Cowher eyes Giants, Texans, Fins Jobs (1 Viewer)

I wasn't aware that the Giants job was available? Aren't they in good position to make the playoffs right now?

Since Cowher relocated to North Carolina, weren't the Panthers on a possible list of teams?

Oh, wait. I see. Carolina stinks now. Atlanta, the Saints, and the improving Bucs are there in the NFC South, too. And Cowher just wants to coach where there is plenty of talent or where (Miami) they'll pay him big.

Let me know if he's interested in taking a job in Detroit or SF---flawed teams on a losing treadmill. Look, I'm a Steeler fan and wish he'd come back to Pgh regardless of Tomlin's success to date. But an owner would have to be desperate to overpay for a guy 4 years removed from coaching when they can land a Russ Grimm or another more inexpensive younger promising assistant coach who's been in recent battles.

I've been a fan of Cowher's in the past, but what in the world is he doing here? Releasing a list of the teams he'd like to coach for? Low class move IMO. If he really is only interested in a few teams, call the owners behind the scenes and tell them he's interested in the job. No need to make a play publicly for people's jobs.

He's probably trying to get Richardson off his wallet. The Giants gig is unavailable.

Cowher is shjt without LeBeau
Well, he did lead them to an AFC Central title and the AFC title game in 1997 without LeBeau, followed by three seasons of mediocrity and topped by a 13-3 season in 2001 with a loss to the Pats in the AFC championship game. LeBeau has been integral to the success of the Steelers over the years, but the uneven results Cowher achieved without LeBeau is something we Texans fans would take in a heartbeat. How many here realize that 1994 was the last year the loyal fans of pro football in Houston were rewarded with a postseason appearance? 1994! That is a looooooong time ago. Hey Bob McNair, DO SOMETHING!!! If you don't want to fire Kubiak, then bring in a competent, proven defensive coordinator/asst head coach. We deserve better.

Carolina seems like it would be a good spot for him. Outside of being close to home he would get a franchise QB (Luck) and a good stable of RB's to establish the run. He would have his work cut out on the defensive side.....

Houston makes the most sense IMO. Good QB and talent on offense. Plus, he has players like Williams, Cushing, Ryan already to help build the defense around. The team has underperformed under Kubiak so I think they're much better than their record. He'd be the right guy to get them to play to potential and make them a playoff team.

Carolina does not want a high $$ coach - the owner does not believe in it

I don't think there is any question that football-wise, Houston is the best destination for him. He already has a top offense in place with a franchise quarterback, Hall of Fame WR, and elite running back. If he wasn't considering the Texans, we would likely know it. He wants the Houston gig, it's just a matter of waiting on Bob McNair to decide Kubiak's fate.

I think he ends up in Houston too. WHy would you want to coach a team with no QB(Mia), no offense(Mia), he can work on defense like what Dungy did in Indy, go coach Houston.

One reason you can discount the recent report about Cowher and particular teams is that the story comes from Chris Mortensen citing a source "close to Cowher."

Mortensen. In other words, nothing to see here.

I think the Dolphins would be the most appealing. Makings of a very, very good D. And there are a lot of pieces on O. . . except qb. He would make them a winner in short order.
