Right now in my scoring system, there are 3 DB's in the Top 10 in scoring on the Minnesota D. Winfield obviously, Cedric Griffin, and Sharper.
I'm sure Winfield stays around the top tier all year, but I doubt this stays the case for all 3, and despite being a great NFL safety, I never thought of him as a great FF safety (This is only my 2nd year with IDPs). Right now he's on pace for 120 tackles, obliterating any total he's ever had since '99 (113) and it would be a career high.
With their run D as great as it is, I think teams are definitely going to air it out more against them. although maybe not as much as DET this week, I think most teams will pass more than usual and this should help his consistency I would think. Same goes for his 2 picks INTs yesterday. I don't think thats the norm, but I dont see why he doesn't get at least 7 and probably closer to 10. He's also in a division with somewhat INT-friendly QB's.
Is he in contention as a top DB for this year?
Thoughts?
---ps---better than ronde?
