Dallas Clark signs with Ravens. Impact? (1 Viewer)

Clark was targeted 12 times last night, and twice in the red zone. It's very hard to predict TDs, but he's targeted 8-12 times every game he's going to produce, no matter how old and slow he appeared last night.

If he gets 12 targets a game this season it will amount to 204 targets - He would have finished second to Calvin Johnson's NFL high 205 targets last season.

If he gets 8 targets a game this season it will amount to 136 targets over the season - He would have finished with the second highest TE targets last season, one target more than Jimmy Graham.

That's a lot of opportunity.

The Ravens have no one to catch passes, and if game one is any indication Flacco is going to look Clark's way frequently. Call me crazy, but I would rather own Dallas Clark over Julius Thomas at this point. Thomas is getting lots of hype, but the sheer volume of balls thrown to Clark will make a top five TE finish very possible.
If the trend continues, if nothing else, he will be steady and consistent in producing points each week. Maybe not 20+ games or anything but definitely a guy you know won't hurt you.

Clark looked shaky at times, but 7-87 is nothing to sneeze at. By sheer volume of targets he is likely to get alone, he is worthy of rostering in any type of PPR league.

Could be money in 1.5 PPR for TE leagues. When does Pitta get back?

Doubt he'll get 12 targets again for the rest of the season though...

He might a couple more times. Who else is Flacco going to throw to? Rice might get sick of getting 6-7 1 yard check downs while getting blasted right away.

Torrey SMith is the only real WR they have, but his game isn't really catered to getting a lot of targets.

Assuming he continues to start and play the vast majority of offensive plays, he will be lumped right in there with the other 15 TEs who till put up low end TE-1 numbers.

Thing is he dropped a wide open short TD.

Catches that and he would have had 8/90+/1.

Pitta was primed for an excellent year, he would have been drafted pretty well I'd guess. Clark is in the same situation.

I like Clark this weekend.

The Browns have a formidable front seven and proved to be exceptionally difficult to run against last week. This may limit the Ravens run game.

Haden is a shutdown corner who will likely match-up against and quiet Torrey Smith.

While Marlon Brown impressed last week he is still raw. As we saw in the Pats game, raw receivers make mistakes which leads the QB to look for a more reliable option.

I can see Clark getting numerous targets again this week.

Clark had 60 offensive snaps week 1. Dickson had 39.

Brown had 67 offensive snaps, Stokley 57.

So Clark,Brown, Stokley seem to be rotating behind Smith.

If Clark holds on to a couple more of his opportunities he would have had a pretty good game. I agree the Browns look a bit better against the run than the pass.

The Browns need to let Richardson carry them. They had Weeden throwing way too much. I thought this was a problem with the last coaches, yet there it is again. Norv seems like he wants a Sproles like role/COP in the offense. Someone please let him know Richardson can do that job too.

I don't expect that ratio to continue. Dickson was being managed due to his hamstring injury.

As for Dallas Clark that might biggest discrepancy between real world performance vs fantasy performance I can recall seeing, out of a TE at least. He looked so old and slow in that game I really thought we might see the first player ever retire in the middle of a game.

Here is the other thing. I'm not big on predicting injuries but if the Ravens try to throw it to him even 6-8 times a game he won't be around much longer. In fact I'd only give him 2-3 more games at that level of usage until he's hurt.

Clark did take some hard shots and he has a long history of injuries.

With Pierce not fully healthy I do expect a continued higher pass to run ratio however.

I bid hard on Clark in every FFPC league and am starting him everywhere. Torrey Smith is Mike Wallace Jr. Haden will shut hus one trick pony down.....someone has to catch passes....it will be Clark
