Culpepper..... (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
I cut him two weeks ago and just resigned him onto my practice squad.

Someone has made a larger bid for him in my contract dynasty league.

As you can see I have Drew Brees signed long term and I have tony romo who'll be an RFA in 2007.

What are your thoughts?

I can cut a few guys that are dead weight and sign Pep to my active roster but is he worth it?????

IMO Culpepper only has value if he can find a team with the right kind of system, and right now there are very few teams that employ that type of system.

Then again, the Raiders will be needing a QB in '07. ;)

If all you're cutting is "dead weight" than Hell yea, he's worth it.In your case, risk <<<<<< (possible) reward.

If you have dead weight guys then cut them and place C-Pep on your squad. He's got upside over dead weight guys any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Culpepper has lead ALL players in my dynasty league in two of the last five years, counting this season. Check out his injury, no way should he have been starting at the begining of this year. I felt he should have sat the entire year and at the very least been PUP listed for six/nine games. For him to even be able to make it onto the field earlier this year was a minor miracle IMHO but their is no denying that he wasn't ready and it showed. So if the decision is some dead weight smuck or C-Pep, heck what is their to consider? No brainer, cut the dead weight and go with the high upside of Culpepper.

I think you missed the most important part.

Someone made a claim on him and I have to place him on my ACTIVE roster.

I have him on my PS now and i have till friday to match.

Watching him this year scares me and I highly doubt that he'll amount to much next year. Reading a defense without his securty blanket (moss) makes him look like Bledsoe (it's uncanny). Scared to run and scared to throw, not a good combo and with his history of fumbles it's really not a good combo!!!!!

Culpepper will not be running scared next year. he will be running hard and with 100% confidence. He looked like he could read defenses to me his whole career. yeah he makes mistakes. But Fantasy wise he is money when he is healthy and playing with confidence.

Keep him and bear the fruits when he goes off and you can get good value for him in a trade.

I don't think anyone missed that part. You said yourself that all you have to do is cut some "dead weight" from your active roster to move him up. If you're only cutting dead weight, you're not risking much for a guy who has a track record of fantasy stardom. No one's saying that his is guaranteed to be bound for stardom again, but if he was, he sure wouldn't be sitting on the waiver wire, would he?

Fixed.Oh and the guy can't read the comic page, let alone, an NFL defense.
