I was on the road last night, so I had to catch the Dallas/New Orleans game on the Cowboys radio network on Sirius. Waters was a great safety, but he has to be one of the worst color men I've ever heard. For you regular listeners, is that an accurate statement, or did he just have an off game last night?

First, he has the down-home drawl, which I can get past if the content of what he's saying is interesting. But it's like he was drunk or something. He barely even mentioned the game. I was expecting him to break out a full weather report or start singing showtunes in the 3rd quarter.

My lasting memory of Waters in the booth is from a NFL Films program. Dallas is coming back against Washington. Staubach throws a game-winning TD pass to Tony Hill. Waters is gushing... "You gotta LOVE these Cowboys. They're the most exciting team in America."



The play-by-play man for Dallas, Brad Sham, is really good BTW.

I also caught the Saints broadcast on another channel. Whomever THAT color man is was even worse than Waters! Talk about a good ol' boy.... I honestly had a hard time understanding anything he said. Someone should tell him to remove the chewing tobacco before entering the booth. Anyone know who that was?
