One thing I have not praised Costco for is the parking lot. There is no where else that they actually give you space to park and then space between cars. I thought about it because this person took forever to park as I was leaving and I was thinking how in the world does it take this long to park in a Costco parking spot for crying out loud.

Parking is awful on the weekend but you are right, the parking spaces are great. Even if you park in the middle of a spot that’s next to the cart return. You can still open the door and get out. You can’t put a TV into the door on that side but that would be stupid. I am amazed when people pull through spots. I rarely, if ever, don’t get a cart full of stuff because mine is not super close but still, everyone parks so they can put stuff in the back of the car/truck easily.

One more benefit to an EV - front trunk makes pulling through even better and more worth it
 
Just bought a bunch of stuff from Costco via Instacart. They had some deal to save $20, so I didn't have to deal with the parking and lines. Probably saved another $100 by not buying stuff that I didn't go in there for.
 
I’m sure it’s been mentioned but getting through the gauntlet of sales people is tedious. They’re usually nice about it as they’re not interested in haranguing you but still.

I did that a while back on the app.... saw they were giving like $20 credit and free delivery for buying something like $75. I went in and bought all the stuff on sale that were interesting and got it right over the minimum. Because... yea.... that is how I roll. :D

Yea.... never have a problem. The most that happens is someone in a monotone "Horchata" (example from today). They are usually surrounded by people at mine so they don't have to do much selling. It is the favorite part for my kids at Costco.

Now that you mention it, the other Costocos in my area dont have as many as my closest one. Yeah, there are about 4 or 5 sales people at kiosks close to the entrance near the electronics/jewelry section. About 2-4 times a year they have a person doing a demonstration with a mic and speaker near the store center. Then at the end there is the very sad HVAC person hoping you wont look at them.

There’s the problem. If you want McDonald’s don’t get fooled by McDowell’s and if you want Costco, go there. Never go to Costocos, it’s a sham.

I recently switched to Costco pharmacy and I want to use the app to refill an Rx. I tap on "refill from a list" and there's no list, just a prompt to enter my prescription number. Am I missing something, or does Costco expect me to memorize this, or do they think I tote my RX around for easy reference?

Last time I got my eyes checked it was $60 out of pocket because they don't have an agreement with my eye care coverage, and I had to file paperwork on claim for frames. Walked past the eye exam office today and saw sign that said exams are either $110 or $160. No thanks.

Could not get a satisfactory answer in the store for how to manage my Rx's with their app; drove to Sam's Club and spent about 5 minutes going completing the process of moving them over.

Not a good Costco day. Turned off auto-renewal just to feel better. I'm sure I'll turn it back on, but I have a couple of months to evaluate if it's worth reactivating.

Sorry, I could not give a better update than that yesterday, my eyes were still sensitive from being dilated.

Here you go, I called Costco on Monday May 12th to make an appointment for an eye exam. They told me they had an opening on Tuesday May 13th at 1:45pm, so I jumped on it. As the call was ending the lady on the other line said, "we'll see you tomorrow for your free eye exam". I did not have a chance to inquire further as she hung up.

I arrived to Costco for my appointment yesterday, 10 minutes early. I checked-in, filled out a brief medical history form and was seen by the technician shortly thereafter. She told me the exam would be $85. I mentioned that the lady who took my appointment said that the exam would be free and she had no idea what I was talking aboot.
 
At least our costco, if not company wide, no longer does the big six pack of chocolate chocolate chip muffins. They now do an 8 pack of smaller muffins. Blueberry and other flavors but no chocolate chip.

Yeah, they announced that a while ago. Finally rolled out at ours too. And it's no longer buy 1, get 1 free.
 
We had these Korean Beef Skewers from Costco last night for dinner. 5 stars. Very good. You basically get a pack of already marinated and skewered pieces of beef. You basically open them, and throw them on your grill for 8 minutes or so. Pair them with some rice and you're good to go. Really good. Even my daughter, who doesn't typically like beef, devoured them. I think it's because we let her just eat them off the stick, but whatever works.

Same. For awhile they did an 8 pack of smaller chocolate chop muffins that were horrible and not the same as the large 6 pack ones. Why change something good into something worse? They stopped the small 8 pack chocolate chip ones and only have other flavors.

They were across the back aisle from where they put the prepared foods (wraps, pot pies, stuffed peppers, etc.) in our Costco...In the open, tall refrigerators where they keep the cheeses and charcuterie stuff. Not in the door freezers. The skewers aren't frozen, just refrigerated.
 
We been using a ton of bottled water as our frig is on the fritz and the display keeps beeping like someone it touching it when no one is.... the only way I have figured out how to get it to stop was to not change the filter so it remains on the the change filter screen. I love the fact that I can go to Costco and get 12 cases of water like $45. Anywhere else and the cost doubles.

Oh and got my Executive Membership bonus award certificate the other day. :pickle:

My wife and kid were playing with that in the store yesterday. My wife was really tempted by it, but I talked her out of given the $95 price tag for what is basically a giant piece of plastic.

Price of Plinko is down to around $50 (in store) from the $95 originally. Decided the price was right.

It still seems like one of those things fun for about 10 minutes, but bringing it down for a game night with family at a lake house for Labor Day weekend. So, will at least get that use out of it.

Executive Members drive disproportionate value​

Costco’s decision comes at a time when the company is demonstrating robust financial health. The retailer generated $254.45 billion in revenue in 2024, marking a 5.02% increase from the previous year’s $242.29 billion. The company’s stock has delivered solid returns for investors year to date, over 5% as of midday Thursday, with shares trading approaching $960 compared to $910 at the start of 2025, demonstrating resilience in a volatile market environment.

The numbers behind Costco’s Executive Membership strategy are striking. While Executive Members account for approximately 47% of Costco’s total membership base, they generate 73% of the company’s sales. This outsize spending power explains why Costco is willing to invest in perks that cater to these premium customers.

With nearly 80 million total paid members worldwide as of the most recent quarter—a 7% year-over-year increase—Costco’s membership fees alone generated $1.24 billion in quarterly revenue.

Costco’s enhanced Executive perks come as competition in the warehouse club sector heats up. The company currently commands 54% of combined visits among the three major warehouse clubs, with Sam’s Club capturing 36% and BJ’s Wholesale Club taking nearly 10%. I'm both full of shame and thrilled. My wife and I just returned a mattress we bought at Costco....14 months ago.

It was one of those purple Mattresses. It was $1800, so on the cheaper end of "nice mattresses." It was great for about 6 months, then I swear it turned to cement. We both had just massive shoulder pain. We went thru a dozen different pillows and nothing helped. Finally decided we couldn't take it anymore and got a tempurpedic. Shoulder issues were gone within about 5 days.

We were were gonna try and sell the old one on FB, but figured why not try the Costco return policy.

No questions asked, maybe an eye roll when we rolled it in, but $1800 right back on my card.
