I can't see how this isn't changed in the off-season.BWAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHWEE
dumbest rule in sports
He funbles any other place on the field it goes back to where he lost possession. Why does the end zone make it different? No way.
DerekDavid Carr.Didn't need to score. had a 1st down if he goes out of bounds. He's just like his brother. Dumb.
Veteran play.Raiders get a call here saving the drive.
Seemed like acting on Crabtrees part instead of actually trying to get the football.
And in a 3 point game. They don’t need a TD to go to OT.Maybe players should stop trying to reach for the end zone it would been 1st and goal at the 1 if he just tucks it in.
Let me spell it out for you... don't fumble through the end zone!He funbles any other place on the field it goes back to where he lost possession. Why does the end zone make it different?
Or don't fumble the ball? Stop blaming the rules for player's mistakes. Why does fumbling through the endzone = automatic turnover but fumbling out of bounds = dead ball.
Makes no sense, at all. Spot it at the point they used to snap extra points.
Bring the ball back to where he lost control. He funbles that at the 50 and it goes out at the 47, it comes back to the 50.Let me spell it out for you... don't fumble through the end zone!
Carr should know the rules of the game... don't fumble the ball. why is that so hard to understand?Bring the ball back to where he lost control. He funbles that at the 50 and it goes out at the 47, it comes back to the 50.
Not a double penalty. A touch back.Dumbest rule in sports. It's basically a double penalty -- 20 yards PLUS a turnover. It should be one or the other, but not both.
Dumbest players in sports.Dumbest rule in sports. It's basically a double penalty -- 20 yards PLUS a turnover. It should be one or the other, but not both.
We were expressing our opinion about a bad rule. Why is that so hard to understand?Carr should know the rules of the game... don't fumble the ball. why is that so hard to understand?Bring the ball back to where he lost control. He funbles that at the 50 and it goes out at the 47, it comes back to the 50.
Carr understood the rule. It being a dumb rule is not mutually exclusive.Carr should know the rules of the game... don't fumble the ball. why is that so hard to understand?
It's the only rule in the NFL where you lose 20 yards AND the ball. Not a double penalty. A touch back.Dumbest rule in sports. It's basically a double penalty -- 20 yards PLUS a turnover. It should be one or the other, but not both.
Because #####ing about well known rules when they don't go your way is kind of stupid? We were expressing our opinion about a bad rule. Why is that so hard to understand?
I'm saying it needs to be changed. Punishes players for trying to score.Carr should know the rules of the game... don't fumble the ball. why is that so hard to understand?
Who are you even arguing against? I'm not a Raiders fan. I don't own Carr. It's literally the worst rule in football.Because #####ing about well known rules when they don't go your way is kind of stupid?
Any familiarity with the NFL at all? It's the only rule in the NFL where you lose 20 yards AND the ball.
Its a fine rule.Who are you even arguing against? I'm not a Raiders fan. I don't own Carr. It's literally the worst rule in football.
No, it punishes players for fumbling while trying to score.I'm saying it needs to be changed. Punishes players for trying to score.
If McNabb didn't know the NFL had ties, why should Carr know about that rule?Carr should know the rules of the game... don't fumble the ball. why is that so hard to understand?
Right. It's a touchback. The fumbling team should keep the ball and the ball should be placed on the 20. It would be consistent with all other rules regarding fumbles by the offense.Any familiarity with the NFL at all? It's the only rule in the NFL where you lose 20 yards AND the ball.
Its a touch back.
Right. The rules reward the defense for doing something that it didn't do. The defense gets a turnover whether they recover the ball or not. That's dumb.Essentially, they give the defense the equivalent of a recovery when you fumble through the end zone.
15 yards is t punitive enough. Team needs to drive the field. Throw a deep pass. Just haul the guy down. 15 yards? Big deal. Just maul him.The touchback / end zone / fumble rule is fine.
The rule that is the dumbest in sports is that DPI is a spot foul.
It assumes the catch, which is ridiculous. Especially in light of how incredibly precise the rules of what constitutes a catch are these days (e.g. 2 feet, possession, football move, control, etc) - so if a catch is that friggin complicated, why are they assuming a catch for a ball that wasn’t even caught and assessing what can amount to 40-50-60-70-80 yards?
Utterly stupid. Worst rule in sports. 50 yard Hail Mary that’s barely catchable into double coverage & if the DB interferes in the end zone it’s 1st and goal at the 1?
Way too much impact on a game with a judgement call.
Make it 15 yards, 1st down FFS.
ETA: Crabtree played it perfectly - vet play. But it shouldn’t be a 50 yard play.
Carr’s fumble wouldn’t have even come up if not for that.
Then it should be reviewable.15 yards is t punitive enough. Team needs to drive the field. Throw a deep pass. Just haul the guy down. 15 yards? Big deal. Just maul him.
