Consensus Top 350 Albums of All-Time: 1. The Dark Side of the Moon – Pink Floyd (165 Viewers)

Even LZ4 is very hit or miss for me. Many of my favorites on there like the first two, Misty Mountain Hop, and Levee. I strongly dislike Battle of Evermore though, and struggle a little with Plants voice on Four Sticks, so I never listen to the album. Not arguing it's placement here or legacy overall though.
I'm a big fan of Battle of Evermore, particularly with the addition of Sandy Denny, but have to say the the cover by the Lovemongers (Ann and Nancy Wilson's side project) is just as good IMO.

Rumours is the eleventh studio album by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released on 4 February 1977, by Warner Bros. Records. Largely recorded in California in 1976, it was produced by the band with Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut. The recording sessions took place as the band members dealt with breakups and struggled with heavy drug use, both of which shaped the album's direction and lyrics.:headbang:

The untitled fourth studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, commonly known as Led Zeppelin IV, was released on 8 November 1971, by Atlantic Records. It was produced by the band's guitarist, Jimmy Page, and recorded between December 1970 and February 1971, mostly in the country house Headley Grange. The album contains one of the band's most well-known recordings, the eight-minute-long "Stairway to Heaven".
Massive record. I love all of it, yes, even Evermore. Levee is absolutely epic in my opinion. That would be my vote for the playlist.
I would have no problem with Levee. Bonzo’s drums are absolutely booming, so it would be a great choice. My preference, which isn’t overwhelming on an album of this quality, would be to go to the hard core blues rock that they are famous for on Rock and Roll.

Red Hill Mining Town, In God's Country, and One Tree Hill are my personal favorites because of that discovery.
My favorites are Running to Stand Still, Red Hill Mining Town (what a vocal!), and One Tree Hill. The album is filled with great songs. My late bf loved One Tree Hill. He used to say, "This is what freedom sounds like." He also loved Going to California on LZ IV. During his mandolin phase, he practiced for hours to get the mandolin part right on that song. When the Levee Breaks is my favorite on that album. It's my favorite LZ song in general (tip of the hat to Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy). It oozes the blues.

No surprise, but this song on the Singles soundtrack is when it first drew my ire. I didn't listen to Zeppelin albums until after college and didn't even know it was Zeppelin song or on IV.

A very pleasant surprise to see this land where it did. Knew it was headed for the top 15, but didn't think this high. I had it #20 and probably was too low. What a stunning accomplishment by a band that took all its negative energy and turmoil and made one of the best pop albums in history. And this coming off its fantastic self-titled album just a few years prior.

Not a weak song in the bunch - and yet one outstanding tune that didn't make the original pressing ("Silver Springs") could arguably top them all.

I find Joshua Tree a little dull - I've just never been much into the Edge's playing. I like Achtung Baby and their earlier stuff better. Can't say JT isn't a great album - but just not for me.

No idea why/how I left Rumors off - like I said I didn't want to change my list when others came in. since I didn't think that was fair. It's a beautiful album but it has been overplayed a bit I guess.

Battle of Evermore is one of my favorite Zep songs
The difference in tastes is what makes these threads so great. I find it grating and repetitive, plus no Bonham awesomeness which for me is reason #1 I am listening to them in the first place. I find Plant's voice bothers me more in my old age, and tracks where is even more front and center tend to be my least favorites.

I’m not sure there’s anything but mandolin and vocals on that song. That is the kind of versatility that LZ brought to the table that most others couldn’t, and I think that is why the group has remained so popular through the years and enabled the group to withstand the negative of copyright liberties that they took.

I was thinking about something some one said earlier about Jimmy Page getting all the credit for Zeppelin, but how he failed miserably after LZ ended. The Firm was so much worse than the sum of it's part's and that was his "solo" career highlight.

Plant has had a tremendous solo career, and a few underrated albums. I love his current works collaborating Allison Krause. He's had a waaaayyyy better solo career than Page's. Heck Bonham's son had a better career than Jimmy post-LZ.

