Is he only starting because Gerald Hayes is out? Will Washington keep his job if/when Hayes returns? Or is Paris Lenon the odd man out?
I don't know what will happen when Hayes comes back. Jene?Is he only starting because Gerald Hayes is out? Will Washington keep his job if/when Hayes returns? Or is Paris Lenon the odd man out?
I could have sworn I saw him in on passing downs.....Was he used in passing situations today, or did he get all of his 10 solos because Atlanta gut up early and ran it all day?
I'd think Lenon goes to the bench when Gerald Hayes comes back.Who is in a better position to make tackles going forward - him or Lenon?
Washington. Once Hayes comes back off the PUP list, Lenon will go back to the bench, unless he somehow performs out of his mind. Since Lenon is 32 years old, I don't think that's going to happen.FWIW, I had Washington ranked as the #2 impact rookie LB this year.Who is in a better position to make tackles going forward - him or Lenon?
No change to what I said before. That quote is a bit ambiguous.I was just about to pick him up, but then read this. What do you guys think?ILB Daryl Washington had 11 tackles last week, but that's only because the Falcons were so successful running the ball. At 230 pounds, Washington is undersized and sometimes has difficulty getting off blocks.(Yahoo! Sports)
OK, time for a bump on this thread.2-2 today, with no tackles beyond midway through the second quarter? SD ran the hell out of the ball, he should have had way more tackles if he was actually on field for all of that. Did he get hurt, benched, or did he just suck today? I was feeling pretty good about him after the first 2 games, and now he's nowhere to be seen 2 in a row. With Lenon in charge, is he going to be riding the pine when Hayes comes back soon? Anybody know what the problem is? I know I should be patient, and I will be, but today shocked me when I checked the box score after seeing the stomping ARI took. Thought I'd see 6-10 solo's on Tolbert/Mathews at least....No change to what I said before. That quote is a bit ambiguous.I was just about to pick him up, but then read this. Well, he's done nothing 2 weeks in a row, and Hayes is back soon and there's no way he's not going to start at one of the 2 ILB positions when he comes back. Looking at Washington's point total for the year isn't really that constructive to this conversation. We're trying to figure out why he's blown the last 2 weeks when the tackle opportunities have been there. And Lenon has stepped up nicely. There's a relatively high chance that Washington isn't going to be starting in a few weeks. Jene, any thoughts on this situation?Gosh guys. I have Washington in a couple of leagues and am considering dumping him for roster space. He's just been bad so far.
Jene i saw somewhere that D.W. was only on the field for a limited number of plays the last 2 weeks, can you give us any insight on this situation?Bump
Anybody? I wish I knew but I never get to see ARI's games. I'd like to know how much and when he was on the field too....I saw that DW finally had a decent game. Should we expect more of this or was he not in for all snaps?
He had a nice game Sunday vs SEA (7 solos, 1 sack). I'm with Mistabishi - should we expect more of this? I'd like to know how he looked, whether he was on the field all 3 downs, etc. Is he in the lineup to stay now or filling in? I picked up Bishop (GB) and Diles (HOU) last week but I'm wondering if Washington looks more valuable going forward. ARI D is on the field for more snaps than GB or HOU and is seeing more Tckl Ops according to Jene's IDP Matchup article, so If Washington is bona fide starter and a 3 down LB, he could be a real good pickup. I'd appreciate any insight anybody has.Anybody? I wish I knew but I never get to see ARI's games. He looked good and FAST on the sack. He was not in on nickel packages. I didn't even notice Paris. Teams that go 3 wide are not good matchups for him. I don't think TB lines up that way very often, so I am looking at starting him again this week.He had a nice game Sunday vs SEA (7 solos, 1 sack). I'm with Mistabishi - should we expect more of this? Bump.I think it's pretty straight forward at this point. Unless there's an injury to Lenon or Hayes, Washington is an afterthought in redraft and a hold in dynasty. He didn't even play today, unless I'm missing something. Obviously Arizona values veteran leadership over developing their highly drafted talent. That'll get them somewhere this year.Anyone who watched the game catch how many snaps Washington played in relation to Hayes and Lenon?
Agree with your conclusions. Washington should be playing to get experience -- if you watch the Shiancoe TD, Favre threw the ball right over Hayes, who did absolutely zero to prevent it. No athleticism to stop the play (though it was admittedly a good throw). BTW - Washington had 1 tackle yesterday, so he did in fact play.Bump.I think it's pretty straight forward at this point. I would hope so. What on earth does that team have to lose by getting him some serious game action? He's so much more athletic than Lenon and Hayes, just needs to get some more playing time.Cardinals LB Paris Lenon is scheduled for an MRI on his injured ankle.Lenon originally injured the ankle in Week 5 and aggravated it in Week 9. Coach Ken Whisenhunt has expressed concern that Lenon could miss time. If he does, Daryl Washington would fill in for him and wouldn't be a downgrade.Source: Arizona Republic If Lenon misses time will Washington be a 3 down LB next to Hayes?
Bump.Obviously he's not playing anymore and this has now become a dynasty situation for next year. Hayes and Lenon are both older veterans with a decent amount of experience, but Washington is the young stud on a bad team and needs to develop a little more to become a IDP beast. Let's just assume the rest of this year is a wash for Daryl. Are we going to be dealing with this situation next spring? What are the contract situations for both Lenon and Hayes? Is Arizona so bad that they cut ties with an old Lenon who has little actual upside for the team's future leadership? I'm sure Washington will be a good topic next April as a "keeper", just wondering if I am hanging on to someone who isn't going to turn into an IDP beast next year.Thoughts?By the way, Lenon's ankle is jacked up and he hasn't practiced yet this week. For those of us (I included) who are bummed that Washington isn't starting anymore because Hayes is back, keep an eye on this situation. Washington would be a solid starter if Lenon isn't active. This might be the break he needs. Ideally it needs to be Washington and Hayes in the middle. Both playing 3 downs. Just like the old days with Dansby and Hayes.
Man, his box score was awesome today! Why didn't Hayes play?I'm rather perplexed at the Ariz coaching staff's inability to get Washington some decent reps when their season is clearly over. Then again, looking at their QB situation its becoming increasingly clear this coaching staff doesn't have a clue what its doing. Hopefully they don't waste the potential Washington has next season.
Hayes hasn't been great playing the run over the past two weeks, but it's more likely because I finally dumped Washington in an IDP-only "experts" league yesterday evening.Man, his box score was awesome today! Curtis Lofton was a little frustrating his rookie season too. I stuck it out with Washington in my big dynasty league, but did cut bait with him in all other redrafts weeks ago. Maybe when the team rebuilds for next year (that's a given) he'll become the center piece of their defense. Possible IDP monster for the 2011 season! He was a healthy scratch is all I could find. Will keep looking though. It may be something that will continue for the rest of the season so those hanging onto him, have him at the perfect time. Lenon gets a bump as well if lost play time isn't looming over his head.I put him in the lineup at the last minute when I saw that Hayes was inactive. Put up 24 points for me. Does anyone know what is wrong with Hayes?
As far as I know they both played in the nickle, with Lenon still in there for dime packages. Was Washington playing in the nickel this weekend or was it still Lenon?
