No. It just means they are not sure exactly how long, but he is certainly out for the immediate future and it could prove lengthy.Does indefinitely mean entire season?
yeah, getting your ankle rolled up on makes you a bum.Getting shut down against a super tough D makes you a bum, even though he had a bad drop. LT got 25 yards against that D, is he a bum?A bum is a guy who quits on his route and lets a DB get an easy pick. Of Hackett, Jackson and Berrian, who did that this weekend?Another over-rated bum like Vincent Jackson.....all these guys who continue to draft over-rated overhyped bums like these continue to lose in FF. Same, he was WR #4 (of 5) for me and Berrian went off the board as a WR #2.Another over-rated bum like Vincent Jackson.....all these guys who continue to draft over-rated overhyped bums like these continue to lose in FF.I drafted Hackett as my number 5 WR, yet I have done extremely well over the years in fantasy football. Certainly, at least for the short term (4 weeks) and he has the chance now to make it last much longer.Bump for Burleson?

Obu has hammy issues, maybe Courtney Taylor. But IMO neither of those will hold DJ out of the lineup when he gets healthy, Nate could. Not if he keeps fumbling it. Pleez tell me this is some sort of cruel joke on us Hackett owners!saw it on espnwow this sucks for all of the people who thought HAckett would be a huge sleeper...
This actually perfect news. It gives me a bum to drop, and I had none. Just what I was looking for.Pleez tell me this is some sort of cruel joke on us Hackett owners!saw it on espnwow this sucks for all of the people who thought HAckett would be a huge sleeper...
Do you think he is someone to cut based on this news? "Indefinitely" seems to imply a long time, but it is by definition not a definitive timeframe. Do we know if it is a high ankle sprain? I would hate to cut him and have him come back in 2 weeks. I wish we knew more. This actually perfect news. It gives me a bum to drop, and I had none. Well he is the 3rd WR on the team, looking to split time at that position with Burleson, and now he is out indefinitely. Even if it is just a couple of weeks (which with a high ankle sprain is usually longer than that), I would not hesitate to cut him if you have some kind of quality in the WW.Do you think he is someone to cut based on this news? Hackett is (was) listed as a starter with Branch - ahead of Engram and Burleson. There was speculation that he might split time with Burleson, and Engram would come in for 3 WR sets. Now, it would appear that Burleson will be a hot pickup, with a starting spot for at least a few weeks, and the opportunity to earn an edge over Hackett when he does come back. Do we know for sure that this is in fact a high ankle sprain? I havent seen that confirmed yet, although it seems like a safe assumption.Well he is the 3rd WR on the team, looking to split time at that position with Burleson, and now he is out indefinitely. Bummer. I was really looking forward to this kid getting his chance to shine. We'll have to wait a bit longer now. Anyone who tells you they have a proper evaluation of this guy already is full of it. He may be the real deal. I like what I've seen so far, but just haven't seen enough. Also, injuries happen. Not much you can do about that. I don't believe anyone is "injury prone". He did get his ankle rolled up on. Certainly not his fault.D.J. Hackett Injury Serious

WR D.J. Hackett suffered a high ankle sprain, according to Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, and is going to be out for a significant period. Holmgren was not specific about the amount of time Hackett would miss but it sounds like it is at least a month, perhaps longer.
Ben Obomanu is ready to play and should practice on Wednesday and should step in to take the place of Hackett. Holmgren said Obomanu would have gotten a lot of reps in Sunday's game if he was healthy.
Holmgren also brought up the possibility of Seneca Wallace playing WR in a pinch, a fairly strong indication they are going to sign a third QB. He said Jim Zorn has a pretty good feel for who is out there and available and if the signs somebody they will just sign him not bring anybody in for a bunch of workouts. Ken Dorsey was in last week, remember.
There was a bunch of other stuff Holmgren discussed which I will cover throughout the afternoon but I wanted to get Hackett's injury up ASAP.
