COVID reflections, the good stuff (1 Viewer)

My cynical Covid 19 opinions aside, and not to say everything has been roses - I thought I would start a thread to be the antithesis of the COVID Divorce thread.

Upon reflection there are really some amazing and priceless revelations and experiences to come out of this time we are all getting to ourselves, voluntary or not:

  • after some adjustments, the wife and realized we still like each other a lot - we have rekindled the friendship/lover side of our relationship that had taken a backseat to parenting/working.
  • my kids are awesome, 11 and 13... the extra couple hours each day (they dont want to hang with us all day) have been just priceless - I cant express how lucky I feel to get this extra time with my kids right now.  The most special memories out of the least special activities.. just time watching movies, shooting hoops in the driveway, wrestling, helping with homework, puzzles/board games, walks, playing catch, etc.  Invaluable.
  • projects - my lawn is ready to rock, painted a couple accent walls, mulch and pruning, garage clean and organized, closets clean and organized, etc, etc.  Awesome.
  • neighbors - everyone hanging out outside in the evenings has brought us all closer.  People I haven't talked to for 3 years appear to be pretty cool.
  • family - we are alone in san antonio.  For whatever reason, we now facetime/zoom with my family in seattle/tucson a ton.  As opposed to talking on the phone for a minute every couple weeks.
  • random #### - my dog could not be happier, I get to drink beers and watch TV on my porch every day, getting better at spanish online, sleeping in a bit longer, working out at home, and on and on.
Anyways - I thought the positives have more than outweighed the negatives these last couple weeks.  I doubt I'll ever get this kind of opportunity again in my life.

This is what I focus on rather than all the garbage the world is throwing at us right now.  Hope y'all have some good stuff you can take from this as well.

Today will be the first time I trim my dogs nails.  She has always went to a groomer, so it will be a new experience for the both of us.

That's on our "to do" list tonight. Our dog goes insane when it's done and we need to put the cone on her.

Peanut butter helps bribe her too.

The wife and I have talked about doing "Bloody Sundays" on our porch for years. It took a pandemic for us to actually do it.  We live on a scenic drive so on nice days the vehicle/people watching is amazing  Shout out to @[icon] for recommending Sobieski vodka. The spicy rye undertone is perfect for bloodies.

Is a bloody Sunday what I think it could be?

Awesome to hear man.

A lot of what life is for people is their perception and reactions to what's happening around them.

Glad you like! Still one of the best values in Vodka IMO. Good stuff.

All my adult life I've been a fingernail biter.  I never wanted to do it and it wasn't a nervous tick - I would only do it in private and only as a replacement to using clippers.  I couldn't even explain why other than that's all I ever remember doing and it became just a really bad habit.  I'm now going on 6 months using nail clippers.  I doubt I ever would have stopped if it were not for the pandemic.  So I got that going for me, which is nice.
