RB D.J. Giddens, IND (1 Viewer)

D.J. Giddens has been a prospect on the rise, and his showing at the Combine cements that. Giddens has good size at 6-0, 212, and he displayed speed at 4.43. He scored a 9.78/10.00 RAS score. He runs a bit upright, but he has a smooth running style, and he is shiftier than you expect. He has the production profile you look for, racking up more than 1,300 yards rushing this past season. I’m honestly surprised there is not more noise being made about Giddens.

The depth of the class will reveal some bargains, he definitely could be one of those.

Kansas State's DJ Giddens is one of my favorite RB prospects.

Not the fastest or strongest, but he just has UNREAL elusiveness to his game.

Ryan Fowler
The Denver Broncos hosted Kansas State RB DJ Giddens for a 30 visit, per a league source.

6’0”, 212 lbs ball-carrier rushed for over 1,200 yards in ‘23/‘24 with 21 total TDs combined in his final two seasons. Ran 4.43 in Indy with a 10’10” broad & 39.5” vert.

Kyle Posey
I fell in love with the way DJ Giddens manipulates second level defenders. He doesn't go down on 1st contact. 3rd in the class in missed tackles per 100 touches. 4.43/39" vert/10'10" broad at 212 pounds. Explosive, elusive athlete, who falls forward. Gimme. RB2.

Ted Nguyen
If Raiders don’t draft Jeanty, Giddens would be a fantastic pick in the mid rounds

Jacob Gibbs
DJ Giddens out of K State:

+ NFL size (6'0" + 212)
+ Athletic testing
+ 50-581-4 receiving final two CFB seasons
+ Avoided tackle rates clearly show up on film

Every-down RB skillset flying under the radar because there are so many in this draft class

Kent Lee Platte
DJ Giddens is a RB prospect in the 2025 draft class. He scored a 9.78 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 48 out of 2099 RB from 1987 to 2025.

Wanted BADLY for this guy to end up on my Chicago Bears. He will be a late round flyer for me in every league I do this year. It will take an injury to get playing time, but he’s my #2 RB in this class after Jeanty. Just wish he could’ve landed in a better situation. Give it time though. May take a year or two or three. When I watch him, it’s like somebody threw Matt Forte and Lev Bell into a blender and ended up with DJ Giddens. His lateral agility without losing momentum is something that can’t be taught.

Almost too much praise, but I also like the player. Having said that, unless you’re a Taylor owner, the cost of a roster spot for potentially several years may be more expensive than I’m willing to do, especially in shallow leagues. If you have very large rosters, or even better, a taxi squad, then by all means knock yourself out.

Wait, what? He’s a late round flyer but he’s your #2 back? Please explain?

I'm guessing he meant he had him #2 predraft maybe?

I understand people from Texas can’t read, but in real NFL terms and not just fantasy, he was my pre-draft #2 RB.

Late-round flier vs #2 RB in the class still seems like a massive gulf, just due to the NFL-versus-fantasy factor, and where he was drafted. Well, I'm thinking dynasty though. If you're referring to redraft, that could make plenty of sense.

Late round roookie RB picks don't have the luxury of being afforded 2 - 3 years. Colts will draft another RB next year that will bump Giddens down. Heck, in year 3 he'll probably never be heard of again. UNLESS Taylor suffers a serious injury, which IS possible. Then he might get a chance to show what he's got.

As much as I’ve criticized for too much love for Giddens, you’ve gone completely the other direction. If Giddens shows up in the work he does get, I can definitely see the Colts not wanting someone to replace Giddens as a priority in 2026. Why in the hell would they? Landing spot aside I liked Giddens going into the NFL draft.

Because teams do it all the time. Look at all the teams that have 3 solid RBs or 3 RBs with "different skillsets" that they rotate and have frustrating RBBCs. I'm not saying Giddens doesn't have skills, just that since he was a late round pick, he won't be allotted a whole lot of opportunities. Colts still have Tyler Goodson whom they like and they brought in Khalil Herbert. How many times have we heard teams say "we stayed true to our draft board and took BPA"? If there is another RB sitting for them next year, it could happen. I'm just playing devils advocate and speaking hypothetically, I know. However, we do see it every year. And I'm curious if the colts rotate RBs more this year to try and save the wear and tear on Taylor, or they may grind Taylor into the ground. Those QBs are gonna need a solid running game because they've shown nothing to keep defenses honest. I live here in Indy so I'll try to add anything I hear on Giddens during training camp, etc. So far, I've not heard anything on Giddens...it's all been Pacers talk.

Well, as a Colts Homer I can say two things. I like Giddens as an addition to the RB room and discussing a Giddens replacement now seems silly to me. Put it this way, as a dynasty manager it currently isn’t high on my list of priorities. Most didn’t pay much for Giddens, so even if he doesn’t work out long term, what are you out besides cheap draft capital and a roster spot?

Not that this is lock to matter, but its worth noting in my opinion:

Jonathan Taylor has been one of the hardest worked RBs in his 5-year career and has missed between 3-7 games in each of the last 3 seasons. He's the 4th highest paid RB in the NFL and has no guaranteed money after this season, a season where if the Colts don't make the playoffs, its possible/likely they blow up the front office, and possibly the roster with it.

I think its honestly 50-50 Taylor is on the team in 2026. So if Giddens shows out in limited work, or maybe not limited if Taylor goes down again, the wait for him may not be very long. Honestly, I like Giddens more than a lot of the RBs (Tuten, Blue, Marks, Hunter, James) going ahead of him. I think he's a very good use of a 3rd round rookie pick. I think he could be another Chuba Hubbard, who was drafted behind an even better RB than Taylor.

@32BeatWriters
“Giddens may carve out some sort of roleregardless of what's going on ahead of him with Jonathan Taylor and/or Khalil Herbert, but at this point, he should mostly be considered a handcuff for Taylor with upside in case of injury to Taylor. The Colts really like Giddens, so he'll likely be given the opportunity to win the RB2 role. However, if he proves capable in pass protection and/or as a pass-catcher out of the backfield, he could have weekly value as the Colts' third-down back.”
