Curtis McNeal

-ESPN has him listed playing at 5-7 180

http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/379383/curtis-mcneal

-3 star recruit from the 08 class on rivals.com

http://rivals.yahoo.com/usc/football/recruiting/player-Curtis-McNeal-63054

- Had only 24 carries in the first five games of the year, but seemingly got more of a workload after his 7 carry 74 yard 1 TD performance vs Arizona

-Has over 10 carries in all of the last 5 games

-running for over 7 YPC this year against elite competition

-has 5 TDs in the last 6 games

I have not seen the kid play and the only highlights I could find are:

High school:

USC vs Notre Dame- Breaks a tackle on Mante Te'o:

I dont wanna judge because I have not seen him play yet, but I'm wondering if people have caught any of the last 5 USC games, if so what do yo think of this kid. Anyone who takes a feature back role at USC peaks my interest

I'm a USC alum. McNeal has proven to be USC's best RB this year, better than previous starter Marc Tyler. It's only the last two games that McNeal has actually started. I expect he will the rest of the season (only two games). He was academically ineligible last season. The best thing about him is he runs really hard and strong for his size (he is not even the 5-7 he is listed as). He is rarely taken down on first contact. His legs are always moving. He runs low to the ground and often drags multiple tacklers for extra yards. He compares to Jacquizz Rodgers, though I don't think he has Rodgers' speed. On his 80-yard run last game against Washington, he was chased down by the safety at the 10 but put a little stiff-arm out and the safety made a poor attempt at a tackle. I think he is a very good college player but don't know how that will translate to the NFL. I think Rodgers is better and he hasn't gotten much of a role yet in the NFL, though I think he will in the future. McNeal could be pegged into the third-down role because of his size, but he hasn't shown much in the way of receiving skills at USC. He also hasn't been given much of an opportunity to catch balls. But when freshman RB Amir Carlisle has gotten into the last two games at the end of routs, he's already looked like a better pass catcher than McNeal.