Thanks for confirming it. This makes it easier to cut him.Thats an interesting quote about Obomanu. I assume that they mean he will step in to take on a role in the offense, but the way it is written it sounds like he will step in and take Hackett's role as a starter. I thought it would be a safe assumption that Burleson would be the guy to benefit from this. I know Obomanu had a great preseason, but has he passed Burleson, who also had a great preseason? Anybody have any insight on this?http://blogs.thenewstribune.com/seahawks/2..._injury_seriousChuckLiddell said:Do we know for sure that this is in fact a high ankle sprain? Sounds like just poor phrasing. Nothing I saw or heard points to Obu overtaking Nate. All the talk was if Nate would overtake DJ, whuch an ankle injury is now going to leave all that debate unresolved. However, from the flashes I've seen of Obu, it wouldn't surprise me if Ben does push Nate for time if Nate keeps fumbling. They like 4 WR sets so Ben would see a lot of time as the #4anyways, especially if Holmgren says he was going to get reps if he was in as the WR5. The Hawks only dressed 4 WRs yesterday so when Hackett went out they couldn't run those plays. Also Obu is recovering from a little hammy strain so he won't be full speed quite yet. Thanks for confirming it. This makes it easier to cut him.Thats an interesting quote about Obomanu. I think there's little to no chance that Obomanu will have any impact this season, even if Hackett is gone for the year. Burleson and Branch will start. Engram will play the slot. Over the past several years Seattle's #4 WR has had very little impact in games. They were planning on using some 4WR sets last week, but it was game planned specifically for Tampa Bay. The bottom line is I don't believe Obomanu will get the chance unless another WR goes down with an injury.Thats an interesting quote about Obomanu. My biggest worry about Hackett before the season was the stories that he would split time with Burleson. This may give Burleson a shot to take charge of that job. However, Burleson had the opportunities last year and couldn't take advantage of them. But it doesn't help Hackett's value that he will be out for awhile.mad sweeney said:yeah, getting your ankle rolled up on makes you a bum.Getting shut down against a super tough D makes you a bum, even though he had a bad drop. Engram is the one to get. Led the team in rec. last week. He is solid and Matt likes him. In PPR leagues he is solid. Nate is a 4th or 5th FF wr option at best. He is a good return guy and thats about it
I was super high on Berrian this summer but even I never drafted him as a WR 2. He was always my WR3 and in some cases WR4. I admit that I had him as WR #22, but with the way drafts unfold etc. I was able to get him as WR3, if not WR4 in every draft.WR1 looks like S.Smith, C.Johnson, R.Wayne, T.Owens, M.Harrison, L.Fitzgerald, T.Holt, A.Boldin, TJ Houshmanz, A.Johnson, R.Williams, J.Walker.WR2 (13-24) L.Evans, M.Colston, D.Driver, D.Branch, H.Ward, L.Coles, B.Edwards, P.Burress, S.Moss, R.Moss, B.Berrian, J.CotcherySame, he was WR #4 (of 5) for me and Berrian went off the board as a WR #2.Sweetness_34 said:Another over-rated bum like Vincent Jackson.....all these guys who continue to draft over-rated overhyped bums like these continue to lose in FF.I drafted Hackett as my number 5 WR, yet I have done extremely well over the years in fantasy football. Take it from this Bears fan: That was not a real good post. I was just as happy about DJ in round 10 as I was about Berrian in round 8. Equally happy about Kevin Curtis in round 11 as well. The bottom line is that I really needed those 3 to fill in at my WR2 slot since I drafted Steve Smith, Bulger, and a crapload of RBs in 1-7. Good thing I dropped Shipp to take a flier on Crayton minutes before the Thursday game. I suddenly really need the depth...:( Spoken like a true Bears' fan.Sweetness_34 said:Another over-rated bum like Vincent Jackson.....all these guys who continue to draft over-rated overhyped bums like these continue to lose in FF. I think Holmgren said it would be awhile. Reports suggest at least a month.Any update on a timeframe?
From Tuesday/Wednesday Players in the News:Texican said:Any update on a timeframe?
*** Wednesday Update *** WR D.J. Hackett (SEA) will reportedly miss at least a month as he recovers from a high ankle sprain. However, HC Mike Holmgren said on Wednesday that the recovery schedule is uncertain but reiterated it is not in danger of being a season-ending injury.WR D.J. Hackett (SEA) has a high sprain on his right ankle, HC Mike Holmgren said Monday, and is out indefinitely. "He's going to be down for a while. I can't tell you how long," Holmgren said. "Those things are very unpredictable."
