Darnell Dockett (1 Viewer)

Whats the projection for him in the future? I realize he isnt 3rd in every league, but he is definitely up there and he's nowhere to be found in the preseason rankings. I know there was talk about him moving to DE- did he already?

He's 3rd in my league as well. Yep ... he's playing DE in the 3-4 and DT in the 4-3.

It appears Dockett may have finally turned the corner and be the player Arizona thought he could be.

I think he will be a solid play for leagues who start DL, and for league's who playDT/DE, he should be a DT stud.

I had Dockett in the mid 40s in my last preseason ranking. Hard to project how he'd perform in a new role in a new scheme, but he looked like he had the skill set of a rosterable 3-4 DE. He's getting a small boost from his snaps inside at DT when the Cards run the 4-2-5 on passing downs as Rozelle noted, but the bulk of his stats are coming as an end in the 3-4.

It's tough to argue that his current pace is sustainable, but the podcast crew was all in agreement last week that Dockett (with Marques Douglas a close second) should be considered an every week starter at this point.

i picked him up for a week 5 bye replacement and he did jack all for me. :( Though im giving him a second chance as i need a bye replacement again this week :P

Me too - apologies to all for turning him into a stiff overnight. I did the same thing to Mario Williams in week 2.-QG

There is much to be learned from the trend of the two posters above. Don't go pick up a guy just because he had a great game LAST week.

Perhaps starting up a league with them in it would be good though :lmao:

True, but not in this case ... Dockett hasn't been a one week wonder, he had 2 good weeks back to back (3-4) and was solid the two weeks prior.WEEK 1 (2-3-1)

WEEK 2 (2-1-0) FR PD

WEEK 3 (4-1-1.5) FF

WEEK 4 (5-1-3) FF

I agree with the Don't go pick up a guy just because he had a great game LAST week However, Dockett was a good pickup. He is playing really good.

Agreed Rozelle. The comment about Mario (who is also a terrific talent) and the resulting poor weeks both guys had after they were picked up inspired the caution.I was at FSU with Dockett and can tell you he is a physical marvel. He stood out at a place where freak athletes are quite common. He and Greg Jones were the two guys who stood out the most.

Unfortunately Dockett had off field issues (some very few people know about) and some work ethic questions, but he appears to be maturing into the player everyone knew he could be.

I remember him having some charactor issues coming into the draft. With D-lineman being so up and down, I wouldn't be too concerened with last week, though I think his play will draw attention from OC's and they will be looking more to scheme for him. Watson will be the key. I hear he's playing really well also and if he can continue, that will free up Dockett. Like benn3218 stated, he has a decent matchup this week and should be able to get to Carr.

Some food for thought on Dockett ...

Last 3 meetings vs Seattle

2007 Week 2 (2-1-0 FR PD)

2006 Week 14 (6-1-1 FF)

2006 Week 2 (8-4-1)

He's been pretty quiet the last 4 weeks ... he's due for a game

He's in a really good position

Inside on rushing plays, then shifting to the edge on obvious passing downs.

He's on the field for every down, at least that's what i heard.
