Dillon's ADP is around the mid 4th round, but he's scored 12 rushing TDs each of the last two years. I think it's fair to expect him to play 13 games rush for 1000 yds and score 10+ TDs which would make him a total steal if you can grab him in the 4th. Is Maroney that much of a threat or is an injury that much of a risk that I shouldn't be this excited about him?

I'm actually thinking the same thing actually. I think that Dillon is definitely undervalued. Everyone seems to always be looking for the next big thing. It's why Rod Smith has been such a great value for so long, and why Curtis Martin was a great value for quite a few years. If Dillon slides, I'll take him straight to the bank.

Let's see. Dillon turns 32 this year. The Pats spent a first-rounder on Maroney. Dillon has already indicated that he expects to be in more of a committee role this year. None of this says 1,000+ yards and 10+ TDs to me. It's very rare for a RB over the age of 30 to fall out of the 1,000 yards club and then return to it, and for anyone who watched Dillon last year, it was clear that he was not the same player as he was the year before - and the Pats weren't the same team, either. Also, it's very dangerous to base rankings on TDs instead of on touches and yard per carry and ppg stats. TDs are extremely variable from year to year - look no further than Willis McGahee, who was overvalued last year b/c of his TDs, but who tumbled b/c of a lack of TDs. I think Dillon is at the right price.

That's the main thing you must remember when considering Dillon this year. People see 12 TD's and they think it wasn't a bad year - it was a horrible year, and yes, he was good for a lot of TD's, but they were mostly runs inside the 5-10, and he didn't run well the entire season. TD's are nice, but yes, extremely variable.

Corey Dillon looked very old, and very slow last year. He is in a good system. But, has a stud rookie on his heals. In my mind he is nothing better than a 4th round pick.

I had Dillon last year and when starting him I was pretty much letting it ride that he would get a TD. It was either TD or bust pretty much every game last season with him as he rarely got enough yardage to salvage the same if he didn't score. His stats might look pretty last year but he was frustrating as hell.

So does anyone know what N.F.A. stands for? I don't. Thanks.

I bet I know the middle word ...

"My motto for the whole year - I can’t give you the definition of what I’m about to tell you - is NFA. You guys figure it out," Dillon said. "When you get back to your desks and are like, ‘What’s this guy talking about? NFA? What is that?’ then you’ll know what I’m talking about. This is a serious business. I’m just out here trying to help the team win and get in as great shape as possible and tackle the season."No F'in Attitude is my guess (may be obvious to others, took me a while - I'm slow). He's going to be a team player and do what needs to be done. So he says. We'll see if/when he's not starting and realizes he'll be cut next offseason how well that works.

:goodposting: this is why i am leery of dillon and will probably pass on him in my draft

Even if the Patriots did not draft a RB, Dillon would be no better than a late 2nd round pick due to his age, injury concerns, and falloff at production. As a 4th rounder, he has the potential to surprise, but he also comes with the baggage of an early handcuff, with the possibility that a season-long RBBC could make both RBs statistics suffer. So... Dillon is about where he should be.

No fooling around, but I doubt it's that clean.
I'm with Mr. Blonde on this one. I managed to pick up Dillon in the 5th and handcuffed him later on so I'm one of the ones takin a chance he's 'not foolin around' this season.

I honestly believe the pats have owned this division for so long now that Belichick actually "saves" guys who have any injury for the playoffs. He's that confident in his backups AND he was taking advantage of a season long advantage of owning the division.

It makes owning RBs on NE a nightmare....

Off the wall thought, but I do believe he does it...

My take is that Dillon's value will be determined by Maroney's talent and production. If Maroney comes out shifting and juking and making players miss here and there - then I think we'll see less of Corey Dillon as the season goes on. If Maroney coughs up the ball too often or doesn't find the obvious hole or can't shake tacklers then Dillon may wind up having a higher value this year.

Personally - I think Dillon is on the way out, but I said the same thing about Rich Gannon in his late years too. It finally happened, but I was 3 seasons too early. Gannon didn't exactly have anyone breathing down his neck, Dillon does.

I didn't want him last year, I don't want him this year. I'll take a gamble on an aging WR, but an aging RB with an upstart replacement waiting to happen generally doesn't work out too well.

As an owner of Maroney, I'm interested in getting Dillon on my team. I'm not willing to pay too much because I view him as a one year solution at this point. But man, people are giving Dillon away in leagues and that seems a bit premature.
