Randy Moss has restructured his contract again, making it more likely he'll need a new deal after 2006.
If ever there was a player that would perform better in a "contract year", it's Moss. Now his cap number is $12.02 million in 2007 and $13.52 million in 2008. Al Davis loves his star players, but Moss will need an MVP-type season or the Raiders will want to cut him or re-do his entire deal after this year.
If Randy does not renegotiate again next year, his cap numbers will account for 10% of the Raiders cap. This is pretty much unheard of for a non-quarterback. My question is would a player like Randy Moss ever be cut? I don't see another team trading for him with those type of cap numbers. Moss might decide to renegotiate again next offseason, but I have the feeling that he is not going to be very happy with Art Shell & Walsh's offense this year. Add to that the fact that he has come out and said that he would have prefered to have been traded to Atlanta, and it is possible that the biggest play receiver in the game might be on the move after this season. What say you?
P.S. Sorry if this is a honda
