Damian Williams (1 Viewer)

Here's a more in depth explanation on my end - use it to go one way or the other. Little has by far the greater upside. He's bigger, stronger, faster, and runs like an RB in the open field. I don't think I'm saying anything Bloom would take exception to here, but from what I notice about Bloom, he's enamored with the stud physical receivers. Arrelious Been is a guy Bloom has always loved. Greg Little is not that different of a guy. He errs on that side of the fence. I tend to like the guys more that are technically savvy earlier in their careers (think NYG Steve Smith or Eric Decker). That's the direction I err.
Are you saying that erring in one direction is fundamentally correct or do you think it's an indifferent preference?

I think thats an error on Waldmans bias he prefers players that are good now vs. players with more potential

i think there's a redraft versus dynasty part that is a common issue on this board. Ya gotta be sure what Matt's discussing, plus the OP was discussing what he wrote a year or more ago.

Week 8 analysis?

I had dropped him last week but now with Nicks out I am forced to revisit him. I think I saw him get targeted in the endzone; he laid himself out but the ball was just overthrown.

Still, he had the same amount of targets as Hawkins and Washington had 2 TD's.

He has a nice schedule...I had him on the bench today, but he made some good plays.
I had him in my lineup and switched him for Avant after the DJax news came down. Thrilled about that. But Williams does look good. He's been productive since replacing Britt. I think at worst he's a strong WR3 the rest of the way.

Started him as my 3 today with Nicks and A. Brown. I started him over Baldwin, Floyd (of course), Doucett, and Burress.

He is on par with Burress in my mind and I will play matchups the rest of the way.

The problem I have this time of year is my 'studs' are underperforming and I have a number of upside guys getting TD's on my bench. Roddy and Nicks have been starting all year, but I have Williams, D Moore and Bennett to fill the 3rd option.

I'm close to benching Roddy in favor of D Moore and going Nicks, Williams and Moore.

I know, no one cares.

I care. I have Moore as a borderline wr1 until proven otherwise. He has killer matchups too. I'm going to have a hard time benching Williams too. Sidney Rice going to the pine for these two.

picked this guy up just in case maclin can't play this week. He looks to be trending up and tenn will have to pass vs atl to have a chance....

Pulled the exact same move ... was looking at Nate's status, when the blurb came about Desean ...thought I made a decent score :wall: Meh ... Avant catches ONE pass, and literally comes up inches from a score ... while Williams knifes through the Panthers for a nifty 43 yd TD ... then adds to it later with some nice grabs. All while SSmith and Celek get the looks in Philly. Ooofff.Williams has been productive with his chances, save the one game a few weeks ago where he left very early with concussion like sympyoms ... trending upward, gaining Hass's trust, and looks to be a solid WR3, with definite WR2 potenrial, for the duration.Nate/Cook/Hawkins/Avery are not exactly the Pats/Stillers/Saints/Pack WR corps ... he will not get lost in the shuffle. :boxing:

Not this year, but next year Britt will be back. QUestion is whether he can oust either Britt or Washington to actually start. It's possible but not as if Washington hasn't had a good year with Hasselbeck at the helm

Williams appears to be outplaying Nate Washington. Do most in Tenn see him starting next year along side Britt?

Different position but you do tend to want to get your best guys on the field. Damian is filling Britt's role in the offense right now. Nate's position was kept unchanged.

He's been pretty steady in PPR leagues the past 5 games (21, 13, 10, 1, 18)---just the one clunker. I don't think Nate Washington is anything more than a 2/3 NFL WR so there is some hope for this kid down the stretch.

The one clunker came when he was knocked out of the game with a concussion. He's been productive in every full game he's played the past month. He's on a nice run.
I'm looking at trading him neat the end of the season if I can. I would think Hasselbeck will be back next year but after that, I could see production falling off a cliff with the rookie QB. Love his skillset, hate his future QB situation.

However, in a re-draft I think Tennesse is the better passing team than Cleveland. Fantasy owners might be waiting on CJ2K, but I don't think the team is just going to abandon using their best weapon on offense right now (Hasselbeck) if CJ2K gets going. It will still be a good balance. If philosophically you bet on the big-time athlete, you'll feel better about Little. However, look at Denarious Moore. He had a better QB than McCoy, better ground game, and he was lighting up training camp. He's had one big game and nothing else. If you bet on the system combined with a good, but not great athlete then Williams is the guy to take.
This was pretty much spot on. I was able to get Williams in all of my leagues and I really think he is just a poor man's Britt. But that might still be good for solid top 20 numbers on a consistent basis. Nice work here Matt, and also on Earl Bennett.

Heck, I thought Hass was done last season. Don't speculate too much on anything. Lot's can change. Give Locker 2 or 3 years learning and he could be very good.

He does have a veteran QB who's playing well. Washington is dinged, and he's more of a vertical WR anyway. Williams is certainly a bit more valuable in PPR formats. Many thought Jared Cook would be the beneficiary of Britt's early exit. I'll go ahead and argue it's been Williams, because he's more of a possession WR, while Cook's ball skills are very unreliable.

I should note too that Williams was very open for a 32 yard touchdown in the 4th quarter that Hass just missed him on. That would have added about 10 points to his production. Could be a good Omen.

I don't think so. DId you mean Williams here?

Yes Saber, edited and corrected.

Williams was ranked high this week for some reason

Nate Washington is the man in TEN right?

Or was that just because a different QB came in?

It felt like they didn't pass to Damian when CJ was in the game. I don't know how accurate that is, but it's not far off. The gameplan was pitiful. Atlanta made some plays on D, but really the Titans just kept looking like they were at practice hoping to drill some regardless of success. Falcs O looked special at times, the D just didn't have to be today.

from what i saw (not exhaustive) Williams was highly targeted and Washington was hit on shorter passes, crossing routes etc.I think they will be off and on for top production in Tennessee. They both have WR1 upside, but there averages will likely be WR2/3 depending on PPR, league size etc.I would rank them really close together for redraft.

they threw at Williams a lot, but the passes just weren't close on most of them. Locker tried to hit him several times in the end zone to no avail.

Williams did have 11 targets to Washington's 9, so there's that. Unfortunately, an astounding one of those targets was caught by Williams, while Washington caught all of his 9.

Not sure what to make of it, particularly if Locker starts again, but something to keep in mind that Williams was not ignored yesterday. Just didn't connect.

Some of these "targets" were 10 feet over his head out the back of the endzone.
