Crank (Consistency Ranking) scoring is a scoring system that helps ranking players by their consistency. Percentage of games where they are "elite" or "startable". If you're elite 80% of the time, that's better than being elite 30% of the time.

I think what Jeff is doing is the way to go here. I'm no longer writing about consistency. While it has its merits to view what has happened, I'm no longer experimenting with it. For me it's time to move on (which I believe I noted last year) and I think Jeff's been doing a nice job with it for a while.

More fantasy points = better consistency = more quality starts

The 2nd two items don't really add anything. They're just another way of saying that as a player's average PPG increases so does the likelihood that he beats any arbitrarily chosen point threshold in any given week.

I'm going to un-lurk to say that I loved this article in the past and have used it every year as part of my tool kit. I think for some FF is a gamble and for others they like the soft warm blanket of consistency. Sorry to see that you've stopped experimenting with CRank, I hope others will pick up the torch. Keep up the great work (i.e. targeting Bennett this year) -- this stuff is why I keep coming back.
