Better then Tony Soprano, and becoming just as good as Schillinger from Oz.
i was with you until this. he's probably the best character in this show... but Tony Soprano is out of this guy's league.
I'd actually swap these - better than schillinger and BECOMING just as good as Tony Soprano.By next year, he will be recognized to be as good a character as Tony.
Tony is just loosing his edge to me. I guess it's because I haven't enjoyed that show for awhile. Oz, on the other hand, never let me down and kept itself hard hitting right until the end. So I guess that's my personal bias.Either way, your talking the top 3 characters on TV by a wide margin given the crap that's on now.
Two words: Vic Mackey.
I was hooked on that show for the first 2 seasons - never missed it. But then law school got in the way and I just have never been able to get back to it (to be honest I don't even know when it is on). But I would agree that he is a great character also, so I will allow for him to be in the top 3-5 as well.
How did law school get in the way of you watching an hour long program that's played two or three times a week?
and at 10/11/12 at night.

I went at night while working full time. Classes ended at 10 and I had a hour and half commute home.

I quoted your statement about CJ, who you didn't even know who she was. And I further quoted a CJ quip that I found quite funny. Your theory that she is not funny is obviously a minority opinion, as she is one of the most popular charactors on the show. #### bird....
:opensdoor::enterskitchen:

i wish there was an 'ingnore' button for her so I don't have to change the channel when she comes on.
Calamity Jane is total ROXOR:Calamity Jane: "This is the ### of a drunken #### bird. Finish this bottle with me, if you can sit beside someone and not stink or fart."

N. General: "I will cut the odd fart but they've never stunk."
you lack of skill in the quote funtion area only proves my theory more.
You lack of skilz in the Anglish department only proves moi thory, two. :hophead:
:rotflmao: aren't you the guy who had Keary Colbert ranked ahead of Mushin Muhammad last season?

Per Mark:

Colbert will outperform Muhammad and supplant Muhammad in 2004.
LINK and you will never live this down, but I commend you because Wood would have deleted it by now:rotflmao:

arguement ovah. let me know when your opinion matters again.

Wow. Bringing up last year's preseason football predictions to make your point in the FFA. Ummm, wow.

Try again, JoeT

Now that that nonsense is taken care of, can we please return to talking about one of my top-3 favorite shows on TeeVee???

Watching the re-run as we speak......Tolliver's comment to Merrick was hysterical......After Merrick rants and raves about ruffians messing up his office with a dog defacating in his office......"hired by you Mr. Tolliver?"Tolliver just simplay says "I don't think they had a dog."

Funniest line of the episode, fer sher.Tolliver is sort of like a comic book villian - the bad guy with the black hat in the cartoon/ol western kind of villian.

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: alright I give.

You guys are right. I'm wrong. Calamity Jane is FUNNY.

(note this fbg first where someone actually admits he's wrong)

BUT GB GETTING TO POKE FUN AT WIMER AGAIN

IT WAS WORTH IT!

PM's down?Might be a lot more worth it if Mark ever even peeked at this thread, but I am pretty sure he is too busy to give a hoot about a Deadwood thread in the FFA. Either way, I'll reiterate that you got :own3d: in this thread. No matter how wrong Wimer was about Colbert over Muhammed or whatever - a moot issue had Steve Smith not been injured.
alright I give. You guys are right. I'm wrong
 Mark (no pun intended) the day and time - I have the feeling I will have to reference this one many times from the SPool.

Another great episode. I missed the whole Al and the box thing. What was that? The discussion in the other bar was priceless."I'd never go to a Chinese whore. My mother is still alive.""Jealous one, is she?" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I was the head of an indian, going way back to when he promised a bounty for every one he received(after Sofia's parents were rumored to be killed by indians(but were actually killed by Al's guys))

not true. it was empty, and it was an excuse to talk to utter.also, Al's facial expression after his last statement to Mrs. Garrett was priceless. :lmao:

I thought it was the head of the priest. Now I'm confused.

Good call on the shot of Al's face. How about the wistful expression he wore as Trixie left his office? He still carries a torch for her.

I missed parts of the episode but I thought the box contained the head of the Indian since he kept calling it "Chief" and they referenced the head in the opening recap.

 they referenced it in the "previously on deadwood" part before the theme song plays, I am 100% sure I'm right on this one.

