Dallas has themselves a HC.... finally (1 Viewer)

Excellent job of getting this team to win a big game on the road against all odds.

Wade Phillips should have been fired this off season.

I dunno... The end of the first half was badly mismanaged. We'll see as the season goes on.

It was nice to see some emotion instead of the Phillips-face. It is only one game, but Jerry was in the locker room beaming like they won the Super Bowl. Too funny.

We'll see. The effort was much better today but this team has a history of enjoying big wins too much and coming out flat the following week. I want to see sustained improvement before I call Garrett the answer.

This team is talented and should respond to something as drastic as a coaching change - should be an eye opener to everyone on the team that all jobs are on the line. Not sure how much it really has to do with Garrett but a nice win all the same. We'll see if they are still responding in the same way in a couple of weeks when this change isn't so new.

It's one game, guys. One game.
I'd lean towards calling it anything BUT "just one game" when a preseason Superbowl favorite team starts out 1-7, loses their stud QB, goes through a mid-season coaching change after being embarrassed on prime time, and is now taking on a hated rival on their home turf who just so happens to be the current Superbowl favorite... But you go ahead and trivialize it if you want.

As a Giants fan - you could see this one coming from a mile away.....Dont want to take anything away from the Cowboys - they were inspired but the GMEN gave this game away - pick 6 from the 2 yard line - set the tone. This was the Cowboys Superbowl

Amazing..they change a coach and things looked different but yet you seem to think Brad Childress is the answer in Minnesota.

It's the only game under the new head Coach. That's the point. Anyone watching the game could see a HUGE difference in that team. Everyone on that field was giving it everything they had.
Yeah well they were due to play well and let's not pretend that there is a huge difference between the Giants and Cowboys in personnel, because there isn't. Let's all keep in mind this was the favorite to win the NFC East and favorite to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl by Vegas. He has seven more weeks to prove himself, it's a perfect situation for Jerry because he has a yes man who doesn't require a lot of fanfare and lights. Of course he had that with Wade, too.ETA: sp

The Giants ineptness helped to make the Dallas Cowgirls look better than they really are
The cowboys did the same thing to several teams earlier this year. Nice to see it go the other way.

Jerry needs a yes man, but Garrett seems to be a sharper yes man.

The Cowboys played a terrific game today. I'm skeptical that it had much to do with the coaching change. (Denver, for example, had a similar breakout game. If they had fired McDaniels last week, a lot of people would think that today's performance was due to the coaching change. But in the Broncos' case, it obviously wasn't. I suspect the same is true for the Cowboys, but it's impossible to know for sure.)

garrett called the offensive plays for years right? so when they were pummeling teams on the ground last yr and then would decide to throw 3 fades to roy williams from the 5, that was garret right?

Thank you, I will. It was one game. If they lose the rest of their games and finish 2-14, how much will today's game really matter?

Listening to the description of "big changes" under Garrett this week - no cell phones at meetings, bringing notebooks to meetings, etc. - really pointes out the fact that Phillips was no HC.

So do you want to explain your thoughts in the thread about Chilly and you blaming it on Favre.

I've got a fan (stalker?)... that's funny. Please read it back to me off your notebook.

Well 2-14 is better than 1-15 at least :excited:I mean, I'm with everyone that's saying "let's not anoint Garrett as the next best coach to ever walk the sidelines just yet" - but at the same time I think it's obvious that the coaching change impacted their performance for the better for at least THIS game. It was an important win for their season and one that wouldn't have happened with Wade back there.

one win, responding to winning with a new coach is not so uncommon.

I was a bit preoccupied while watching this game. The number of big plays they pulled off against the Giants D was shocking. I'm not 100% but I thought I heard them say Kitna had 13 completions for nearly 300 yards at one point.

It seemed like Osi and Tuck were getting way too excited about stopping the RB once while the Boys were in the huddle arguing over whose turn it was to make a 50 yard play.

The Boys defense was non-existent at times too. I went to the kitchen and came back and Boss was reaching in for a TD. Gmen's drive was that fast.

