Lean On Me - Club NuveauAmerican Pie - MadonnaFor the "worst" cover thread, I'd start off with Coal Chamber (featuring Ozzy) performing "Shock The Monkey".Yessir, nothing says "world music" like alternative metal.![]()
me too. I also like Sonic Youth's version of Ca Plane Pour Moi over Plastic Bertrand's.I like Sonic Youth's version better. Much better."Superstar"Carpenters over Delaney & Bonnie (called "Groupie" (Superstar))The original is great, but Karen takes that tune to a new level.
Loses a lot of the "mysterious" sound when SOAD does it.The Metro - Original by Berlin, covered by System of a Down
TouchingReally like Kermit the Frog's cover of
Couldn't agree more. Beyond brutal. That entire Coal Chamber album should be buried in the desert like the Atari "E.T." game. For the "worst" cover thread, I'd start off with Coal Chamber (featuring Ozzy) performing "Shock The Monkey".Yessir, nothing says "world music" like alternative metal.![]()
Cornflake Girl - Jawbox
You've probably heard this cover, but in case you haven't, and you're a Jawbox fan :I prefer the version with just Dylan and his guitar. And the version from the 30th Anniversary Concert surpasses the Byrds version.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4UcaLHaabY"My Back Pages" (Byrds) down?Actually, Kris Kristoferson wrote it, but I agree. The two Dylan covers I prefer to Bob's are Hendrix's Watchtower and the Jerry Garcia Band version of I Shall Be Released from the '91 live release.Me and Bobby McGee (Janis Joplin)Original - Roger Miller.
Sorry if its a Honda but...Hard to Handle (Ottis Redding/Black Crowes)
And can somebody explain to me what honda means? It's something that is in-authentic.Sorry if its a Honda but...Hard to Handle (Ottis Redding/Black Crowes)And can somebody explain to me what honda means?

Ok, now that is funny. Excellent work. It's something that is in-authentic.Sorry if its a Honda but...Hard to Handle (Ottis Redding/Black Crowes)And can somebody explain to me what honda means?

I had no idea that it was an Ottis Redding songSorry if its a Honda but...Hard to Handle (Ottis Redding/Black Crowes)

You should not only be IP banned for this, you should be dipped in honey and staked out to an anthill.Sheryl Crow's version of Sweet Child O' Mine
It's something that is in-authentic.Sorry if its a Honda but...Hard to Handle (Ottis Redding/Black Crowes)And can somebody explain to me what honda means?
So true.On a side note, medium aristotle called me and told me had a print of the Mona Lisa that pans out far enough that you can see a guy waggling his penis at her, so the smile is much more authentic in his copy.If we weren't doing this, this thread would be about three posts long. Now people are just listing covers they like. No way are this many covers better than the originals. That, and the long winded debate is too much to scroll through.:unsubscribe:
Couldnt find a video of the performance, but heres the audio with pics:The girl on American Idol sang House of the Rising Sun a couple seasons ago. It was better.
I strongly disagree, but her recent record is freaking fantastic.Couldnt find a video of the performance, but heres the audio with pics:The girl on American Idol sang House of the Rising Sun a couple seasons ago. It was better.
Same here until about a month ago and the BC version came on while I was driving my old man around and he said the OR version is much better. Came home, gave it a listen and the old guy was almost rightI had no idea that it was an Ottis Redding songSorry if its a Honda but...
Hard to Handle (Ottis Redding/Black Crowes)![]()
Wild World - Maxi Priest (original by Cat Stevens)

Thanks for clearing up irony for us moops. If the band sucks, chances are the cover they did also sucks.Stop listing sucky bands people
Saw an earlier mention of the Judas Priest cover of Joan Baez' 'Diamonds and Rust'. Helluva cover. 'The Green Manalishi (with the two-pronged crown)' is a Fleetwood Mac song, also covered, and tremendously well, IMO, by Judas Priest, to the point where not many folks even associate that song with Fleetwood Mac...Blackie Lawless, frontman of the band W.A.S.P. is a HUGE fan of The Who, and has covered several of their songs. I'm a big fan of both bands, but I enjoy the W.A.S.P. versions better, especially 'The Real Me' and '(I don't need no) doctor'...Hard rock band Keel does a decent job with 'Because The Night'...
the Priest covers are money. I liked disturbeds land of confusion too. Metallica - am I evil, helpless, the princeI prefer the version with just Dylan and his guitar.
Not usually a fan of the "all star" jam sessions ... but that KILLED. McGuinn is so solid, can see the reverence he has for Bob/this tune ... didn't even notice Harrison 'til about the 3 minute mark, and he shines brightest of them all (imo) ... oh, and Neil Young's solo >>>>>>>>>> Clapton's. Wow.
Another one I love by them isA whole ton of Pearl Jam ones:
Sonic Reducer
Crazy Mary
Last Kiss
Heart to Hang Onto
I Got You
It's OK
Masters of War
Lay Lady Lay
At there are some that would be considerd blasphemy to mention, but they are some amazing covers
Rockin In The Free World
Baba O Riley
Love Reign O'er Me
"Light My Fire"/"Roadhouse Blues"/"Break on Through" (Eddie only with remaining members of The Doors)
On board w/this ... love the original, but Orgy amped it up wonderfullyI personally like Orgy's version of Blue Monday better than New Order's. Not sure anyone else likes either.![]()

First one I thought of26 posts and no "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" - Guns n' Roses?