Correct-a-mundo

There's a lot to digest without not much being specifically added last night. I need to watch it again tonight on HBO2 and tomorrow on HBO to make sure I got everything......but here's a start:Al knows something happened involving Joannie, the Chez Ami, and that Charlie Utter helped Joanni out. The next day, Charlie kicks the crap out of Wolcott, and by late afternoon, Tolliver asks for a sit-down at the Gem to discuss how in spite of whatever Wolcott has done (step on Utter's foot in the breakfast line, or even kill some people.....) he needs to be treated with kid gloves. This does not sit well with Al. In his soliloquy with the Indian head from last weekend (we were all led to believe that's what was in the box), he thinks Wolcott may have done something at teh Chez Ami and Tolliver is trying to protect him. Why? Tolliver has been working with Wolcott to buy out claims.Even though Charlie didn't give details to Wolcott when he got Wild Bill's letter from him, did he say enough to put Joannie in harms way (as if she weren't already)? In the previews, Wolcott shows up behind here at the Chez Ami. I can't remember what the dialogue was.....IS it a set up for Wolcott?I'll add more after watching it again.

You are correct."E.B. was left out" - great title for the episode.

"Penny for your thoughts, Mrs. Garret"

"I'm glad I'm leaving your company, Mr. Farnum"

(or words to that effect)

That was pretty good. Farnum is hilarious.I think after that meeting everyone (Al, Bullock) have pretty much figured out what happened with Mr. W.

I can't wait for the next episode.

The lines in this show keep getting better.Al was great as usual, especially with the NewspapermanFavorite line came from trixie: after telling the marshall to ease up on her, Sy asked if she had any advice for him:Those in hope of P***y must tread lighty or something to that effect.what a great show.

Line of the night:

Swearengen comes downstars to meet Tolliver....

Tolliver: "Moving somewhet rheumatic, young man" <to Al as he walks gingerly from the stairs to the bar>

Jewel: "God, he's always draggin that f***in leg!!"

Had I been drinking something I would have spit it all over the place when she said that.

I liked the quick look he gave when she asked him to refrain from obsenities.

I must have missed the indian head reference. The box sure looked empty. It was hanging from a single finger whilst he waved it around. Then his comments about it missing an address were not very Al-like.I think the drugs the doc is giving him, are making him a little too whimsie. What did Al say when Johnnie asked him what was in the box? It made me think it was empty.

Another great episode  FWIW I Tivo all the CSI Episodes also and watched one yesterday from 2003 titled "Precious Metal" that had the actor that plays Wolcott & played the guy that shot Wild Bill. The first show with Wolcott, I was like "that sounds just like the guy that shot Hickock." Glad to find out it was the same actor, it was bugging the crap out of me.

ya shes awesome. they are doing an excellent job at growing the secondary characters this year.

How can you not like Jane?Between her response to the "what's your preference" line and "He ain't lied yet", she was gold tonight.

Strange episode. Seemed to me to be more of a, "day in the life of Deadwood" than any other show so far. I still enjoyed it though.

Great episode. I really wanted Walcott to die, but him living was worth it to see Jane one more time. She was on fire in that episode. And again, Bullock and the wife - :X Not liking it at all.And Al is great. But we know this. And even Dan had a funny line. "What's the chief think?" Priceless.

wow no one watched Deadwood tonight? thread buried on page 19Great episode! it's clear many of the different plots are going to be coming to a head very soon. I believe there are only 4 episodes left after this one...Poor little kid.. :( I'm betting he'll be fine though

Another top notch job on this one.The fat guy - I enjoyed that storyline. You knew he was going to get it, but I enjoyed the way the psycho talked him into getting killed. Good stuff there.Al was on fire as always. As was EB, and Jane. Now the Bullock and family story line is really annoying me. All that boring useless crap just to potentially kill the kid? Still don't like it.Sad to see it winding up for the year, but it's a great show.

Ok, I checked out the 2nd season premiere last night ON DEMAND. I am now going to buy the 1st season DVD. I am sure this has been convered quite a bit in this conversation so my apologies but how many Tombstone actors are in this? Ringo, Curly Bill, I thought I saw a couple of the women from Tombstone and I think I remember one other. Can anyone enlighten me?

Powers Boothe and Paula Malcomson are the only two, I believe. Michael Beihn (Johnny Ringo) is not in Deadwood.

I checked IMDB about that guy and was proven wrong. Bulluck kind of reminds me of him, though.

GDB having my tivo settings so it would only keep 2 episodes at a time....it didnt record this weeks episode so I have to wait till Tuesday night to watch it. When I went on vacation I forgot to delete the old episodes... :hot: And to top it all off, I forgot to put Family Guy on my season pass list....good thing I cheated and downloaded the new episode last week!

To be honest, I was kind of bored by this past week's episode. I'd really like some more action (ala two weeks ago) and less soap opera stuff going on.What drew me in in season one was the little snippets of "real life" in Deadwood, not so much the character development and how they all get along.Next new one should be fairly jam packed as a few storylines must start to reach a head.
