WR Kyle Williams, NE (1 Viewer)

How is the Patriots' 2025 draft class doing at training camp?

Excerpt:

Williams (No. 69): On the first day of practice, he opened eyes by showing strong hands to catch a 20-yard pass along the sideline in front of second-team All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez. Williams then went through a bit of a dry spell that included a couple drops. Working mostly behind projected starters Stefon Diggs, DeMario "Pop" Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins, Williams has risen in recent days, with notable separation created downfield. He's also a reserve punt returner.
If he can’t distance himself from Mack Hollins quickly…..that would be a bad sign
I feel like Hollins, if healthy, was always going to have a considerable role on the team. He was a priority signing for them this offseason and he offers size and blocking capability that no one else in the WR room does. He's also a veteran with experience in Josh McDaniels' offense. Hollins is not a fantasy factor but is a solid real life football player. My concern for Williams is if he can't separate from Boutte. He could find himself beginning the season all the way down as WR5 on the depth chart.
He does all the little stuff. He blocks, sets the best picks in the NFL and makes big catches.
He's so good that no team wants to retain him.

Raiders
Falcons
Bills

1 year and see ya. He may do the "little stuff" but he won't take playing time away from Williams unless Williams just ends up not being very good in the NFL.

#Patriots WR Kyle Williams is going to be a big play threat for Drake Maye — the rookie has been beating corners off the line of scrimmage and stacking them all night.
Would have had 2 TD catches if Dobbs throws were even decent. I thought Williams looked every bit as good as Henderson as far as Patriots rookies go.
Wasn’t able to watch the game and the stat line was empty besides 4 targets. Appreciate the insight.

With how camps have gone where would people value Williams with respect to TeSlaa?
As a Patriots fan, I've taken TeSlaa over Kyle Williams in 3 out of 3 drafts.
That being said, I'm very high on TeSlaa ... to the point of reaching for him in 2 out of 3 drafts.
I don't dislike Williams. Just can't ignore what TeSlaa is doing preseason. 3 games = 10 for 146 and 3 TD's
I also think another reason TeSlaa is being drafted ahead of Williams is the fact that fantasy drafters have been burned by too many NE Rookie WR's.
NE has proven over and over that they just can't get it right at that position.

It was tough to evaluate TeSlaa because there was limited footage on him, but I had some concerns that he might be a one trick pony deep threat. If the concern is that you only do one thing very well, doing that thing very well in the preseason doesn't actually answer any of the question marks.

Very different body type, but just look across the roster at Jamo to see what I mean. After three years in the NFL, we know he can get behind the defense and catch bombs, but we don't know if he can do anything else. I think anyone drafting TeSlaa (or Williams) at his ADP would be thrilled to get Jamo's 2024 season, but what I am saying is that flashing your primary skill doesn't make you a complete player. Just look at Alec Pierce (who I actually DO like).

Compared to TeSlaa, Williams popped more for me when I watched his college clips. If I'm wrong, I will eat my crow in time, but for now I'm sticking with that call. I'd stop short of calling him a can't-miss type of guy, but there were more sit-up-in-your-chair moments from him. His play speed is bordering on the elite level. I don't care about the tradition of NE WRs because the past doesn't dictate the future. The Bengals weren't known as a WR mecca and then all of a sudden they had Ocho, Housh, Green, Higgins, and Chase. It is a bit naive to think Tyquan Thornton dictates Kyle Williams's future, especially with the regime change and a new QB in town. The history is irrelevant.

I actually really like what they've done there in the last few drafts with Boutte, Polk, Baker, and Williams. Even knowing that Polk is deep in a pit right now, I liked all those picks in the moment. I have some optimism about this group moving forward. Williams would be the marquee name for me.
