Darius Walker-RB- Texans Jul. 23 - 5:16 pm et

Texans released RB Darius Walker, FB Cory Anderson, G Atlas Herrion, C Enoka Lucas, CB Derrick Roberson, P Eric Wilbur, and LB Zac Woodfin.

Walker never really had a chance to make Houston's roster behind several other backs. We fully expect he'll catch on in someone else's training camp.

Go Chris Taylor!

My deep sleeper this year. With Green's high mileage and Dayne being just Dayne, CT could come in and do alittle suprising damage. Nice big back with good burst.

this kid made a bigtime mistake leaving ND as a juniuer..he cant find a job and was so needed at ND..had he hung around as a senior and done well with the shecdule they have he then would have at least been drafted and had a much better chance to stick around. Not sure who told this kid to leave but he did not do him an ygood and if it was himseff who made the call it was a very bad one. ND is a very touch schedule this year and had he stayed he would have been one of the focal points of that offense and with Weiss there Walker would have improved as a player for sure. Not to menton the hundreds of scouts at the games played against all top 20 teams.

Bad move Darius you had only one choice really stay on and you blew it big time. At least you may have had a full college education to fall back on and you had better hope thye let you finsih up now and get one..imagine that and you wil ahve to go to the ND football games as a cheer leader on the side lines when you should have been the man on the field..poster boy for kids whp are thinking of leaving and are not for sure top three round picks.

Lifelong ND fan here. Never thought Walker was NFL potential. While he's faster than he looks, that still isn't NFL fast. He's very patient and with good vision, but he's too patient for the NFL. The holes don't last as long in the NFL.I agree that staying and getting his degree would have been the best thing for him. Maybe with a good senior year he might have been drafted somewhere, but I really wouldn't count on it. I think he'd still have gone undrafted because it's clear from watching him that he just doesn't have NFL quickness, even if is .40 time says he's got ok speed.

Life long ND fan as well and agree 100%. Also heard rumors that he was actually "pushed" to leave by a certain someone *cough* Weis *cough*. I heard that his PT was going to be cut down a little as they want to get Aldridge a lot more carries this year.

QBs may gain in the draft from the extra year, but I don't think it helps a RB as much. Especially when you'll have to compete for playing time if you come back.

IF this is true (Weis influencing his decision) and for the reason you state, then shame on Charlie. A college coach should never be trying to push players out of their program who don't yet have a degree. If they'd be good enough to make the pros then obviously they'll have value to their college team, and if they're not good enough, then they're they're up the proverbial creek.I root for the Wolverines, Spartans, Trojans, Boilermakers, Service Academies, and whomever else ND plays each week.

First I've heard of such a rumor, but my thought is this. Which is the more upright thing for Weis to do? Not tell Darius anything, and have him maybe come back thinking he'll be the feature and help his draft stock, when Weis knows that won't be the case? Or be upfront and tell him the coaching staff's plans and let Darius decide what is in his best interest with full knowledge of what is likely to happen if he stays at ND?From various stories of Weis in the press and from reading his book, he seems to me someone who would do the latter. And I also could see someone jumping to the conclusion that giving him the information amounts to Weis "pushing him out", when it really wasn't anything of the sort. The information might have pushed him out, but that doesn't mean that pushing him out was Weis' intent, or that giving him the information wasn't the ethical thing to do.I think education is high on Weis' priorities for his players, so until I heard something more substantive, I really wouldn't give the rumor a lot of concern.

From a football standpoint leaving this year was the right decision. He wasn't gonna improve as a rb, he was losing his qb and top wr so if he had stayed defenses would have stacked the line against him and most importantly this year's crop of rbs isn't anywhere as good as the guys coming out next year. There's no way he was gonna get drafted next year if no one wanted to draft him this year.

And now his education won't be paid for, either.

Any guesses where Walker may latch on?

After a quick scan of the rosters, I can only find two teams that MIGHT be interested in him.

The Browns (possible) or Rams (unlikely).

The Browns have Lewis (downside of career) and a bunch of ??? in Wright and Harrison.

The Rams have little depth behing SJax, but drafting Leonard possibly takes them out of the running to add another RB

It looks like if he signs with anyone else, he will only be a training camp body.

You're not the first person to make that mistake and you won't be the last. Last year was lewis' best season in three years and his 9 rushing TDs were the second most he's ever rushed for in a season. The browns COULD go after walker but I don't see how he would be an improvement. Unfortunately for walker he has just average size and average talent, it was good enough for college but not the NFL. I see the CFL in his future.
