Dallas Cowboys To Be Featured In "Hard Knocks" (1 Viewer)

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― CBS 11 Sports has learned that the Dallas Cowboys training camp will once again be featured as part of the NFL films series "Hard Knocks."

The show, which will be aired nationally on HBO this summer, documents the day to day process of training camp in the NFL.

This will mark the second time the Cowboys will be featured on the show.

The last time NFL film cameras ascended on the Cowboys camp was in 2002, when Dave Campo was head coach. The extra attention did not help Cowboys that season as Dallas finished the year 5 and 11.

Other teams featured on the series include the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Cowboys will open training camp in Oxnard, California in late July.

Does this open the door for more "Cowboys bashing", or is this good sense in that the Cowboys are viewed as a true Super Bowl contender this year?

I was hoping it would be my Cowboys. Like them or not, they make good TV. JJ is prone to letting NFLN have more access than the vast majority of teams (whether it's vanity or not, LOL).

Well it is pretty obvious Dallas is a true Super Bowl contender Andy and anything will encourage more Cowboys bashing. I think it shows Dallas is the team that brings in the ratings.

of course it was the cowboys

we dont have enough TO coverage

maybe jessica simpson will have a few cameos

on the plus side im interested in seeing the 2 new backs

Romo . TO . Pac Man . Jerry Jones .

The Cowboys have some made-for-TV storylines that HBO would be foolish to ignore.

I'm OK with it... Cowboys season was my favorite to date, but I was hoping for... oh, I don't know... Pittsburgh?

I still have the first season (Ravens) on VHS... that is still the best one..

I would like to get this converted someday if anyone knows how to do it.

Dallas again? They already had their show.

Oakland and Miami immediately came to mind as teams that would be more interesting to watch this summer.

Because they only use contenders, like the Chiefs? :o
I never implied that they only used contenders. It's rather obvious that they haven't in the past.I only asked if it was a "good sense" choice this year (as opposed to other years).

Great. Back-to-back seasons of teams that haven't won a playoff game in over a decade. Who's going to be on Hard Knocks next year, the Lions?

I'd pay big $$$ for behind the scenes footage of Millen working that waiver wire and calling agents of guys for tryouts.

I think this is bad for Dallas. This team has proven they cannot handle distractions. Jerry Jones needs to shut the media train down and let these players accomplish something before they are glorified. I really believe that last year the entire Cowboy organization believed all their press and hype and they would walk into the Super Bowl. The more distractions the Cowboys are handed the better it is for the rest of the NFC.

Dallas accounts for around 15% of total licensed NFL sales.

They are the NFL's Yankees...who account for roughly 20% of MLB licensed sales.

Of course the league will take any opportunity to promote.

If Comcast is forced to put the NFLN on their base package then I'm for it. If NFLN stays on the premium package then I don't care. Just win baby!!!

Did I miss something? What does this have to do with the NFL network? Are they going to show it along with HBO this season?

No, but they will show the re-runs when HBO is done with the short run they have, and they will show them over and over and over again! Very hard to show a re-run of a sequel, but at least they didn't pick a team that nobody is afraid of like the Chefs again this year.

As a Dallas fan I'm happy, but I can certainly understand this feeling. Dallas had their show and if the world were fair, it would be someone elses turn. I wouldn't mind seeing Miami's camp......who's to say though that they weren't contacted by HBO and Parcell's chewed them out telling them they have more serious things to tend to than their show.It wouldn't surprise me if they had a couple ideas and they fell through and then they went back to what worked for them which was the Cowboys.