I left it off because I like their self titled just as much if not more, but I am a fan of Rumours. When I worked in a resort in Florida, I used to do an aqua aerobics class in the olympic size pool. I had a mixed Fleetwood Mac cassette that I used for the session. It was great, because everyone knew the songs, and FM has high energy songs and then relaxed cool down songs. I was never trained to do aqua aerobics, so I made all of the **** up, but it worked. I'm sure a professionally trained aqua aerobics instructor would gasp if they attended one of my sessions.

I actually am a tad surprised that The Joshua Tree finished top 5, but no complaints from me since I did rank it, although I do think Achtung Baby is a little better (I had AB 44th, Joshua Tree 49th). Side 1 of The Joshua Tree is just absurd. You could argue for those being five of their best 10 songs right there on Side 1. Side 2 is good as well, but it does make for a slighly uneven feel given what a monster Side 1 is. Still, a classic record in every sense.

Good album but shocked at top 5.

I fully agree with this post, but if Plant's voice wears on me and my main "in" for Zeppelin is the rhythm section, which is non-existent on this song, it's already going to be a tough sell for me.

I used to think this was a hot take, but Achtung was yet another oversight for me, and I do feel myself preferring it to Joshua Tree some days depending on mood.
The thing is, while nothing from Achtung Baby may not be as great as Streets or Bullet, there are still plenty of upper tier U2 songs there (Until the End of the World, Ultraviolet, One, The Fly), and while I like all of Side 2 of The Joshua Tree, I like almost everything from AB more than it (Side 2 of TJT).

I here this, I still love Stairway, Levee and Going to California, but I have never cared for Four Sticks or Misty Mountain Hop. And I don't need to ever hear Black Dog or Rock and Roll again.

Abbey Road is the eleventh studio album by the English rock band the Beatles, released on 26 September 1969, by Apple Records. It is the last album the group recorded, although Let It Be (1970) was the last album completed before the band's break-up in April 1970. It was mostly recorded in April, July, and August 1969, and topped the record charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom. A double A-side single from the album, "Something" / "Come Together", was released in October, which also topped the charts in the US.

The algorithm is doing work today. There can't be more than a handful of U2 songs in my 1000's deep library and one from Joshua Tree was pulled this morning.

Mr R and I both voted for The Dance, as well as Rumours. I don't often like live albums, but I do like that one.

Weird timing, because I was just thinking about this and was going to post something similar. I really like those collaboration albums and was going to say I like his voice better in that format and on other recent albums. He doesn't get to that higher Zeppelin range.

I was also going to post that Jimmy's best thing recently is the live album he did with The Black Crowes. It's interesting to hear the Zeppelin songs with Robinson singing vs. Plant.

Four Sticks is the only one on the album I could go without. I roll my eyes when Black Dog, Rock N Roll, and Stairway get criticized but I also understand that the latter likely suffered from excessive overplay for our elders. The last 2 songs on the record are my favorite, but since I've heard better covers of Going To California than the original Levee gets my playlist vote.

I think we've talked about this before, but this would be my pull if it were included. Effing Lindsey.

I won't fight against The Chain, but Gold Dust Woman is my vote. Very clear #2 favorite in their catalog.

Yes that's some good stuff but it's basically a live Zeppelin cover band so it's hard to give him post-LZ credit for that stuff.

The swings are too extreme for me on this one. Songs I find amazing like Come Together, Something, Here Comes the Sun, Polythene Pam, and others. To get to those I had to wade through Maxwell, Octopus, and Mustard. Those are the types of songs that have always driven away from The Beatles and stopped me from listening to some of their popular albums on the countdown. I still love Rubber Soul and Revolver top to bottom. I love enough of the rest of their songs that I need to listen to other albums and make a playlist soon.

If you did not have this album in your Top 70 albums, I feel like you've made a lot of other bad decisions in your life. I also think slightly less of you.
Man, tough to be called out by the organizer. I have three Beatles albums on my list and a 4th that just missed. None are Abbey Road. I just don't like it as much as the rest of you do.
Obviously I am joking - although I find it hard to believe someone can not love that album.

The side two medley is likely the greatest accomplishment in recorded music - with the possible exception of the Dead's "Terrapin Station."