The light stuff threw the whole broadcast off a bit, but I still think their secondary stinks and that's going to be a major prob. Asking Tom Landry's ghost to coach the defense in Wade's absence was just plain weird.

No they weren't.There were blocks that were pitiful, (mentioned prev post) the D was horrible at times, a blocked XP, Barber went down wayyy too easy a few times and Jones was a joke other times....sorry they bugged me not fighting for extra yards at times. It was NOT everyone giving it everything they had.Absolute improvement but geesh. I get the excitement, it must have been frustrating for Boys fans up til this point, but don't put Garrett in the HOF just yet.Went to NFL.comGmen had a 5 min drive, Boys possession, then roughly a minute and a half drive both resulted in TDs.One more thing-Didn't seem like Witten had a catch today. There were still some major probs, I do think they were considerably better but it is hard to tell when for some odd reason an NFL D is allowing 50+ yard plays left N right

The Cowboys will finish 8-8 and either just get in or just get left out of the playoffs. They're going to thrash the Lions next week and start riding a scary wave of confidence.

Well...it was to you...but hey, guru isn't in his sig yet.Funny looking at some of those who right I was on some and wrong on others.

They're going to go 6-1 from here on out
Yes. They'll lose at Indy and win out.
Hey, I give you credit for going out on the line with a bold call. There's roughly a 0% chance of that call being right, but I applaud you for your chutzpah.

The only two daunting teams left on the schedule are Indy and Philly. They'll handle NO at home. The key game is Philly at home. If they win that and it comes down to a chance at the playoffs in Philly in the final week, no way they lose that after the year they've had. The Giants are a very good team. Dallas showed they have the ability to dominate if they don't make mistakes, if they play with confidence. I feel like something clicked today.

Penalties were way down too.
Yeah... they looked like a well coached football team.
do you guys really think 1 week of garrett is the reason their penalties are down? like all it took was 7 days and a few practices to undo all the bad habits, laziness, and get everyone on the same page.that, or mebbe it was luck.
They are professional football players. All they needed was motivation and proper coaching. They know the rules... they needed a reason to follow them.

And if Eli doesn't throw that 101 YD pick 6/The Giants don't make so many stupid penalties/The Giants overall Sloppy Play things would have turned out differently for the Cowgirls :cry:Yes the Cowgirls have some talent but IMHO the Giants were thinking that they would have a cakewalk again and they got burned because of it.

I love how when the Cowboys lose they just get beat but when they win there are tons of excuses and the Giants lost the game....blah blah.

The Cowboys went in and whipped the Giants, took advantage of mistakes and played a better game in their house. Same thing that has been happening to Dallas all season.

Wade should have been fired three weeks ago and maybe, just maybe this season would have been salvageable. This team could have beaten Tennessee and Jacksonville at least. They barely lost those games.

There are some winnable games left on the schedule but I dont see this team beating Indy or Philly in Philly.

Garrett looks better than Wade. It was a nice win. Not ready to have a parade just yet, Cowboys still have 7 losses.

At this point I dont know if I am ready to say let's keep Garrett just yet.

I Agree Wade should have been fired after the debacle against the Giants down in Texas when Romo got hurtGarrett can't do any worse next year than what Wade was doing this year so JJ will probably keep him if they finish decently

Looking forward to this thread at the end of the season.
makes you wonder , was he sandbagging his playcalling before Phillips got fired? seemed to me like that is what was going on..he was, afterall, guaranteed to be next Cowboys HC, whenever Phillips leaves. The plays that he called yesterday, could've been called any time over the past few weeks, even going back to late last season, but never were.. :wall:but they host Detroit next week, wouldn't be surprised to see the Lions beat the 'Boys..after that, they've got games against N.O., Indy, Philly, Washington, @ Az, Philly...losses to N.O., Indy, Philly ( 2x), and Washington..they should go 2-5 remaining 7 games...then what?? more drama in Big D.. :wall:
