Deadwood (1 Viewer)

Rough episode for Hearst finally. His right-hand man gets beaten to death right in front of him and he gets dragged across camp by his ear at gunpoint.
Mrs. Dogg pointed this out, (and I bet she's right), that Hearst **wanted** to get arrested. Without his muscle, he's vulnerable to n assasination by Al.

Al's last quote to his lackey backs that up. He said something like "that limits our options" when he saw Bullock leading Hearst out.

:goodposting: My thoughts exactly.....also on the fight---WOW!! I had tivo'd the show and was watching it after midnight (eastern time), usually I make it through about half before I'm too tired to watch the rest. But when that fight scene happened, I was sitting up in bed like this

I just wish Dan had told Hearst "good day to go #### yourself" as they exchanged leers after the fight.

And I love that set-up that Sol has. Lying there on the bed, he raps on the wall for Trixie. :lmao: Not even Swearengin gets service like that.

What's up with Ellsworth, though? Did he need some Viagra or what? I mean, everyone knew the reasons for that marriage had nothing to do with romance and it was very plain that Alma was just plain horny. I gathered, though, that Ellsworth is now going to move out, right? Does that mean the marriage is now over, or what's going to happen with that?

I think he realized she was high, that's why he turned her down.

Exactly. There is no doubt that he wanted her. But apparantly he wasn't into having sex with a stoned chick.

 He could smell it or see it in her eyes. I think he can do without the romance as long as he's considered the little girl's father. I also think that's what bothers him so much about her using again, how it'll affect the kid.

As every ornery cuss in the Wild West was THAT honorable.

Hands down the best show on TV in a long long time.

Last night was the first episode I saw. It was good, but I have to say, the cursing is WAY overdone. I think it gets in the way of the dialog. At times it sounds like the script is written by 13 year olds that were told "go ahead, you can curse!"The show was very good, but I was just surprised that the F-bomb was dropped so frequently that it seemed to get in the way of what otherwise seemed rather intelligent writing.

BTW, I have had the same complaint about the Sopranos before, which I don't really watch either.

Obviously not a man up the the standards of most FBGs.

That(only wanting him when stoned) plus the fact that she didn't want him to have the kid after she died(despite her true reasons) have made him realize what a sham the whole thing is. Add to it that there's no baby now so why bother.

I am fairly certain that the cussing is there for authenticity. I agree that it can be distracting. I am fairly certain there's no novelty in letting them cuss constantly.

That was exactly my complaint in season 1. I realized that they were trying to show us how gritty and vulgar it was, or whatever, but I found it distracting. However, after watching for three seasons I can tell you that you just get used to it. At least I did, anyway.

:goodposting: You get used to it after a while I barely notice anymore

Is the "feminine actor" that just got into town the guy from "Breaking Away"?

Even in the limited screen time the charachter was pretty annoying, a little over the top IMO.

 110% correct, IMO.

Is it Sol or Saul?Sol is usually short for "solomon"

Yes- it was Dennis Christopher.I can't belive that he's actually 50 years old. Wow that makes me feel old.

IMO the last two episodes of Deadwood have been the best so far this season, and I would put both in the top 6-8 episodes altogether. I still wish Alma would get killed off, though. She is annoying in every scene she's in.

Yeah. She's a character I don't care about. If Alma and those new theater actors get caught in a deadly abattoir accident, I won't miss them.

I don't think she'll survive the season. Either murdered or suicide.

You should watch Rome. It is very good and has very little profanity. At least for HBO standards.BTW, I thought this was the best Deadwood episode to date. Followed by one of the best episodes of Entourage to date. Followed by three lackluster minutes of Lucky Louie and me shutting off the television. Its not TV, its HBO.

I've been meaning to catch this on demand, I've heard good things

Rome is brilliant. The first episode is pretty slow, but I was hooked within a couple of shows.

Shut your mouth. Claudia is my new favorite BBW.

I do like her. It's those actors with the gay that bother me.

Was she the stripper Mom in Carnivale?

That's her. She also had a cameo on Seinfeld as the Scientologist chick in the parking garage that gives Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer a ride to find their car. She actually looked pretty hot in that Seinfeld.

you know sometimes the mass public reminds me of ancient rome.

they loved gladiator matches almost as much as you guys like violence.

if the sopranos aint killing each other every day then everybody cries.

deadwoods great because they pulled an eye out of a guys head.

ill tell you this much, deadwood is great because of the stories, same as for the sopranos and if you want something great....watch the wire.

I love The Wire. Big fan. But a dislocated eyeball is far from the best thing about Deadwood. The Wire is probably the best cop show ever made for TV. That doesn't make it better than Deadwood.

Hey, if you want to watch shows for the stories, stick to your Lifetime Channel. TIA!

Wow, what an episode! So much happened to talk about that no one has mentioned

Bullock, Steve, Hostetler and the General search the livery for the board Steve signed, but when they uncover it, it is blank. Steve has a tantrum, insisting he won't accept it as the board. Hostetler can't take being called a liar anymore and in his own fit, shoots himself.
Langrishe sees to Chesterton, suggesting that the arts do not provide enough for them to nurse him through an illness from which he will not recover. Chesterton agrees to earn his keep by helping with the conversion of the theater. Langrishe holds a company meeting, assigning roles for the next production: costumes, civic relations, the renovation of the bordello.
BTW, LOL @ "tardiness and ginger bum" showing how much the Breaking Away guy was really sad about Chesterton. :lmao:

I expect tonight's episode to bring it again. The plotlines are finally starting to pick up.
