybody” (and far worse :cough: tim), but there’s bound to be some mistakes if people don’t make the effort on their end.
