Danell Ellerbe or Mclain (1 Viewer)

Just curious to who plays the every down role in Bal now and becomes the guy to get..
I think McClain, but Pollard, Kruger, Ellerbe, Reed will all benefit as well, bump all baltimore defensive players for deep leagues. Ray Lewis's second year in the league was a monster for IDP, 155 solo tackles, 28 assists, 4 sacks, 1 int for 18 yards, 11 passes defended.

So who's the add? McClain who apparently sucks against the pass or Ellerbe who can't defend the run, or is it a wash?

News Articles > Ravens' McClain to step in for Lewis at MLB

Published Wed Oct 17 12:40:20 a.m. ET 2012 (TheHuddle)The Baltimore Ravens listed LB Jameel McClain at LB Ray Lewis' middle linebacker spot and LB Dannell Ellerbe at weakside inside linebacker on the team's weekly depth chart.

Analysis: The Ravens' defense/special teams has been more than solid in fantasy terms so far, tied for sixth overall with 54 points in Huddle Peformance scoring, but the team's 3 defensive/special teams TDs have masked some un-Raven-like deficiencies such as a lack of sacks (10 in 6 games) and an average of more than 400 yards allowed per outing. Those problem areas only figure to get worse with the likes of Lewis and top CB Ladarius Webb now out for the season.

So, Ellerbe is "the guy" here ?
I think he and Pollard benefit the most. Ellerbe is much more aggressive at the point of attack and a better tackler than McClain. McClain will still have some value here. Having Suggs back won't take away too many tackle opportunities because he is much more of a Big play/pass rusher IDP.
