Convince me who to take at 1.03 in rookie draft (1 Viewer)

I'm in a full rebuild in a 16-team 0.5 PPR (1 PPR for TEs).  I own DJ and Hunter Henry and the cupboard is literally bare beyond that.

Taking Barkley at 1.01 and have been shopping 1.03.  Trying to move down into the 6-7-8 range.

If I'm not able to move down, I've been flip-flopping between Michel and Chubb... with Penny being a distant third thought.

I'm starting to lean towards Michel given the upside.  Would be a nice RB3 to plug in with DJ/Barkley.

Thoughts?

I just picked at 3 and 4, I took penny at 3 and Michel at 4. I’ve been down on Sony through the whole process but had to roll the dice on the massive upside he could have. I’ve liked penny as well so I guess you really have to go with your gut or try to move back a few and let someone else make up your mind.

Gah.  Still conflicted.  Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Part of me likes Penny.  Instant impact.

Part of me likes Chubb.  Emerging offense and talented.

Part of me likes Michel.  There's some Kamara here.

Part of me likes Jones.  Big opportunity.

I just had the same situation.  I went Penny at 1.03.  I feel like he has the least question marks.  He is younger than both Chubb and Michel by almost a year.  He can catch the ball.  Seattle was reportedly willing to take him at #18.  He is in a great landing spot competition wise.  His line may not be great, but I think that could open up for more receptions.  I would go Penny and if you aren't sold on him, Id go Chubb.

Thinking in terms of tiers, and talent only, I would put Chubb, Guice, and Michel in a tier above Penny, Freeman, and Jones. I would favor Michel because of team, talent, draft stock, and competition. Penny is not as talented, but still very very good and in a situation to get loads of work as a rookie. The seahawks oline had wilson running for his life all the time last year, and to me that doesnt bode well for a rookie rb. I also think pete carrol makes odd decisions as far as RBs (kinda like the ravens) so its hard for me to be excited about any RB there. they randomly cut alex collins and a few others I cant think of over the years.

Chubb I think has the best chance to be a long term success. has the build and proven ability to recover from bad injuries. Great oline, year or two to learn behind hyde, young promising quarterback with surrounding wrs. Chubb may not produce anything useable this year, but i think Chubb takes over lead duties from Hyde either later this year or next year.

I would add Penny to the first tier just because of his expected usage as a 3 down back and Michel down to the second tier because of all the weapons in NE. The offer from the 1.04 guy is a fair offer but it really doesn't do much to help you. I'd stay put unless you get a better offer.

Yeah, I can see it both ways. The tiers i listed were talent only, but if you add in expected usage and landing spot then there is absolutely a case for Penny at the 1.03, especially if you need immediate impact.

PPR:

I'd take Michel personally.

I'd probably take him 2 over Guice. I don't see Thompson going away as long as he's healthy and believe Michael will be a bigger passing threat on a much better offense. Michael just pops off the screen with his quickness.

For PPR purposes, I have both Penny/Michel ahead of Guice/Chubb.

1.04 guy offered 1.03 / 2.01 for 1.04 / 1.15 ... meh
2 spots where you might care for 1 spot you're trying to get out of making the decision - did you take it?  I would have if I were you in a truly conflicted position.  Those two spots in my drafts can mean the difference between getting a guy I really covet (Miller for example) or having him sniped right ahead of me and now Gesickie is the BPA - yuck.

Personally, I have Penny a solid 1.03 over the others.

I agree with this thinking.  If you don't have a preference at 1.03/1.04 - meaning you are fine with any of the top 4 RB's and cannot decide then improve on the back end and still get one of the top 4 guys you have on your board.

If you really have an opinion between #3 guy and #4 guy and like #3 much better than #4 then stay put.
