Cruise control (1 Viewer)

Since I’ve been commuting by car 122 miles round trip during the pandemic, my mind wanders.

If you’re on cruise control and you’re descending a hill, the control slows your car. Do your brake lights come on??

Many newer cars are equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control, where the brakes are used to slow down the car. In that case, your brake lights would come on.

If you don't have ACC, then the brakes won't be used and the brake lights won't come on.

The adaptive cruise will only slow you down if there is an object in front of you.  Your brake lights will not come on in either case.  The slow down is done by the computer with the throttle to keep the cruise at set speed or to keep the object in front of you at a predetermined distance.

No because it’s not using the brakes to slow, it’s adjusting the accelerator.
